If you're buying Diablo III from the digital store, take note of this important limitation.

  • Act I up to the Skeleton King is available
  • Level 13 cap
  • Matchmaking available only with other Starter Edition players
  • No Auction House access (Real Money or Gold)

Unofficial Patch Changes
sny83 has been rounding up all the unofficial patch changes found in patch 1.0.3. It's safe to say this is not a full list, but it hits a lot of the changes. Make sure to check out his thread to find more, and also post some more hidden changes.

DiabloFans Quote:

  • General
    • The Last Stand of the Ancients event in the Festering Woods no longer spawns every game, and now has multiple positions in which it can appear throughout the zone
    • Monks now properly use all weapons in their attack animations
    • The gold reward from multiple quests has been reduced
  • Items
    • The 4-piece bonus for the Natalya's Wrath set now grants +2 discipline regeneration per second, up from +0.42
  • Skills
    • Demon Hunter
      • Evasive Fire no longer hits enemies or objects behind walls created by Waller elites or sand doors in the zones of Zoltun Kulle's Archives
  • Bosses
    • Zoltun Kulle teleports to the player every ~10 seconds if the player is more than half a screen away and instantly throws a fireball (this was mentioned in the official patch notes, but with "occasionally" as opposed to the exact frequency, and with no mention of the instant fireball)
  • Monsters
    • The Vortex ability on elites now has an increased range, similar to that of the maximum range of Mortar post-patch
    • Elite packs heal all damage taken much sooner than before when not engaged combat (tested in Act II, Inferno)
    • Dark Summoners in the Halls of Agony (Act I) will now summon a normal Unholy Thrall as opposed to a champion one when left alone to complete their ritual
    • The rare pack that spawned outside the entrance to the Ancient Waterway in Dahlgur Oasis has been replaced with a single unique monster
    • Monster spawns in Highlands Crossing have been changed so that previously safe areas can now be populated by monsters
    • Upon crossing the first bridge in Highlands Crossing, two Dark Berserkers are summoned
  • Chat
    • If you send a private message to someone and he replies, you no longer automatically enter reply mode (/r) after hitting Enter
    • The channel text colour has changed from teal to light beige
    • The game messages text colour (e.g. game joins/leaves, toggling loot display on the ground, salvage results, etc.) has changed from light beige to yellow
    • If a player playing a Battle.net game other than Diablo III comes online, the message that appears in the chat window now prefixes their name with the icon of the game (i.e. World of Warcraft)
    • It is no longer possible to send messages to party chat when not in a game (possibly a bug fix?)
  • Auction House
    • The Auctions and Completed tabs of the AH user interface now show (enclosed in brackets) the number of auctions in progress and completed, respectively
    • The item quality filter dropdown menu in the AH search interface now has colour-coded elements (i.e. blue text for magic, yellow for rare, etc.)
    • The item tooltip in the AH user interface now shows the calculated DPS (as mentioned the official patch notes) but when searching for an item, the DPS column of the result table shows the raw weapon DPS
  • Bug fixes
    • Zoltun Kulle no longer appears/talks as the player approaches the shadow locks in Unknown Depths and Storm Halls if he has been killed already
    • The Villager's Journal lore item can now be found in an Old Keepsake Box in The Old Ruins
    • The bonus to critical hit chance granted by the Sharpshooter passive no longer resets when moving items around in the inventory

First of all, I would like to state that I do thoroughly enjoy this game. I have been playing pretty much every day since launch, and I played almost every day that I was allowed to in Beta.

However, there are a few areas of this game that I feel can be made better. This is not a QQ post, and any unconstructive feedback given is not appreciated.

So without further ado, here goes.
Thank you for this compilation! While I'm unable to really comment on any of the suggested changes (save for one, below...sort of), please know that I've forwarded on this thread to our developers for review. Not only are the initial points of feedback constructive and detailed, but the ongoing discussion which has followed has been equally insightful.

If I can follow up on any of the suggestions at a later time, I will. In the meantime, please keep this discussion going. I'll definitely be reading along. :)

With the changes to repair bills, you might also want to reward players who are actually playing the game.
On this point specifically, we're looking to reduce the durability hit players take from normal wear-and-tear. We agree with players and feel that characters who never die shouldn't be getting hit with a giant repair fee every couple of hours.

Wow, im kinda shocked they blue posted on this thread and not mine. http://us.battle.net...95160080?page=1
No need to be shocked. I simply hadn't seen it yet (lots of threads to read this morning), but thank you for sharing a direct link. I'll look it over as soon as possible. :) (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Thankful
I thought the exclamation point/question mark power-combo would make it obvious I was joking. Of course you wouldn't be thankful that we didn't nerf all the stats, the extreme degree of obviousness as to the incorrectness of the statement is what makes it so absolutely hilarious. Anyway, sorry you misunderstood my intent.

Here's the entire quote, for reference and cataloging:

We don't want people to be afraid of nerfs, and ... I guess maybe I can try to get that across by saying we could have nerfed a bunch of stats that probably deserve it to some degree, but we didn't (aren't you thankful!?), because we don't believe our design approach should be constantly noodling with really important things, like stats. It should only be when we have an extreme situation developing, and we felt that was the case with IAS.

Basically anything so say or do around here right now will be responded to with pitch forks unless its along the lines of "reverting blah blah blah"
Oh I know, but what's a Fallen Shaman to do? I still love the game, and Blizzard, and want to work to make everyone happy. Gotta take a black eye or two. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Real Life Threats
This is a reminder that we take threats made against other players, against our employees, and of self-harm extremely seriously.

We realize that there can be stressful and trying moments in the game or when interacting with others, but there is no acceptable time to go beyond the boundaries of the game and threaten others with real-life harm.

If someone is found to be making a real-life threat, we will report it to the authorities, which could result in real repercussions. To report threatening in-game chat, use the right-click Report > Real-Life Threat option, or for forum posts, use the thumbs-down button and choose "Real-Life Threats."
