Cheating in Diablo III
It looks like a ban wave is on its way to Diablo III

If a Diablo III player is found to be cheating or using hacks, bots, or modifications in any form, then as outlined in theDiablo III end user license agreement, that player can be permanently banned from the game. This means that the player will be permanently unable to log in to Battle.net® to play Diablo III with his or her account.
Playing Diablo III legitimately means playing with an unaltered game client. Doing otherwise violates our policies for Battle.net andDiablo III, and it goes against the spirit of fair play that all of our games are based on. We strongly recommend that you avoid using any hacks, cheats, bots, or exploits. Suspensions and bans of players that have used or start using cheats and hacks will begin in the near future.

@Healeighgee: Warden has been. Monitoring what's being tracked by the system is an important part of the process before banning in waves. We need to be sure the detections are accurate.

@Romzen: It's a reminder of the rules and a promise that ban waves will commence shortly. Nothing more.

@ArdenTDG: It's not as though this is something new. We tend to remind players of our stance against cheating before doing ban waves. For perspective, this blog was published within about two months of StarCraft II's release, very shortly before the first ban wave went out: http://us.battle.net.../en/blog/809157

RMAH Reminder
With the possibility of the RMAH going live tomorrow as the ingame tooltip says, Blizard has posted another reminder about the RMAH.

Account Security and Using the Real-Money Auction House

If you intend to use either Battle.net® Balance or PayPal™ to buy and sell items on the Diablo® III real-money auction house, there are a few important security measures you'll need to have in place in order to access certain auction house features. We highly recommend that you set up your Battle.net Balance or PayPal account ahead of time, so you'll be ready to use the real-money auction house once it's live.
  • Battle.net Balance: Players who wish to use Battle.net Balance to buy and sell items will need to attach a physical Battle.net Authenticator or Battle.net Mobile Authenticator app (free for iPhone, iPod touch, and Android) to their Battle.net account. Specifically, an Authenticator is required in order to charge up your Battle.net Balance through Battle.net account management or to select Battle.net Balance as the destination for your auction proceeds.
  • PayPal: Players who wish to use PayPal (only available in certain regions/currencies) to buy items or receive the proceeds of their auctions will need to sign up for our Battle.net SMS Protect service. With Battle.net SMS Protect, you'll occasionally receive a text message on your mobile phone when making PayPal-related transactions; this message contains a code that you must then enter to proceed with your transaction.
Even if you don't plan on using the real-money auction house, we still encourage everyone to consider adding these extra layers of protection on their Battle.net account.

Note: Please keep in mind that players will be able to purchase items on the real-money auction house with other forms of payment, including major credit cards, that do not require the use of an Authenticator or Battle.net SMS Protect. Additional payment options are listed here. If you wish to sell items, however, and receive the proceeds of those sales, you will need to use either Battle.net Balance or PayPal.

Region Auction Houses and Global Play

As we've stated before, players will only have access to the real-money auction house while playing in their home game region(The Americas, Europe, or Asia), and characters created outside of your home region will not be able to buy, sell, or use items from any real-money auction house. Your home game region, along with which real-money auction houses you have access to, are determined by the country of residence registered to your Battle.net® account. By default, Battle.net will automatically determine the most appropriate real-money auction house for you, but players in some regions may be able to access auction houses for additional currencies in their region via the in-game Options menu.

Item Delivery and "Processing" Purchases

Occasionally, players may have to wait for a period of time before an item they purchased in the real-money auction house arrives in their "Completed" tab. While we expect the majority of real-money auction house purchases to be delivered to buyers immediately, in some circumstances, we will need to hold items for delivery while we conduct a review of the transaction. Held items will show as "Processing" until the review is complete.

Commodities on the Real-Money Auction House

As we prepare to launch the real-money auction house, we want to make sure that commodity trading (recently re-enabled in the gold auction house) remains quick, stable, and reliable. To that end, it's possible that the real-money auction house will launch with equipment trading only (i.e. weapons, armor, and other such gear) and commodities would come online at a later date. The team is hard at work getting commodities ready for trading in the real-world auction house, and in the event it doesn't launch with the real-money auction house, our goal is to activate this feature as soon as is feasible.

There were some weird design decisions made with the game.

I like that some mobs have some skills that are affixes on rare/champion packs. Some mobs can teleport naturally, or have a pestilence naturally, or knockback naturally. Then you have the difficulty levels, where the higher the difficulty, the more affixes you deal with.

Then you combine these two ideas, and things just break down. :P

I'll say though, playing through the game a lot now, those mobs are probably among the worst in the game. The damage they do just in general is kind of absurd. They hit as hard as those mobs in act 1 that do the overhead smash you can dodge, but as a normal melee swing for them.

We talked about "hidden affixes" with the devs recently. In truth it should be no mystery what creatures are capable of. Part of learning the game and its mechanics entails understanding what different creatures do whenever you encounter them. By the time you even hit Nightmare you should have a pretty good understanding what a champion or rare pack will do just by seeing the monster type (knowing their core abilities) and the affixes listed under the nameplate.

Listing their default abilities as affixes along with the random affixes they're assigned just seems a bit awkward. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

MVPs

MVPs are not chosen because they're hardcore or elitist. Besides, in our eyes everyone is on pretty equal clout footing here. It doesn't matter whether you still eat, sleep, and breathe Diablo II: LoD or if you're the best StarCraft II player in the world -- you've owned Diablo III no longer than most other players on these forums and can't claim you have a better say in which posters are most valuable to the entire community.

And no matter how many people might reply to me saying otherwise, MVPs aren't chosen based on their ability to agree with any decision Blizzard makes either. They're Blizzard gamers who are very familiar with our forums and our rules, and they enjoy talking about Blizzard games with their peers.

The MVP flag is also designated to an entire Battle.net account, so we're not going to tell someone who was chosen for MVP based on posts on the World of Warcraft forums that they're not allowed to post about StarCraft II or Diablo III.

This is all explained here: http://us.battle.net...opic/4038704716

That said, we're looking to select more players as MVPs and intend to pick them directly from the Diablo III forums. We haven't done this yet since the game is still very new. Until then, you can expect to see MVPs on these forums who originally came from the StarCraft II or World of Warcraft forums.

Another point worth bringing up in this thread:

As community managers, we can see your posting accounts when you report a post. If you think reporting every single MVP post will successfully get them banned, you're wrong. We're not going to blindly issue a suspension just because you reported a post. What we will do, however, is check to see if you're just reporting every MVP post you see and then issue you a suspension for that. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)
