10 Character Limit Per Region
Bashiok has shared with us the final plan for the amount of heroes you will be able to create per region.

Is the 10 character limit purely for the D3 beta? Or will we be limited to 10 characters for the full game?

We're sticking with a 10 character limit per region for the foreseeable future.

Poll Recap - Hardcore Vs Softcore
Awhile ago we had highlighted some recent polls on DiabloFans. One of the more interesting polls was the debate between playing Softcore or Hardcore in Diablo III. Obviously, most players chose to play softcore given the numerous deaths most of us will face but there are a few daring players who want to risk it all with Hardcore. Whether or not Inferno changes their mind, at least upon death, players will still be able to view their slain heroes with their new Hall of the Dead feature.

In the first screenshot, we see a DiabloWiki.com - Wizard

A little bummer with just 10 character slots but it at least allows all classes with both genders. Luckily they said foreseeable future so we could see them rise around the next expansion.

And I will be play softcore the first time through regardless. But once I get familiar with the game and all the mechanics, then I might attempt some harcore.

I think you guys missed the hole point of that post

We already knew 10 characters, what's new and awesome is it's 10 per region, we never had that confirmed. This is great news

10 isnt a bad number thats more than you can have per server on WoW right?

I think wow is 10/account. I forget.

I can't see the point of making more than 5 toons, though ? Why bother ? Maybe some hardcore toons, but even then, that's 10 max.

It's the same As wow. 10 per server, 50 per account

What's good is people thought it was going to be 10 total. But its confirmed 10 per region so we can have more than 10

5 softcore classes 5 hardcore. Perfect =) I see them raising the limit by probably 2-4 with the first exp pack since it will most likely introduce 1-2 new classes.

I'd hoped for more and 10 per account is indeed good news.
Maybe Blizz will add the chance to buy character slot later (both via gold or real money)

I had an obscene number of characters in Diablo II, so this will mean I need to be a bit more disciplined in D3. But with the way skills are set up, this shouldn't be a problem as there's a lot more chance to try out different things with the same characters instead of having to reroll.

I'm also more likely to play on different regions now that they've confirmed it's not 10 total. Thank goodness for that.

10 seems a little low for me. I like levelling. If I want to make a char with different playstyle, i'd rather level a new one, then re-spec and re-dress an old one. So, basically, its 2 per class... I guess, I'll survive, but I wish it was 15-20. Oh, and there is hardcore I intend to try too... , no, 10 is too low.

Well, I see where some people might be coming from and won't play on different regions for reasons like - latency issues, language barriers, disconnection from your main characters and home region, unability to use the other regions' RMAH (although being unable to use other RMAH is a very good thing). For those type of people, essentially you are limited to 10 characters.

Well that depends on how the US region is split up? Also a lot of people here WILL be playing 2 reigns, US and EU as this site has so many members from all over, people are going to want to play with some of their other forum members, cross region is going to happen a lot. And its good news and important to note, that these other regions dont count to an overall 10, but to a region 10.

I'm a compulsive character creator so 10 feels not so good to me.
I hope to be able to play on the US realm(s?) with no latency issues, that would double the lot at the very least.
No, I don't very much like the idea of selling characters, I create them and grow affectionate to each of them and no, respeccing is not the best solution to me, I like to create a char from scratch.
I could delete previous ones but it feels so wrong...

I understand that other players don't think this will be a limiting factor....but for me, and others like me, it will reduce the fun a bit.

Still, the game will have is rules and I'll have to choose between playing it the way it is or to not play it at all.

Could you not just make another account on a different computer?
Then you could sign in from your PC at home or wherever?

no.. you play on another region.. they cant just hand out unlimited characters. Though I wouldnt mind splitting the limit between harcore and not.

Maybe they want power lvling services to only have 10 chars per account available for the AH. ( in earlier screenshots of the AH, you were able to sell characters.) so they have to buy more accounts : )

thats for players to sell. Blizzard will never have anything on the AH, thus something like more character spaces would be not be on the ah, the blizzard store maybe.

About the runed-skill-vids. Am I the only one that notices the time difference between the actual hit and the animation? In this instance, the animation happen before the corresponding hit...and it's fucking irritating. Also I know we won't concentrate on this while playing the game but still...

I wouldnt be paying attention to that kind of stuff in the video.. they are 100% just to get an "idea" of what its going to look like, small stuff like that is most likley nothing to worry about for live.

I thought all games had limits to the number of characters you could create on a specific server/realm/region?
