Fifteenth Batch of Screenshots and Art
The first image is a digital painting of Diablo, from last years BlizzCon. Take note of that ridiculous extra mouth on his left shoulder, ScyberDragon thinks that Baal, Mephisto, and Diablo will merge into one being... Might have some merit?
The second picture is a screenshot from that same unknown dungeon that we've seen previously, which we believe is called King Leoric's Torture Chamber, of the Male Wizard, just cruisin' around.
The third picture is a screenshot from last BlizzCon's area of the Demon Hunter, using his Fan of Knives skill against a slew of enemies.
Click the images to bask in the glory of the high resolution versions that you likely won't see anywhere else! 25,000 more likes to go until the 925k mark where we can get some more images, and 4 more milestones until we hit the 1 million 'Like' goal. Go visit facebook.com/Diablo and 'Like' the page to speed the war effort!
That's his right shoulder.
Hi folks, It's been a long time I haven't been around. Hopefully some might remember me from my participation as a staff member back in 2008.
I can confirm the three images provided by Sixen are not fake. All the images are submitted to most Diablo III fansites in high resolution (Facebook resizes all images).
For the 900,000 Likes, all fansites got them earlier because the 25,000 mark usually hits by the end of the weekend, and it takes a few hours to email the images to everyone after the fact -- so we got them earlier as a token of <3 love from Blizzard to its fansites and fans.
I have noticed Blizzard is only posting the concept art in Facebook, and the screenshots sent to fansites are not been posted, so I assume they deliberately let fansites get the exclusive of showing the screenshots, which I consider very nice of them.
I miss all of you (except LinkX) (j/k)! Thanks again to everyone who helped me get to Paris during the Blizzard Worldwide Invitationals.
Personally, I don't like watermarks on images, but it's a needed evil. I have to watermark mine too. The reason is that some websites link directly to the image without properly linking to the source. And the top reason, forums from all around the world might link to the image directly and not even provide a source link -- this is wasted bandwidth. Some of the images are over 1MB. The first high resolution images given to fansites were over 3MB.
Now take in mind a single forum can have thousands of views of the same page, over and over as people read and post and reply. Take in mind also when people reply, they get quoted -- where the image is duplicated. If you read 20 pages in a single thread, and each page has several quotes displaying a copy of the image -- now we are talking about a ridiculous amount of Megabytes of bandwith spent just because the person embedded the image itself into the forum, instead of providing a link to the source.
Multiply all that by many forums worldwide -- then we have a website out of bandwith and not a single person even knows what's the URL of the source. Bad mojo. The watermark at least lets people know the name of the website, and if they are curious they might type it and visit the source page and bookmark it to be a place to visit often. Happy ending. =)
Oh wait, now you have new posters joining the community! That's the purpose of the watermark. A necessary evil.
It doesn't has to be each release being an exposure, a leak of something important in the game. But they can drop concept arts that are demons which are instant scribble work. Even parts, an arm, a leg. Gears they just poop right out of their mind.
That way we get more stuff. Even be getting comics perhaps!
Also, hai MD. Thanks for clearing that up, ;P. Though, I don't know why people would think I'm posting fakes, :(.
Holy cow....Look who it is!
And...Whats the point of watermarking images that are in several places on the web? If they were exclusive to Dfans that would be one thing but...Those images from fb will be on several fansites, have been up at sonnsofthestorm.com for ages...I don't see why it's necessary per say.
Welcome. Felt I should clear it up. Not sure either why a couple people thought it was fake either. Hurts self's feelings. Ain't we earned the trust over the years? [j/k].
Someone posted in page 1 Blizzard might be busy on Monday, thus they released the 900,000 likes reward earlier for that reason.
As I posted today [sorry no self-plug], Mike Morhaime will reveal Diablo III beta details on Monday, May 9 at 1:30pm PDT (4:30pm EST). Usually, Public Relations will tag along with him at the event.
@Artwork: Does that spike have some kind of story significance, you think? The one on the end of the chain? Wonder what it's doing...
The only story in Diablo lore that significantly deals with chains is the one little tale where Inarius meets his demise.
I imagine myself not going to antyhing outside of my room except for the fridge and toilet when this game comes out, for a month
And yeah, i'm sure that is the reasoning. They haven't released them this early before, I just didn't want to make people over-anxious, after Bashy recommended that the regulars don't bother listening to the call, but just checking fansites afterward.
No they said they'd reveal all the systems before beta. Announcement of beta doesn't necessarily mean beta in a couple days.
“As for Diablo III, development continues to go well, and we’re very excited about the game. Our most recent public showcase for Diablo III was at the G-Star show in Korea, where demo stations attracted huge lines of players. I’m looking forward to sharing some more news about the game and our upcoming beta on the next call,” said Mike Morhaime on February 9th, 2011.
I thinks that quote is very straightforward. =)
Not really, hes gotten his ass kicked twice now
