Second video said that diablo 1 was shown to the public first at e3 1996(may15th), the game was released later that same year(nov 30). Six month wait compared to our 3 1/2 year wait...lucky gamers...

Uh, no, the video takes pains to mention that it missed christmas and came out a bit after New Year's.

Point still is that the time between announcement and release has increased significantly.

Can't blame them either. It probably becomes increasingly harder to create a game, with all the different details that interact and stuff. Not to mention all the balance and innovation and iteration and...

Listened to the first one and will listen to the second one in due time. I liked the first one's style.

That's less than half of it - they basically stopped doing anything except rehashing their 90s titles once WoW shipped and was an instant hit.

Who can blame them? That subscription model makes billions, and cannibalizing it would be insane.

Most businesses are started with a balance of finding something interesting versus wanting to make money, and eventually become a pure money thing.

a conversation i had with a mate on the weekend inspired me to watch the 20th video from blizz. these were a good follow up

That first RTS game from Westwood looks alot like Cannon Fodder btw. I guess it was inspired by that? And RPM Racing looks alot like Skidmarks! I used to play those two games so much back in the day

You mean Command and Conquer? It was based on Dune. Cannon Fodder was also a cool game though. Damn I wish Westwood was still around.

Phew! I could see my self feeling disappointed when another company came up with diablo. As soon as they labeled it "Blizzard North" I was relieved. Nice.

Nice find! Freakin loved Rock and Roll Racing. I love how Blizzard found something they liked (Diablo)and just took over infected it like a virus thus creating Blizzard North(A good and pleasant virus that...umm yea just a good virus). I liked the humble beginnings approach the video takes. It makes it somewhat inspiring. Lastly can anyone prove or disprove the the song rolling at the end of the first video is one of the main themes in TMNT Radical Rescue? I feel like it was but no longer own the game.
