Mr. Wizard

After only a week form the unveiling of the female Barbarian, we were shown a close-up 3-D model of the male Wizard. While he have seen a few concept pictures of him and some low resolution screen shots of gameplay, it is nice to see him up close and personal.

Official Blizzard Quote:

Diablo: Visit Diablo3.com for a close up view of the male wizard's in-game model, then check out two screenshots also added. http://cot.ag/Tzp4F
Matching the unique East-Asian look of the female Wizard, the male Wizard looks very distinct. In this version, the Wizard is dressed in ornamental robes and a very peculiar head piece. However, form this picture, it is easy to see how the Wizard's armor is going to upgrade while still keeping the look of the flowing robes. There were also two new screen shots of him added to Diablo3.com as well, attacking some skeletons in Act II.

In this post by Bashiok, he states that the difference in gender has no effect on your character other than looks. He says that your strength and dexterity and other stats will be the exact same. In line with this, it appears that the background story of each character stays the same regardless of gender as well. Many have speculated that each gender would have a different story yet the story given on each page remains the same regardless of which gender you are looking at. However, Blizzard may not have gotten to these yet considering that the pronouns remains constant as well.

With the Barbarian, Wizard, and Monk now shown on the site, the Witch Doctor remains the only class left with only one gender. There is an impressive representation of what she might look like by Odonthe1st, here.

So with no real difference between the genders, which do you plan on playing and why?

Special thanks to Captain_VanGore, snillum101, enkeria and the many other devoted fans for catching this news and lorenzo von matterhorn for creating a thread on the male Wizard.
