In addition to the slip up on the Anaheim Convention Center's website, Jay Mohr went ahead and made a tweet about it on Feb. 4th, confirming a BlizzCon 2010, which was removed less than 30 minutes later.
Of course, Blizzard's statement on the matter has still not changed.
Official Blizzard Quote:
Blizzard Entertainment has not announced any details about the next BlizzCon. We recommend that players refrain from making any BlizzCon-related travel plans at this time.
Sure they have yet to announce anything, and making travel plans prior to getting tickets might not be the smartest thing to do, but what they haven't said was no to the Con in Anaheim as they flat out said the Con would not be in Vegas last time. With that in mind, it seems like the 2010 Convention has been all but officially confirmed; I would expect another California Adventure.
With Jay Mohr being one form of entertainment, who should expect to do the big musical finale? Every year, Blizzard has gone with someone bigger and better, but who can top Ozzy...?

Heh; Blizzard explicitly said that Vegas would be a no-go. This time around however, they haven't said anything of the sort.
Purely based on my own speculation, 1) They felt like they needed to remind the LVCC who is the boss by cancelling the original date (and not many conventions can guarantee 20K+ people at high prices like they can) 2) keeping that plan on ice for another 6 or 9 months gives more breathing time to spend another 6 months on Cat, which can't help but be a little distracted by the all-hands-on-deck to ship SC2. It also gives the SC2 team a little time to put together teaser material for SC2 part 2, which will be a 2q12 ship, in my guess.
I think they still want to do Vegas, and not Anaheim.
I suppose that theory would make sense... Though I personally don't see why they would change it to Vegas, and why they would have the ACC put it up there.
Besides, BlizzHQ is in Irvine, which isn't too far from Anaheim. Making their employees go on a Vegas Vacation might be a little much?

I'm a nerd, don't get me wrong. But how nerdy do you have to be to go to a convention that is 80% WoW (10% sc and 10% diablo)??? What actual benefit to society or the economy does wasting money on Blizzcon do?
Going to a tech convention gives you information on the tech market. It even helps to drive innovation. Going to a boat show, sportsman show, or even a car show all have products to market and sell.
FFS, blizzcon is a waste of money, and imho people that waste the money going there need to grow up and start spending your money less frivilously.
Thunderstruck
I come here to diablofans.com and look and ask around because chances are, it's going to be here first. After it gets put on Blizzard's home page, of course. And the only price I pay for that is my phone bill.
Because it's fun? I've gone every year and I have a blast every time. I can't say i've been let down... *knock on wood*
Anyway, BlizzCon is always open to the public, provided you have a ticket, of course.
Lil' Wayne is more my style, ^_^. I'd be pumped if him and T-Pain (T-Wayne) did the closer..
Hahahaha, PAXEast is in Boston this year...
What's PAXEast? Never heard of that one before.
I've never heard of him.
But I can wait 8 more months to see the final D3 class, and most likely Cataclysm and SC2 will come out shortly after the event.
Man, the SC2 beta is going to last a long time, and Cata beta probably will be out in 3-5 more months after SC2 beta.
At least I'll have plenty to do before D3.
PAXEast, :P.
Jay Mohr is a comedian, yes. He's been at the last two-three Con's, I forgot if he was at 2007.
*cough*I've had press passes every year*cough*
It's still fun. It's hard to describe; it's the entire atmosphere. That, plus it's California... I don't live in CA, but I plan on moving there after I finish getting my degree... It's way nice.
It depends what you do at Blizzcon that determines how much of a waste it is. Playing D3 was worth the $125 I shelled out alone, getting to play SC2 was a great treat and making a kid get up in rage and cry from SC2 was the highlight of whole trip. I wouldn't waste your time doing the booths or interviews as they are all gonna be online as soon as they are over with, spend time with the games and theres tons of stuff around there that is cool.
Also Sixen California is expensive, and except to be on the highway to get anywhere and expect to be slowed down and in stop and go traffic on that same highway, also expect to take multiple highways to get where you want. I lived there from July 09-December 09 and was 30 mins from Blizzcon and it was great but unless you are raking in the doh you are living in the ghetto.
Thanks for the heads up, vlad. I'd be looking to go to Southern Cali, near Anaheim/Irvine/San Diego, :p.
