Blizzard Joins Facebook Rave

Blizzard has finally joined the Facebook craze in an attempt to claim its share of Facebook's 300+ million users as fans. Functioning much as the Diablo Twitter in offering micro-updates and playing on popular web-based communities, it will likely come to host its own exclusive tidbits and growing fanbase.

Interesting choice of words there.. Finally? So you were waiting in anticipation for this day to come?

Otherwise... um I don't really have anything to say about this news. Standard marketing and all that.. it's to be expected of a large company.

Yes, that was intentional. I figured it was only a matter of time after they did this with Twitter and, like you said, it's a standard procedure for most modern companies, especially those geared toward youth :P

Couldn't care less. Facebook, Twitter and all the other bullshit are incredible unsecure. Well with the introduction of the new battle "spynet" they already joined the data collecting so not a big surprise here.

    Meaning unreliable for accurate news?
  • #5 Dauroth
Well, they already have 9.245 subscribers and it seems that the number is getting bigger rapidly!

It would be great, if somehow we had a DiabloFans Facebook.
That would probably be very helpful in acquiring a larger FanBase.
  • #7 Dauroth
That's actually a good idea! You should ask Sixen and the rest of the staff what they think about it!

    Indeed, indeed :D

    Teal'c?

Anyhoo, I got something against Facebook and Twitter. Just seems a bit... stereotypical.

Don't go stargate bitchin' yo <3

Personally I'm not using Facebook nor Twitter, but since I've got this wonderful forum to redirect news for me I won't have to get either :)

    Edit:
I have a feeling, though, that the Facebook channel will distribute exactly the same news - only to a larger community (possibly answering more questions?).

Blizzard joins facebook means they got another page to fill up with news = blue tracker + twitter tracker + facebook tracker = nice :D

I just imagine if they have a especific employee to update facebook and twitter now...

A:"Hey man, what you do your work ?"
Blizz guy:" Ahh i just stand on twitter and facebook all day !"

    O.o
  • #13 Magistrate
Well, Facebook and Twitter are pretty integrated last I saw, so I would guess it's just to extend the same Twitter stuff to a broader audience.

Nice, all the need now is some kind of pointless flash game series. I would settle for a remake of Bejewled with e Diablo theme...

I joined it. I check facebook fairly often to keep in touch with old friends, family, etc. so I may as well get the Diablo updates that way too.

I'm actually a bit surprised they waited this long to make a facebook page, it doesn't really take any time/resources to have one and it promotes the game well enough.

    lol'd

I think this was a really great idea.
To be honest, for the people who dislike the use of twitter, like myself, but use facebook, this will allow people to get the news they want on a site they're (probably) often on.
  • #18 Turmobil
Well it's in the trend right now so whatev. Just seems a bit silly.

Wow, didn't really see this one coming, though in a way I guess you could predict it... Everyone and their mother is on facebook as it is one of the most popular social networking sites in the world! AAAAHHHHH....
