I don't think that there is anything wrong with the preoders that exist right now. When the officially release date is announced the companies will adjust and you will keep your preorder. My problem with preodering now is that most companies will give you extra stuff for preodering once they get the official news from blizzard. So the only downfall from preodering now is missing out on exclusives and bonuses that they will offer later.

Personally, I wouldn't pre-order it from anywhere but Blizzard right now just to be safe. That said, I'll probably wait until the game has an official release date because (like OathofChaos) I'll want to buy whatever Collector's Edition they inevitably come out with, rather than just the normal game itself. Can't wait to see what kind of goodies they pack into it!

I'm pre-ordering once a release date is released to us dogs, who ever so slightly drool for the next tidbit of information. If I don't get more information from blizzard on whats going on with the new patch, I will bite the hand that feeds me.

There is nothing wrong here, they are trying to make money and a pre order is a pre order, you'll get it when the game is released, even if thats in years.

Anyway, I find pre ordering a bad idea in the first place, especially when people get it late (I think thats hilarious, you order 1 year before the game is out, and I get it first because I just walk to the store.). I don't think this happens everytime, though? But I did see that with some games.

I never feel like I "have" the game already when I pre-order, so whats the point? I'd rather just wait for it to be released, and get it directly myself. It just feels better like that.

I'll wait till an official release date, then order from blizzard to get the goodies, like mockery said.

I'm not much for pre-ordering games, though I did for Borderlands, but I will wait until something more official comes out...dunno if I trust these websites that are already taking them.

Once blizzard gives a release date i will pre order. But for now it is at least another 2 years away. So I am not too worried about it right now.

Same here, if any exlusive packs are going to ship outside of the states. Gonna be very hard maybe to get an exlusive.

Yeah, I'll pre-order when Blizzard posts a release date and no one else. I've been through this countless times with other games. Never ever trust retailers/vendors. They just want your money. They don't know squat about the game's release.

Something made me laugh about all these early pre-orders.

I went to a EBGames(Gamestop) last summer(at the start of june) to buy an Xbox360 game, and the salesman offered me to pre-order Diablo3. I laughed a bit at him, saying "Shouldn't you offer me a pre-order for SC2, since it'll be released a lot earlier than Diablo3?" and his answer was: "I wouldn't be that sure of it, Vivendi sent us a notice that D3 should be released in January or February 2010".

So, I only said no thanks, as I understood that this salesman was simply REALLY poorly informed. Anyone following D3 news even just a little bit would already know it if Vivendi sent a notice for a D3 release date, even if it's just an estimation.

Anyway, I told him that I'll take Diablo3 pre-order offers seriously only when Blizzard will announce Collector's Edition, and that I'll buy the Collector's.

We should'n't take any of these pre-orders seriously, except if you don't mind not being 100% sure to get your game... Of course it's "safe" but nobody knows what'll happen in this "at least" 1 year... I know it's not likely, but what if GameStop or the place where you pre-ordered it was to close because of financial problems, within the next year? Or if the list of pre-order is destroyed within this 1+ year?

I think it's really too early. Why would you pay that early for a game you'll only play in a year? To make sure to have the money when it's released? I'm sorry but there are a lot more(and safer) ways to make sure of that.

I only pre-order if i get a good deal.
(eg. Left 4 Dead 2 4-pack divided by 4 people = $33.75 for a brand new game)

I'm too friggen poor, but can muster up some money around the release date to get a copy. Whether that be digital or authentic.

Pre-order 6 months ago, lets say, $100

Pre-order 6 months into the future for the same $100.

In that year you wouldn't have missed out on anything, and gained maybe $4 interest.

Purchase on the margin. It doesn't cost anything to wait until its officially announced, and unless there's a first come first serve option, you are not gaining anything.

Personally, I wouldn't, at least not until the release date is released. Partly because Im paranoid when it comes to anything involving me spending money on the internet. But there is probably nothing wrong with ordering it now.

WAY to frikin early to pre-order. I don't pre order until a month or 2 before the ABSOLUTE release date.

If Blizzard had it for sale pre-order on their store, and it shipped out early I might think about it. But otherwise I don't want to get stuck waiting for it to come in to the store or mail when I could just go to the store to get it that minute.
