Blizzard in Germany, GamesCon 2009

Well, as evidenced by the near-constant, and perhaps highly justified, cries of many people outside the USA when so many North America-specific sweepstakes and contests, as well as the BlizzCon being only in the US this year, were announced, it can be clearly discerned that there are many Blizzard fans that wished they had another, easier way of getting to experience all that Blizzard has to offer closer than over-seas. However, there may yet be hope for many of you in the European area.

Over at the European World of Warcraft official forums (here), a Blizzard representative by the posting name of Ancilorn has announced that Blizzard will be in Germany's GamesCon this year:

Quote from Ancilorn »
We?re pleased to announce that Blizzard Entertainment will be attending gamescom 2009 in Cologne, Germany next month. We look forward to welcoming old friends and new to our booth, which will feature hands-on gameplay with our upcoming games. Our booth is open to the public from Thursday 20 August until Sunday 23 August.

We will be revealing more information on our activities during the show in the coming weeks. You can find out more about what gamescom has to offer, and how to get there, at http://www.gamescom-cologne.com/

And, in addition, stressed that there will be Blizzard recruiters there looking for prospective Blizzard employees:

Quote from "Ancilorn »
Our recruiters will be at the booth ready to answer your questions about recruitment and working at Blizzard Entertainment. Blizzard Europe currently has numerous open positions in quality assurance, localization, customer support and other departments in our offices in Velizy, France (near Paris) and Cork, Ireland. We?re looking for Italian, Polish, Russian, German, French, Spanish and English speakers. Bring your CV along and talk to us about our employment opportunities. On the official Battle.net forums, Bashiok added to this at the query of a poster here about what will likely be covered, as anticipated, at the GamesCon:

"Upcoming games" isn't broken down to specifics, but StarCraft 2 and Diablo III are both upcoming games, so draw your own conclusions.

So, many of you that previously thought you would be unable to attend a Blizzard event might be able to now get your wish if you are in the area, and you might even get to see and hear things that might not even be shown or announced at the BlizzCon. Who knows?

Hell yeah! Thats about 2:30 hours driving from my home in holland! I'll be there for SURE! :D Never thought Blizzard would ever think about its European fans anymore. I was soooo sad I wasn't able to play D3 because it was only in America (which is way to expansive to get there for me), but this looks like my golden chance! So, who will be joining me?
