Ladder Reset to Accompany Patch 1.13

As noted by our own member rrock54 here, Bashiok has announced on the Battle.net forums that the new patch will be coming with a ladder reset, and he also said that it could all happen as early as the end of this April:

We're preparing for a Diablo II ladder reset to coincide with the release of the 1.13 patch that's currently in development. We don?t have a final release date for the patch yet, but we're providing early warning as a reset could occur as early as the end of April. We'll be providing updates with more certain dates once the patch is closer to release.

Please be aware that with a ladder reset all ladder characters are moved to non-ladder. This means that your characters will still be accessible but will no longer have access to ladder-only features and games. In order to play in the new ladder season after the reset you will need to make new ladder characters.

This thread will be updated with more information as it becomes available.

Thoughts? Proclamations of enthusiasm and great joy? I, for one, can't wait to see what all is being changed and added, and will be starting again with the new reset- fresh chances and new content. It's a win-win scenario. I'm hoping many of you will consider dusting off your old LoD disc to start up again with the reset and this news in mind.

Oh happy day! I am so happy! What with the non ladder characters that are naked, etc. Boy this is exciting!

I'm not too enthusiastic about starting d2 lod again..I played every character, every possible way. I just don't think they can add that much to make it more interesting. Unless this is a major content patch, this is really not necessary. If this is a worth-while patch I will look into it.

    Thanks for the notice.

You're welcome. Since this is a Diablo fansite, after all, this is obviously something of great importance to announce.

SWEEEEEEEEEEET. Im gonna play in this reset :D cant wait!!!!

I might dust off my LoD CD for 1.13, depending on how much content it'll bring. A D3 tie-in quest is a winner for me.

    Fingers crossed.

Well, technically never stopped playing, but yes this brings great excitement. Hopefully it will be a good one! Thanks for letting us all know.

I'm really hoping the "content" part isn't hype. As in, I hope it isn't just a few runewords or something they add. I hope it's at least as much as they added in 1.11 with the Uber quest, but it really should be more than that. It was amazing seeing how much people wanted in the content patch with the previous announcement that they were taking requests from their fans- after all these years. It just goes to show how good and long-lasting their fans are.

We are devout! Blizzard has never given us the dine and dash treatment that other game developers have!
  • #9 Ftero
I will play it again for sure! I look forward to deleting all of my characters and starting off as a fresh Ftero! :D

I wonder if my idea become true XD as I said on that diablo 2 patch 1.13 idea thread "make bigger eventory or easier to xfer items between character to character ;P" lolzzz

Bashiok made a post awhile back hinting the new content was going to be pertinent to possibly be a new act or quest(s).

Can you provide a link to it?

I will finally start playing ladder, yay!
This is very exciting for me. I'm finally starting to play D2 more in depth, then before. Finally slowy staring to understand the economy, which is always a big step-backwards for me. Just can't keep up with everything.
    Fresh start. ^^
    PS.
Fingers crossed for SHARED STASH! (the NR. 1 new content request)

Comtemplating whether this is enough to drag me away from WOW. I still play DIablo II on the off chance I get some time to do so.

But this week is horrible. Im on call for work this week. basically cuts my week day free time in half, and kills my weekend.

That actually sounds like the most logical thing they could do. No one has ANY idea of what happened after the World stone. (well I don't at least) Also what happened with tyreal.

Yeah, and I think it would be the best for them if they mean to grab some more fans.

well there's plenty of space for D2/D3 lore tie-in quests in chapter IV!

Although it would make more sense to have that kind of stuff after the end of V.

How (or maybe where) do you think a lore tie-in quest would go?

YES! Awesome. Finally. About time! Cool. Great.

    Anything I haven't said yet?

    *excited!*

I'm gonna try and get in touch with some of my old friends and see if they want to play again..

One can only hope that monster randomization is fixed. I hate running into Oblivion Knights everywhere I go.

    again..

I totally agree with this wisdom!

I'll definately dust off my LoD again when this patch comes out! Oh wait, its in my pc already (yeah, i've been playing it on and off ever since it came out)! I really hope they at least add 1 quest, but that all I ask for really, cuzz we'll beplaying D3 soon enough, so we won't need a game-play improvement (although a higher resolution would be gold-like!) I'll need to make a new account though, cuzz it got deleted due to third-party software (I got a hack that allowed me to play at a higher resolution... well, not really, but it made a nice edge around the screen, so the screen didn't looked that streched, I really hope they'll implement this though.)
