When contacted by GameSpot, Blizzard reps shot down the GI.biz story outright, saying the outlet had not even followed up with any inquiries attempting to clarify Pardo's remarks.
"In the Lunch with Luminaries discussion, Rob said that Microsoft occasionally bounces ideas off of us, with no specific reference to any possible future consoles," said the rep. "This should come as no surprise, as our games run on Microsoft's PC operating system. We aren't in discussions with Microsoft regarding any future consoles." (Emphasis added.)
As the GameSpot story says, just because Blizzard reps shot the story down, it doesn't mean their games wouldn't be viable on a future console. Just don't expect anything like that to be available to the public as quickly as the PC game releases.
(thanks PlasticComplex)
I'm glad this was cleared up tho.
Why.........?
Tell that the Bioware. kthx.
Have people made Bioware aware that games on both the PC and Consoles are supposed to suck?
I think they missed that memo.
Edited to add props to CapKosmaty for actually linking the post!
oth: Does it irritate u guys that awesome games get released on consoles and us pc guys have to wait like almost a year to get em?
Lets let the consoles wait in patience before blizz graces them.
You do know they are making diablo 3 for the PC first right?
Once again my question stands, how will releasing a game multiplatform effect its gameplay?
your logic makes absolutely no sense.
It might if put onto the Wii.
Fable: TLC was put in XBOX and PC and it's gameplay was the same.
Consoles are mass marketed crap now adays. The Wii is chocked full of shit kid games, the PS3 has nothing but some good graphics no one can program with, and the 360 has a bunch of stupid arcade games and two good FPS' an a RTS I would have instantly bought if it came out for the PC, but it didnt.
Anyone who wants to sit down, strategically game, spend hours on end playing, and enjoying, would most likely have an easier time doing it with a hack n' slash and RTS on a PC rather than Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo's shitty money grabbing systems that promise greatness and deliver nothing but sub-parity. I'm sorry. Bioshock was a good game. Keep it on the 360. Diablo is a great game. Keep it on the PC. Ports make things worse, and make things take much longer.
HOWEVER...
If a game is being developed -specifically- AKA, Starcraft Ghost, FOR consoles, and has been designed ground up for specific consoles and is fine tuned, programmed, and expertly crafted for -CONSOLES-... That's different. However, don't dilute my PC games with mass marketed console bullshit.
EDIT: I don't know if Blizzard's ports may be... higher quality now? But if anyones played the original Diablo on the PS1, or Starcraft for the Nintendo 64, you may realize why the fuck I hate console ports so much. Both of those ports were aboslutely worthless and ruined the games in just about every way. They also didnt fit... AT all.
