Discuss what you think about this new Blizzcast which is supposed to be almost exclusively about Diablo 3.
Here are the four new Diablo 3 images that were included with BlizzCast 8 which primarily showcase the inventory system:
I (mockery) particularly like the little details, such as the difference in the stitching around the borders depending on whether you have a bag or a burlap sack selected. The inventory system as a whole looks really sharp if you ask me. What do you think about it?
(Thanks to Lord Petrov.)
i don't consider it a bad thing,... but say i just randomly give you this orange candy..
you didn't think you wanted it did you?
but try it maybe you do want it.
that's my attitude towards it.
no, i'm not complaining that they should be devoting their time to other things if that's what you're asking..
also bryan i really like the paper doll :/
Like different ways they'd die, different ways they'd leave their corpses on the ground, different cuts on their bodies and missing limbs etc. That way of thinking is the right way imo.
EDIT: I know you're not complaining, but it kinda came off weird that someone would not understand something like that. Timeframe or no timeframe.
As far as the 35 Death Animations... in a game where all your doing is killing hordes of monsters, the more variety we have the better. I agree that many of us could do without it, but I'm sure we'll all love having them once we've already beaten the game once.
Think of your first Barbarian using mostly a Shock Axe and an Ice Axe, then the next time forcing yourself to switch to Fire and Poison, or whatever. The end result will be the same, but will look quite differently.
Definitely helps with replay-ability.
Looking forward to it more and more.

i'm almost certain that they didn't take out the potions to begin with. i'm not sure if you read that somewhere or what but i always thought the orbs were just an addition.
i just thought the way it was in d2 with random way they fell and blood spray was fine (or popping if they died cold) i expected that but didn't think of wanting further...
can anyone say if this first picture is the way the inventory and images were like at blizzcon?
it's from the gameplay video just wondering if that's the way it was that bryan liked
(put the new one below to contrast)
Hahaha yeh I saw that. I didn't mind the older ones at all, but I guess these are fine too, a bit darker but seem to stick out a little too much. Anyways, who cares about that... the inventory looks sweet so far. Nice big pictures.
I'm so stoked for this game.
And new UI and character/inventory screens are SEXY. I didn't know that they're done by the artist who worked on Sanitarium!
I assumed that they were just keeping the old runes and using them for skills instead... that sucks, I loved the old little symbols...
I think they are both the new one... It's just red in the second pic because hes on a different tab. I could be wrong tho...
top one: one from the gameplay video from the d3 site. my question was if it was different from the ui at blizzcon.
(thanks for answers)
bottom one: the one just released today from the blizzcast
btw i don't like the red background either but otherwise i really think the new ui looks really good
I agree too. The only reason I liked the other style, however, was that it would give blizzard a reason to add character customization. Every time you open up your inventory you'd see all of your character's features. They had mentioned that they wouldn't add customization because you wouldn't see your character's face, but with that style of inventory you'd be seeing it quite a lot.
At any rate, I hope they add detail and a more gothic feel to the inventory bags. I think the headboard of the first UI looks much more bold and gothic than the headboard of the new UI. These, of course, are just small things but I think its still worth mentioning.
Remember Hellgate was initially going to use this little-and-big item slot system? It's just a massive mess; I doubt they'll stick with it. 1 slot, 1 item.
It's like the paper doll silhouette guy, it's trying to keep something that needs to go away.
Yep I noticed that also.
Dunno if I like or dislike that yet. I'm sure it'll just be black until identified though.
Agreed. So far, I'm ambivalent towards it as well. Disagree about black background until identified. The quality indicated by color is apparent when the item drops. Why wait to fill in the slot with color until you identify it when you already know its magic/rare/unique?
Ah that's true. I dunno what I was thinking. <slaps forehead> You're right.
It looks depressing this way? Lol'd hard.
Secondly, Diablo never had a paperdoll.
Third, why change something that isn't broken? The items are more easily accesible and distinguished this way.
They managed to somewhat evolve graphically on the D2 inventory layout in this regard and going back to the first inventory solution from D3 where you have a model of your character in the inventury would simply be a bad decision.
Leave the inventory as it is now.
And change the stained glass at the upmost part of the inventory tabs with something else.
