Blizzcast 8 is out!
It is available for download here:

Discuss what you think about this new Blizzcast which is supposed to be almost exclusively about Diablo 3.
Here are the four new Diablo 3 images that were included with BlizzCast 8 which primarily showcase the inventory system:
I (mockery) particularly like the little details, such as the difference in the stitching around the borders depending on whether you have a bag or a burlap sack selected. The inventory system as a whole looks really sharp if you ask me. What do you think about it?
(Thanks to Lord Petrov.)
....No seriously its not....
Now that the sarcasm is out of the way, and since I don't have time to read through all these posts I'll give my opinions on most of the Diablo related news. (By the way major props to Mike Nicholson for admitting the WOW inspiration for systems) Ok first, despite the obvious similarities to WOW I have to say it does look really cool applied to a Diablo game. I'm sure alot of us are going to appreciate more freedom in inventory management cause I sure as hell will. Skill trees look alot more exciting and I have to say I like the new names for the Barbs skill sets. And thats enough for that now though I would have much more to say if I could see all of this displayed in a gameplay video. I have one question about the inv screen. What is that spot on the bottom right? That green square with the gold face, what is that?
Secondly the replacement of the shrine aspect is a good idea. I seriously thought many shrines were a waste of time after Normal difficulty (cept the gem shrine). I really like the sound of items and equipments reflecting the build of your character. I am real pumped to see how that will be applied, especially to the trading community since what I gather from this is that alot of items will be judged on personal value in a sense. Thirdly, Hurry for the UI guy and the thousand pounder (Mr. Stay Puft) !!!! Fourth, props for unique monster deaths. And finally I have to see this new fury system before I comment since we don't get to much of an impression from here. Can't wait for another gameplay vid though.
The Barbarian doesn't have mana anymore, it's called Fury:
The "mana" or more correctly fury has been turned to a stoplight there is a video of what it looks like when it charges up. I suggest that you actually listen to the Blizzcast or at the very least read some of it they tell you most of whats going on in the updated UI
Wait... Thinking... Thinking...
Sorry but Diablo is fast paced action game just have them be chopped to bits. You wont be able to notice all the death animations as you just slash through mobs.
Like different Talismans produce different stats on a unknown item like Ancient quality or something.
Like for example you have 12 Talismans slots and there might be 30 all together and depending on the order you put them in while wearing these new item quality it will produce different stats.
Now this is a primitive example but it should be speculation. Could be the new rune word system.
Just a thought. Trying to think outside the box.
That's what I said. It definitely looks darker IMO.
I understand that your character is visible on screen.
I am a stickler for details. I like to see the texturing, the lighting and the mapping on models. Seeing a character that's an inch tall on screen doesn't allow me that opportunity. Like I said, I'm 100% okay with the inventory system the way it is now, IF the player is capable of zooming in.
Better yet, they could allow a button in the interface to open a new window where you can rotate the character to really be able to take in the visuals.
To not allow viewing the character up close, put simply, is a way for the designers to skimp on the detail.
So you don't need to discuss that any further.
Obviously, a guy in charge of the art is a fan of cartoons....
now you can start bashing me but I'll say what I think because i haven't really been posting anything on other threads where people argue about the new look of diablo.
Anyways, I look at the new screen shots, and its still missing that diablo feel no matter how much I want to force my self to believe that its actually the same old diablo look...
One color that sticks out the most is that ugly teal / aqua blue , thats a warcraft color that shouldnt even be in diablo. Diablo is a about dark ocean blue color , not about the warcraft 3 mana potion blue....
There are various other things that make this new diablo different from the old ones, not only color but the edges. the edges used to be sharp, 90 degree, and now everything is nice and curvy like windows vista and world of warcraft.... I notice that little gold pouch above the helmet in the inventory, and it just looks like a little hobbits bag for peanuts... WHY NOT USE an Epic DARK BROWN DIABLO COLOR for the POUCH , why make everything shiny and nice jeez...
I am sure the game will be great in terms of gameplay and all those other important factors other than graphics, but I presonally find it sad that when i look at this new game, something is constantly pissing me off, and I dont see the same old diablo without lying to myself all the time..:offtopic:
Agree with you completely. There isn't Diablo feel anymore. Everything is shiny, clear and bright opposite to first 2 games. Invisible, unseen, gritty, dirty, messy, unpredictable feel of the game's gone. I think Diablo feel is the most important thing in Diablo games not gameplay.
yea the thing is , i look at these screenshots , and although i can tell its diablo, I cant exactly figure out what da F*%%% is making it look like warcraft ... Im really not even sure anymore, is it the colour, or the edges, the size of things??, i really cant figure it out but its annoying that I can straight away tell that somethings wrong....
When i remember diablo 1, the color of potions and health globe was Deep Red, like blood, and mana was ocean deep blue. Rejuvination potions were dirty yellow, the fire from the church was dark red ( NOT freaking orange). .. . its these 16bit  colors that made the game look epic....
I even remember that warcraft 1 looked more epic and "scarry ' in some ways to what warcraft 2 and 3 moved to. I remember showing my brother warcraft 3 when it came out (he was the first generation that played wc1 and hasn't really been gaming much since), and he was like, damn wtf this looks like crap...
hmm i dont know what to say anymore. Theres not much we can do, lets just hope the gameplay will be as good as diablo 2 , and that will hopefully remove this ugly soft non epic graphic look of the new diablo..
Come on, it looks good. If you want to play D2, play D2. If you want to play a newer D2, wait until the patch comes out and play that.
*to be said in the tune of a football song*
D3, whatever it may be, although it has some history, doesn't need to be the same, but a huge improvement on an old old game
They answered a lot of smaller and technical type questions that have been going around since they first showed the game and from what I am seeing, they are doing a very good job.
I like the skill tree setup, it has a lot of well done artwork with most of the icons being something you would never see in WoW. While it may be the setup that WoW uses, do remember that WoW's talent tree was based off of Diablo II's skill tree. If Diablo III came out before WoW and had the exact same setup, nobody would be complaining.
The ui looks very nice as well, a very simple way to make sure you can take in the artwork put into the item portraits while not having to worry about only being able to hold 4 pieces of armor/weapons, etc.
The Fury system for the Barbarian seems like a great setup, Barbarians using mana in Diablo II was probably one of the dumber aspects of the game so I fully welcome this new system.
I also like the idea of having as many different types of enemy deaths as possible. People saying they are wasting time by doing so and that you would never notice the different deaths when plowing through waves of guys.....way to go on thinking you speak for everyone that will play Diablo III....seriously...
More variety, the better. More variety = more replayability and replayability is Diablo's specialty. Just think of the fun Wizards and Witch Doctors can have with all the different magic elements resulting in different deaths.
All in all this Blizzcast, while not a barrage of new info was given about the game, put my mind to rest on plenty of things I was wondering about the game and I am happy that they revealed what they did.
One more note, the new screenshots are great and really do seem to have more of a darker atmosphere to them which is a good thing.
Can't wait to see more on this game!
It's all there, rings and amulet. You said it yourself!
