I wanted to take a moment to let the community know that I?ve switched roles here at Blizzard to work on our upcoming, unannounced MMO. World of Warcraft has been such a central part of my life these past six and a half years, and it?s success would not have been possible without the tremendous community around it, so I wanted to say thank you to all our players who?ve shared this amazing experience with us so far. Also, while I have served as the spokesperson and Game Director for World of Warcraft on Wrath of the Lich King, by no means would WoW be where it is today without the dedicated team that we have in place. The WoW development team is comprised of some of the most talented and experienced game developers in the world, and it was an absolute honor to serve amongst them, and they will continue to make WoW better than ever. I still plan to be very involved with the future course of World of Warcraft, but will leave the day to day operations of World of Warcraft to my partners in crime, Tom Chilton and J. Allen Brack.
When all is said and done, WoW is still my favorite game. I play it every day. None of that passion is gone. If anything, it fuels the challenge of making our next MMO even better. We know we have some big shoes to fill. So thank you to everyone who has been so supportive over the years, and likewise, thanks to those who have given us pointed feedback on all areas of the game. Without all of the feedback and participation, WoW would not be the game that it has grown to be. Azeroth truly belongs to you and we?re lucky to have shared in your journey. And as always, I?ll still be lurking on the forums and in the game.
Mostly, I just wanted to say thanks. It has been an absolute honor.

So is anybody else wondering if Blizzard's next MMO will be based on the Diablo series?
If people enjoy something it has a greater probability to be a failure, because people have no taste nor brains and enjoy failure the most. Look at Titanic.
To not be a failure the product needs to be of quality. If it is not, it's a failure regardless of how much money it got.
Its a failure for you..and thats fine but in the eyes of blizzard and the millions of fans it has it sure isnt. I agree tho a lot of ppl have BAD taste but wow has a lot going for it IMO, great lore, rich detailed plot, awesome badass characters, and a very detailed world with lots to see.
A product does not need to be quality to not be a failure for a company...there concern is profit and sales and nothing more.....tho this is a blizzard game so quality is actually something they strive for....but for most people at the head of a company they could care less about there product being quality as long as its selling well
lol seriously i don't think it wiill be based on diablo 3, why would they make 2 diablo like games in such a short period of time
I could see this happening since it wouldnt really be competing with wow like a traditional mmo would.
Fact number one: Warcraft player used to be an RTS player.
Fact number two: It is in Blizzard's only interest to rather cancel projects they invested millions on already, than release something that doesn't live up to their reputation.
Fact #3: Sim City is not a kiddie game. Nor an MMO.
Blizzard has already hinted that this new MMO falls under the same category as WoW, when they said that they have no plans to stop working on WoW and that they are not considering a 'switch' to another game (yeah, oddly enough, they are not compelled to stab 14 millions of loyal players/payers in the back). What does that tell you?
Sim city is not a mmo but think of the sim factor of creating a character and doing odd stuff. It's not that hard to imagine a create a character, get a job, live in a world and do stuff style MMO. And yeah it is a kiddie game. Or more or less a bubble gum pop kind of franchise if you think about it now. How many die hard gamers you hear of talking about the new house they bought in the sims2 or what ever. total kiddie game.
