If you ever wanted to reminisce about the good old days, Project XII has written an article over his own user blog which has been featured on Hellforge entitled "Top Ten Monster Comebacks", which is a list of the 10 critters he'd like to see return from previous games in Diablo III.
It's Gharbad, not Gorebad... Other than that I'm enjoying the article so far, had to point that out though as he's one of my favourite characters from Diablo 1!
Where's the Oblivion Knight? Okay they weren't that cool in D2, but in D1 they were really scary evil looking :evil:.
And what about the Souls, who hasn't at least been killed once by a barrage of lightning coming at you from nowhere and then one of those ghastly being popped out of thin air.
Certainly both of them are more memorable than the Blunderbore and the Blood Lord (even though they were pretty cool too).
Bring back doom knights from d1 i love how they burst into blue flames. And the naked succubi they were a big pain walkin into a room of them (sience you gatta walk if your a dang warrior lol) I want to see the mages like Archbishop and his lil gang of teleporton bastards again.
while this was an ok read, I feel that the author of this piece will be greatly disappointed in Diablo III.
The reason I say this is because he expects too much of them. For almost every monster on his list there was a "since its been 20 years, they better have evolved into some badass monsters who can whoop your ass instantly"
... we all know that's not how it'll work in Diablo III, I think it was Jay who mentioned that Normal mode can be beat by spamming one skill the whole way through so...

Seeing as how not a single one of the modelers, animators, A.I. programmers, sound effects people or game designers who worked on any one of those ten monsters are working on it, yes, he may well be, if he's hoping for something similar.
I would rather see some monsters from Diablo 1 reappear in Diablo 3, because they were the most memorable ones. Most of Diablo 2's monsters are not that creative and well made. Maybe that's an over statement, but you just see more talent and skill involved in the creation of the orginal Diablo creatures. You can't compair a simple fallen one from the cold plains to a Knight you find in the 19th level of laberyth.
Based at a article i read somewhere i've created this tread.
Think about it and post ! The 5 monsters you REALLY want to come back in D3.
I will start:
1. Diablo 1: Stalkers. Those are the guys that becomes invisible and attack you.
2. Diablo 1: Advocate. Those casters that teleported like crazy, in such infernal way that you must use stone curse to face large groups of those.
3. Diablo 1: Overlords. We need the butcher to come back. Fresh Meat !!
4. Diablo 2: Flesh Demons. My favorite d2 monster.
5. Diablo 2: Venom/Pit Lords. Those are the perfect way to show a classic demon without fall in the commmon place.
