Gamespy asks Jay Wilson from Leipzig GC how random generation dungeons is so hard and unsuccessful sometimes to other companies and not for Blizzard. PvP gameplay is another topic discussed in this interview. At this point, PvP is merely in brainstorm-ideas mode, and not fully worked on. From what Wilson answered, it is obvious they wish to change how PvP worked in Diablo II, and make it more suitable for every player without the exploits associated with it that usually discourages players from playing again. Can you say, Gankers no more?
Other topic discussed was Diablo 3's financial model, whether it would be free-gameplay, subscription model or micro-transactions model. Read the three-pages interview
going pvp without people consent is moronic, it only pleases one side, wich is the "i'm lvl 99z0rz and i feel like acting like a moron and go around ruining low lvl games, i'm so c00lx0rz!!!!!11!111!!"
Again, i have stated that it is possible to create your own servers and either password them and limit the amount of players that are allowed in game, easily fixed.... the only thing moronic here is you for not using common sense.
alot of times in D2 there were pretty fun games, and suddenly some high lvl idiot with uber dupped gear would join the game and pk the crap out of everyone.
I played the game for 5 years and this only happend every once in a while, and i always found it funny really, again if you dont like it make your own server....
Uh because its just fun and simple? sorry for all the people who want a "Reward" for pvping instead of just being fun, you shouldn't have to obtain a prize for PvPing for it to be entertaining, if you do then you shouldn't even be PVPing.
again another WoWer.....
Why is it the PvP it self cant be just fun, there has to be a fucking reward in order for your to to be motivated to do it?
Im not saying you cant be competitive, im just saying they need to leave "rewards" to the monsters.
PvP motivated me to kill monsters in order for me to get better gear, thus improve how well i done in duels, i know some of the gear was insanely powerful, but most were items that shouldnt even be in game, aka. hacked/duped items (hex charms / white rings/ CCBQ, etc...)
Then again, you likely never played diablo 2, or didnt like too much, and likely flocked over to WoW and are now looking for something new, so i guess these are just pointless words considering they are going through one ear and out the other.
Diablo 2 had perhaps the worst PVP system of all time. Oooh, I got your ear, and another... and another... People can just run back to saftey at any time, potters, glitchers, assholes that wont let two lower level players fight. It was seriously flawed.
Arenas would fix all of this. And for your information, I have never played WoW. Ask anyone is SICK.

And again, i guess you think that: your opinion > the opinions of all the others who continued to play and still continue to play that game?
I admit though the ear thing was retarded, pointless... and lagged the hell out of the game....
As far as what you said, i have an easier fix.... make it so you cant hostile anyone 10 lvls below you, meaning u cant kill a lvl 40 if you are lvl 50 unless they agree to it, other then that it should be FFA.
8 posts and you are already insulting people around, and you are doing it because you wont be able to abuse the game mechanics to ruin games, well done, you are now a generic forum douchebag.
I only insult people when they flaunt how stupid they are, and how much common sense they lack, and you are doing it again by directly ignoring what i said, and instead resort to calling me a "douchebag", i would say the only one insulting anyone here is you.
Dont get butt hurt because you know i am right... im just stating the obvious which you seem to ignore in order to make this game a complete and total carebare package.
"our memory of what Diablo II was we found that it created a "DRAB, BORING GAME THAT DIDN'T PLAY VERY WELL""- Gay wilson... er jay my bad.
Says 1/3 of the team that created diablo II..
Well this along with them "thinking" about bringing subs into play (remember the rich only want to be richer, this is no different) and changing pvp, i really doubt ill be paying anymore attention to this game...
Yeah... if there's a sub fee theres no way i'm playing this, and if the pvp turns out to be a zerg-fest battlegrounds (if they do this i will murder the dev team)/arena/<insert stupid boring, and uninteresting pvp mode here>
remember blizzard THE MAIN FUCKING REASONS SO MANY PEOPLE PLAYED DIABLO 2 AND WHY PEOPLE CONTINUE PLAYING IS THE DUELING, IT IS SIMPLE AND FUN, if they forget this its game over for diablo 3.
REMEMBER SIMPLE AND FUN PVP = GOOD
OVERLY COMPLEX / ZERG-FESTS / MASS PVP = BAD
I DON'T FUCKING WANT A REWARD FOR KILLING SOMEONE, WHY CANT I JUST HAVE FUN KILLING SAID PERSON? I DON'T NEED A FUCKING PRIZE.
Though i would note that since there is only allowed 8 people per server that kind of nullifies the whole zerg thing, but with blizzard you never know what they might change.
Also to all the brain dead fucks who are whining about being PK'd,
Blizzard made it so you can create your own FUCKING ONLINE GAMES, YOU COULD CREATE YOUR OWN DAMN SERVER AND PUT A PASSWORD ON IT, SO ONLY YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS COULD JUMP ON, AND GUESS WHAT ELSE THEY DID, THEY MADE IT SO YOU COULD LIMIT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT COULD BE IN YOUR GAME.
Or did you fucks forget that? oh wait thats right, most people in this forum NEVER FUCKING PLAYED DIABLO 2, and have instead crawled over from WoW unknowing of any other fucking blizzard games.
Wow now that some impressive talk coming from a child any how what if I want to play with strangers to make new friend ever think of that and I don’t want some waste of space such as yourself coming into my game and killing everyone and what’s so hard you click player vs. player you make a game and bam you’re in a player vs. player game were you can kill to your heart’s content what’s so hard “oh my god I have to click something and type something so much strain on the brain D:” . The only person whining in this thread is you so get over yourself and this will be my last post pertaining to the likes of you.
If I remember correctly you can also set the level distance between the players that enter. Example your level 30 and you set it to 9 anyone 21-39 can enter. So if you are so worried about higher levels coming in and wrecking you it’s your own fault for allowing that to happen. Though people within your level range can still go hostile towards you but it’s not as bad as a level 90 going hostile towards you. It has been a while since I played, but I’m 90% sure that feature was available when creating a game. There is still the password option that you can just share it with your friends and play together. I do agree though that there should be a kick option for the creator or current host of the game.

true there is that but what if i or another one of the players wants to or is going to get assistance from a higher lvl for any number of reasons any how i wont say anything bad you have a valid point and aren't trying to flame or put anyone down. also this dose not mean we cant add a lvl restrict but even then the higher lvls lvl will be the cap and not all characters are made = when it comes to pvp some are better for that sorta shitty popping in and killing everyone will D3 be this way who knows i haven't played it so we will see when its out.
And again, i guess you think that: your opinion > the opinions of all the others who continued to play and still continue to play that game?

Opinions based in fact. I still play the game. Single player, way more challenging than "ooh I know, lets do another baal run and then kill each other with our totaly leet gear that we bought off a paysite"... PVM is where its at, ecspecialy if you download ES mod.
The thing about an arena is that you could have private matches that allow, for example 3X lvl 20s vs 1X lvl 60. Competitions would be a whole different thing. The principals of Diablo 2 pvp would still remain, only it would be more coherent, with less room for cheating, wussing out, and being an overall dick.
Also when you died in a big pvp game you were likely to die on your way to get your body. Once I was in a game where this asshole killed me (and I counted) 32 times before could get my body and exp back. Lost all my gold. Its just a cluster fuck that messes with the core gameplay. It left a lot of room for improvment, but you are so "nostagia" driven that you cant see that can you?
Jay's answer to the last question was exactly what I wanted to hear.
Diablo II's PvP system was horrible. I knew quite a few people who left because of those who seem to have no real respect for anything but their own desire for being a dickhead. Not everyone is into PvP. I started out doing it and it was a lot of fun. But after a while, the increasing number of arrogant slimeballs made it impossible to have any fun.
I really love the way so many of the hardcore PvP players like to turn everything around and make any problems concerning the abuse of the PvP system the fault of the ones who are tired of getting picked on; and who also pay no attention whatsoever to the FACT that they themselves are disrespectful to others, disingenuous, and are more the neighborhood bully than they are the competitor.
There is a word in the English dictionary that some people just need to get a grip on, something our society seems to have lost - if it every really had it in the first place - that word is R-E-S-P-E-C-T...
Why should I have to level lock or password my game so that I feel like I'm locked in a box where anyone can get out, but most can't come into the room in the first place? Why is it my fault that some of you are just outright fucking jerks? Is it because the current PvP makes you feel so ultimately powerful; or, since in real life you couldn't smash a fly with a flyswat, you get up on bnet and squash ants with a sledge hammer? What's fun about that? Nothing that I can think of.
I don't wish away PvP. I know it can be lots of fun; however, too many people I knew left bnet because of the atrocious behavior of a mob of self-servient buttheads, which, in turn, finally sent me looking for somewhere else to play online even though D2 is still my favorite game of all time. I'm really glad that they are rethinking it.

Jay Willson is a genius, and you are a retard who takes his quotes out of context. He said that it is how they remembered the game before playing through it again, and discovering that it was actually very colourful and vibrant. Apprantly 50.000 people also remember the game as a drab, boring game except that they never bothered to refresh their memory.
PvP without mutual consent can only be used to annoy other people and ruin the fun overall. It does not have a single up side. Does it? Also, your logic is retarded: if I play an online coop game, that means I may wish to make a game and invite 7 other people to do a boss run, and not lock myself in a passworded game just to evade some fuckheads who think killing someone without a fair fight is fun.
It seems that art complainers hate absolutely every aspect of this game and think that any improvement or something new is completely unwelcome. Interesting group of people this is I tell you! Rule of thumb: if big shoulderpads are too manly for you, you are probably not manly enough for true PvP where your your 'opponent' prepares for the fight as you did, and then rapes you in the ass, instead of having you cowardly lurk behind his back and taking him out while he's fighting a large group of monsters and/or being at 5% health. Combined with the mentality of kids who hate WoW because it's not free, having a loose PvP implementation as seen is D2 would be devastating. It's exactly those immature beings who have absolutely no reasoning for what is fun and what isn't, and think it's fun to flood the chats, kill their teammates in FPS games or in this case, sabotage peoples' gameplay by making them have to waste their time by restarting a game and doing something all over again, as if they don't have a life and sit their ass in front of the computer whole day, and only make a break when their mommy brings them Happy Meal when she returns from work.
You are dumb.
This means that you can't hostile other people. So in order to pk we will probably have to create special games(arena kind of games) for pvp only. Which is gay.
This is wrong, all they needed to do was add a timer to stop tppk, which is the only real exploit in d2's pvp system.
Is it gay because you now require actual skill to kill other people?
If you need a flawed pvp system where you can gank unwilling and lower lvl players to feel powerful then you are the f*ggot here sir.
I think that pvp should be like tourneys in arenas, like gladiators, have tournements to where there would be rewards for winning. with level restrictions though, say 40 people enter and you would have rounds and watch each fight till last man standing. then a reward of some sort, or maybe even allow big battles between players say 20 on 20 on a certian map portion . but how it was in d2 was not good. but i think it would be cool to have a gladiator style tourney or big battles. and let other people be able to be spectators.
Hey i've been following this site for a while now but decided to finally register and share my ithoughts in regards to pvp.
I've played D2 regulary for years now on Bnet and PVP is the one thing that has kept me playing. I've done everything there is to do in PVM 100's of times over and the only thing that keeps me playing is PVP. PVP is a real test, you get the chance to fight people that are equal to you and is basically the only thing in the game that is competitive. I can kill Baal on hell in full game in seconds without losing any life, whats the fun in that.
With PVP it keeps me interested in trading and magic finding just so i can find perfect gear for my PVPers.
Ok sure there are alot of people who ruin pvp for everyone, but I still wish they keep the option to Hostile someone without them agreeing to it. Somebody said before they should make it impossible to hostle a person 10 lvls below unless they agree to it aswell, that is a great idea. If they remove all hacks, remove town guarding, add a cap on who you can hostile without them agreeing and make it impossible to tppk then i think it will be great.
I still wish they keep the ability for you to hostle people around same lvl or higher without them agreeing. I love it when im baaling and some char will come try to pk everyone and i just pk them back. it throws in a bit of variation and fun into the game.
PVPing is a must and i really wish they don't water it down + please no areanas or prizes. I love just dueling in act1 and using the cracks in the ground and rocks to your advantage.
also sorry for such a long post lol
ps 1 more point in regards to sorbing. I dont care if someone uses 1 wisp or has stacked res but being able to sorb to the point where it actually heals your character is no fun, ruins the pvp game. so I think to limit the amount of sorb% a player is allowed to have is a good idea. let them add whatever sorb gear they want but have it max out at 25% or something along those lines. damage reduction has a limit at 50% so why doesnt sorb?
You have no idea how pvp will work. You can't just say "can't go hostile, so its gay". Wilson says "We don't have any specific plans yet because we haven't really made any active decisions." The pvp in D2 was complete crap, so making a dedicated pvp mode can only make it better.
Oh my fucking god......
No more player enabled pvp? WHY? All they have to fix is fucking tppk for god's sake.
This is total bullshit.
There goes half the fun from the game after beating pva 100 times.
At least we don't have to worry people trying to find out how to cheat like now.. there has been many many other ways than just tppk to exploit the system.
You are dumb.
This means that you can't hostile other people. So in order to pk we will probably have to create special games(arena kind of games) for pvp only. Which is gay.

Only? There has been many and it took a long time to fix them.. timeout hacks etc. Even maphack is a exploit to pvp.. you hostile someone and know just about exaclty where your target is. And whatabout these farcasts etc..
I don't miss the pk option at all.. no one has succeeded to kill me in legit ways so I don't really care.. it wasn't anymore exciting to play when you got hostiled.. just watched the map a bit and went town if someone happened to find you.
