IGN Australia has written up a pretty good article on their website entitled "The Ten Commandments of Diablo III" which features ten rules for every fan of the Diablo series to follow. Here are the Ten Commandments, at a glance:
1) Thou Shalt Play From An Isometric Perspective And Love It
2) Thou Shalt Have God-Like Power
3) Thy World Dost Change
4) Thy Avatar Shall Have A Voice
5) Co-Op Is The Natural Order
6) Thou Shall Not Use the C Word
7) Thou Shall Not Be A Degenerate Potion Huffer
8) Exploding Monsters Are Cool
9) Thou Shalt Be Top Of Your Class
10) Thou Shall Live For Loot
the IGN Article hit all the positive spots right on, they tackled everything, the looks, the new UI, the new Health System, The Loot System, etc etc
It was a very good read indeed, evebody needs to read that article.
Before i finish i'd like to emphasize on one part
6) Thou Shall Not Use the C Word
Since the announcement there's been a lot of debate among the fans as to the merits of the game's more colourful visual style. For the record, while we loved the dark, often claustrophobic feel of the previous games, we're big fans of the vibrant new direction. Just don't call it 'cartoony'.
At the Worldwide Invitational, Blizzard staffers made the point on a couple of occasions that 'stylised' and 'cartoony' are two very different things. Indeed, rather than fitting into a more cartoon-like approach, the look for Diablo III is really just falling more in line with the exaggerated, iconic style that Blizzard uses in its other properties.
They really understand what they are talking about here, Stylized =/= Cartoon
1st picture must be from 2001years.. old game lol...and d3 is nothing but 2006year old game..just like titan quest or wow or wc3..and so on..
P.S. 10commandments..people should stop making this all thing so hilarious..
LoL, Nope, pic on the left is from Blue Dragon which is a 2007 RPG game (Aug 28, 2007), you can check it yourself on any game site.
But actually you missed the point, Style is not related to graphics quality, it has to do with color choices, anatomy, and facial features, and the difference between D3 and Blue Dragon styles tells the whole story.

Completely and utterly agreed.
On a side note, the emphasis of the "C" word in commandment 6 was awesome.
A TRUE DIABLO FAN SHALL BE A DEGENERATE POTION HUFFER.
DONT TRY TO SELL THIS BS NEW DESIGN DECISION. I WANT OLD DIABLO DESIGN DECISION MFS.
Simple, play Diablo 1 and 2, problem solved
For god's sake, i tired so many RPGs and MMORPGs and many of them degenerate into potion spam which is stupid IMO, what's the skill in mashing a button mindlessly, Health Orbs adds a lot to the game and denying that is just not right.
-It encourges team work since any team member will get healed if he is near someone who took a Healt orb
-It encourages use of tactics and potisional combat which requires some skill and thought ( Gasp !!!? )
-It keeps you fighting instead of going back to town every five minutes to stock potions
If they are trying to sell the new design choice, they doing it for GOOD meaningful reaosns not Nostalgia.
Was thinking; did anyone ever consider that the demo we saw was a "dropped in event"? People are complaining about it, yet has anyone ever considered that it all might have been randomly done? Cool list btw.

Hard to think it was, they wanted to showcase certain things so they had to plan it all ahead.
I actually remember they said once that the demo had no radomness at all, it was rigged, but actual normal gameplay will be as random as Diablo always was.
I think he's just joking. No one can be that stupid.
If people fail to understand that the style in D3 is simply Blizzd 3D art style then they should stop playing Blizz games, all their games in 3D are stylized to give it a clear sharp personality specially with all the market bumping gray, brown relaistic dark clones in all game genres, they all look boring, muddy, and similar.
People seem to want D3 to turn into, Dark place #1, Dark place #2, Dark place#3, etc etc
As for the regular arguments
Rainbows= Go check a waterfall nearby, and don't be shocked to find a rainbow there, and it will still be there even if zombies have infested the whole world, cause natural light refraction has nothing to do with evil or zombies.
Rabbits= Did you guys even play D2, check ActV, they have somethings running around .... RABBITS ( gasp !!! )
Armor= It is huge indeed, but a guy at that size can wear an armor this large if he wants and can still fight with ease, and large armor pads are not cartoony, they exist in many games, movies, etc etc, WH 40,000 and Gears of War are just two examples, besides, armor comes in all sizes XD
Textures= they are freaking detailed even though they are not finished yet, fact is, all games get a huge graphical polish before release.
Light Radius= still in the game, go watch a high quality video and you will notice it, only difference is that the game is not pitch black and the edges of the light radius are softened.
Smiley Lion= i wouldn't have noticed that unless i was nitpicking, but whatever, smiling demons or winged lions are still Gothic style architecture, just add some more textures to it and it will look just fine, which is naturally going to happen before game release ( still think the game is so fast based and played from a zoomed out isometric camera, i wonder who has freaking time to look at tiny smiley winged lions )
Colored ambient= aside from setting mood, they are natural phenomenas, usually large places ( like the huge cavern we saw in the demo, yes it is an huge cavern not your typical D1,D2 floored dungeons ) has ambient light ( light blue due to sky color or the moon at night ), and through multiple reflections off surfaces the ambient light can exist inside a large place like the one we saw in the demo as indirect lighting, there is nothing weird or strange about it (mix the yellow light of the torches with the blue ambient light in the cave and you get your green ambient light near torches )
I'm sure the other places we will see in the game will have different colors and ambients, sometimes darker than the one we saw, sometimes brighter, which is called variety and is a very good thing IMO.
Color?
ahahaha C word = cartoony
Thanks for the link!

And i made something to further show the difference.

Could you possibly troll any more blatantly?
