In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Blizzard's president of game design Rob Pardo gave console owners a tiny sliver of hope that Diablo III could find its way onto their systems:
Now before you console owners get all excited, keep in mind that Blizzard has stated that they have no plans for console development and that Diablo III would be a PC and Mac exclusive. Still, it'd be interesting to see how Diablo would work on a console."I think it's theoretically possible. It would have some control changes that I think you'd have to make... But it's probably, of our major franchises, the one that's most console friendly, for sure. You'd need to think about a lot of the point-and-click spells, like point to area-of-effect, or things like line-damage in this direction. Target selection is something you're going to lose on console, you're really going to be able to do targeting direction, but not specific targeting. Out of StarCraft, Warcraft or WOW, Diablo would be the easiest game to translate. But it would still take a bit of work."
I'm sure some of you remember trying Diablo on the original Playstation system. It didn't look or play nearly as well as the PC version, but consoles have come a long way since then. So what do you think? Would you like to see Diablo III released on consoles as well or should it remain a PC/Mac exclusive?
I have 4 in the front because I bought the 80 GB one. Very wrong, my friend
I bolded the Xbox 360 portion of the post. Not the PoS3.
SO were both right this time...
But only 1 in the rear. There is however two in the front
...:necro:
I am sick of hearing people downplaying the PS3. The PS3 can handle Diablo III, but I wouldn't want it. Diablo should stay on the PC, put starcraft ghost on the console. PS3 on the other hand has already incorporated the Keyboard and mouse before, and I think you still can.
I love my PS3 and unlike all my poor friends with a 360's who have replaced there 360's atleast once and already have the "3 rings of death" again, I will never have to replace mine.
It was also nice not having to pay to play online, and the built in wireless saved me an additional $100... Oh yeah and that usb port on the back is probably being used by your wireless add on...
As for controls: put different skills on the 4 shoulder buttons and let the D-Pad switch between sets of skills. Left joystick moves, right joystick aims. You've still got 4 face buttons, select / start and the joystick-in buttons for things like the map, inventory, character sheet, zoom-toggle, etc. Getting potions out of the picture is particularly helpful for a console control scheme.
Some concession would probably have to be made for how aiming skills work, but.. really.. it's not that difficult to imagine it being pretty decent.
Well the two ports in the front are perfectly enough for 1 mouse and 1 keyboard, those are "usually" not occupied.
Just saying PoS3 downplays it? I like my little word plays, lol...
BTW I had a launch console and never had a RROD, no bs.
Diablo 3 would be on 360 for the following reasons.
1. Easier to port over. (More time working on PC version)
2. Xbox Live far superior to any other consoles online system.
Microsoft could make an update for 360 to accept compatible keyboards and mice very easily. Or someone could make a mouse/keyboard especially for the 360, wireless, and using ZERO usb ports.
I say porting to consoles would only be worth it if they could let PC gamers and Console gamers play together in same games and everything. If all of your friends had console version of Diablo 3, and you had the PC version, and you could not play together, that would SUCK.
But like I said earlier (like page 3?) I love Fable 2 already, but I will wait for PC version to play
I don't know a great deal about how the thing would work on a lot of the new consoles, I just think it would be an interesting idea. That being said, I think yes, the top priority should be to complete it on PC then they can work out the bugs for consoles if they see fit. And secondly, I think that if the consoles are to have a shot at success, they have to be able to merge with the computer players online.
Which leaves me to my next thought.
CALL OF DUTY 4 IS NOT THE BEST FIRST PERSON SHOOTER OUT THERE. If u think it is then your probably just a (graphics first!) n00b gamer or u just havent tried any other games such as CS:S or TF2 or even DoD:S.
The only way that i would say Yes! is if they would allow u to use a mouse and a keyboard to play it. If not then no. and i seriously doubt they will do that simply because all the PC fps and 3ps freaks would totally pwn n00b's that use gamepads for shooters :S.
I'd expect that if they threw it onto the console, they'd have to turn it into more of a first person game. I couldn't see you controlling the arrow with the joystick, since that would just be annoying. To see Diablo III as a first person game would actually be worth playing... from what I think.
For some reason, first person's all that came out. I meant the perspective that, lets say, Gears of War has. I think that's 3rd person, can't really recall.
When anyone creates a console game, they always have to start from scratch.
I agree with you there... a lot of complaints would probably be thrown about if the games were to be thrown onto consoles.
XBox 360 is compatible with PC games, you just have to do the illegal and mod your hard drive. I have someone that plays a few PC only FPS games.
I really dont know but if there isnt, then why port it to a console when you can just add a USB Joystick?
There's plenty out there
