Mike Morhaime showed a cinematic of Diablo 3, now we are getting a gameplay video.
The Barbarian in this video fights over 20 mobs and he dispatches them easily. You can destroy and interact with the environment -- this is physics at work here. You can access the character window similar to World of Warcraft. Weapons can be enchanted. The barbarian is now doing whirlwind to deal with powerful enemies. Some lootable chests have traps ... the example given -- the chest activated a trap where many skeletal casters spawned to attack the barbarian. Deckard cain is talking in-game now in a interesting interface for RPG.
We see now a Witch Doctor class that can summon Mongrels as pets. He can create a wall of zombies to block incoming attacks of mobs from reaching you while you annihilate them. The Witch Doctor is a ranger basicaly casting from afar. The gameplay is about to end but before they want to show us what a real fight is in multiplayer with a witch doctor, a barbarian and a rogue. Holy cow this huge beast with four legs and a huge body that takes haf the screen is fighting the three classes. The beast is named Siegebreaker assault beast. It has a lot of HP but the 3 classes are doing heavy damage to it. It dropped an amulet and gold. The creature just exploded after looting and hundreds of skeletons now fighthing onscreen. Diablo 3 logo seals the gameplay video.

PARIS, France – June 28, 2008 – Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today revealed Diablo® III, the newest entry in its critically acclaimed action role-playing-game franchise. The announcement was made during the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment® Worldwide Invitational at the Porte de Versailles Convention Centre in Paris, France. A cinematic trailer and an extended gameplay demonstration with commentary from the development team introduced the game to the thousands of players in attendance.
“We’ve wanted to expand on the epic story and gameplay elements of the Diablo universe for some time now,” stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We know that players have also been long awaiting a return to the series, so we’re very excited to be sharing this announcement with Blizzard gamers here in Paris and around the world today.”
Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both Heaven and Hell, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen. The first two characters classes -- the barbarian and the witch doctor -- were shown as part of the announcement at the event today in Paris.
Diablo III will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game’s physics-enhanced environments will be interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, will be integrated into the game’s random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Cooperative and competitive play will be available online through an upgraded version of Blizzard Entertainment’s renowned online gaming service, Battle.net®.
Blizzard Entertainment is developing Diablo III for simultaneous release on the Windows® and Macintosh® PC platforms. Further information about the game, including details on the other character classes, major new features for the single-player and multiplayer components, system requirements, pricing, and availability, will be announced as development progresses. Dont worry, these people here can't see past the name.
Its clear that it draws its artistic style (READ NOT THE SAME QUALITY OF GRAPHICS; WoW IS SEVERAL YEARS OLD) from WoW.
And you're being a ****ing WoW fanatic. You're just jealous because Diablo III is going to steal its thunder, and then you will be among the hapless void of WoW fan bois desperately awaiting WoW 2 for eight years.
The style is much different. If you compare the same species (as in a human with that human you supplied for the DIablo III example), you will find that the WoW human's muscles are completely disproportionate and impossible, while Diablo III's are plausible.
Cheers.
Thank god D3 is here/ Ignore my sig.
uh huh haha that was crazy.
Btw to clear things up just 5 characters are said to be in Diablo 3 on its official site, however, via the panel at WWI just now they confirmed that not a final number and are very optimistic to include up to 7 characters.
plus in reguards to the witch doctor, it seems as of right now the necromancer isnt planned for the initial release, but they arent counting it out (since the 2 classes are similiar) it could very well still be released (maybe an update/expansion)
We've not seen much yet, and what I see, I like.
If you don't like it, more power to you. I'm sure it'll evolved over time. But if it never suits you, hey go ahead and enjoy whatever you enjoy.
That's your logic. Get out of here, you hopeless WoW fan boi.
You are so wrong its not even funny. I hate WoW with a pashion.
Whats ironic is the person you're describing fits you perfectly. Replace WoW with Diablo 3 and whalla.
Same goes to you for being a Diablo fanatic?
Whatever, you're not worth the pixels that pass through this server.
He doesn't understand that i actually dislike WoW, which is the reason why im disapointed.
Nvm, let him live in his cave
Actually I won't be, said what I will for now. I like what I've seen so far. And there is obviously still much to see.
You sir are a moron. Just because we say the art style is similar you say we're WoW fans? I HATE THAT GAME. And I have posted that here few days ago.
People like you make me sick.
