Mike Morhaime showed a cinematic of Diablo 3, now we are getting a gameplay video.
The Barbarian in this video fights over 20 mobs and he dispatches them easily. You can destroy and interact with the environment -- this is physics at work here. You can access the character window similar to World of Warcraft. Weapons can be enchanted. The barbarian is now doing whirlwind to deal with powerful enemies. Some lootable chests have traps ... the example given -- the chest activated a trap where many skeletal casters spawned to attack the barbarian. Deckard cain is talking in-game now in a interesting interface for RPG.
We see now a Witch Doctor class that can summon Mongrels as pets. He can create a wall of zombies to block incoming attacks of mobs from reaching you while you annihilate them. The Witch Doctor is a ranger basicaly casting from afar. The gameplay is about to end but before they want to show us what a real fight is in multiplayer with a witch doctor, a barbarian and a rogue. Holy cow this huge beast with four legs and a huge body that takes haf the screen is fighting the three classes. The beast is named Siegebreaker assault beast. It has a lot of HP but the 3 classes are doing heavy damage to it. It dropped an amulet and gold. The creature just exploded after looting and hundreds of skeletons now fighthing onscreen. Diablo 3 logo seals the gameplay video.

PARIS, France – June 28, 2008 – Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today revealed Diablo® III, the newest entry in its critically acclaimed action role-playing-game franchise. The announcement was made during the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment® Worldwide Invitational at the Porte de Versailles Convention Centre in Paris, France. A cinematic trailer and an extended gameplay demonstration with commentary from the development team introduced the game to the thousands of players in attendance.
“We’ve wanted to expand on the epic story and gameplay elements of the Diablo universe for some time now,” stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We know that players have also been long awaiting a return to the series, so we’re very excited to be sharing this announcement with Blizzard gamers here in Paris and around the world today.”
Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both Heaven and Hell, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen. The first two characters classes -- the barbarian and the witch doctor -- were shown as part of the announcement at the event today in Paris.
Diablo III will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game’s physics-enhanced environments will be interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, will be integrated into the game’s random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Cooperative and competitive play will be available online through an upgraded version of Blizzard Entertainment’s renowned online gaming service, Battle.net®.
Blizzard Entertainment is developing Diablo III for simultaneous release on the Windows® and Macintosh® PC platforms. Further information about the game, including details on the other character classes, major new features for the single-player and multiplayer components, system requirements, pricing, and availability, will be announced as development progresses. Well i've tried wow and thats what it looks like to me, I don't get why fanboys gotta freak over anything that has the word WoW mixed with Diablo in it. Visuals will be enhanced anyways like I said before and this is probably still early in the works FFS.
I agree, but it's hard to see the whole belt. Did anyone else notice when you look closely, the rightmost blank icon spot was slot 8. Counting towards the left from there, the leftmost icon would be slot 3.
Perhaps they are using 1 & 2 as health/mana potions, and 3-8 are for skills?
As I said, it's hard to see the details however, waiting to get the full screen hi res version.
speaking of bad humor...
its funny how EVERYONE is being so defensive about this. hey i love diablo as much as you guys, but im not afraid to admit something i notice, just like how many others have said the same thing about it.
you people need to chill out a bit.
If you can't see similarites. You're blind.
Im looking forward to this game too, but seriously stop making out that the graphics are not WoW-esk.
Magistrate for pres.
I find the armor on the right to be much more detailed and realistic looking. The armor on that Orc looks terrible and VERY cartoonish.
No I think YOU are a moron, sir.
Dont even try to deny that the Diablo 3 models have at least 2x more poly
Of course its more detailed. WoW is how many years old?
Im saying the art and graphics style is very similar, which it is. If you don't see it, you're bllind. As im sure other people here believe but don't want their throats to be jumped down by fanatic fans.
Fair enough.
really well enter this adress http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/characters/
Still not seeing it- Diablo III has way more detail. GTFO of our forums.
They aren't going to spill the beans that fast...
np. they only showed the two so far. blizzard said they wont tell anyone what the other classes are yet.
Even the armor has similarities to some of the Orc's armors in....WoW.
honestly you are so god damn dense.
d3 looks 10x better than WoW. The detail comparison between the two is night and day. BUT THE ART STYLE IS THE SAME
jeez
+1 people don't seem to get it, which makes me laugh.
