Mike Morhaime showed a cinematic of Diablo 3, now we are getting a gameplay video.
The Barbarian in this video fights over 20 mobs and he dispatches them easily. You can destroy and interact with the environment -- this is physics at work here. You can access the character window similar to World of Warcraft. Weapons can be enchanted. The barbarian is now doing whirlwind to deal with powerful enemies. Some lootable chests have traps ... the example given -- the chest activated a trap where many skeletal casters spawned to attack the barbarian. Deckard cain is talking in-game now in a interesting interface for RPG.
We see now a Witch Doctor class that can summon Mongrels as pets. He can create a wall of zombies to block incoming attacks of mobs from reaching you while you annihilate them. The Witch Doctor is a ranger basicaly casting from afar. The gameplay is about to end but before they want to show us what a real fight is in multiplayer with a witch doctor, a barbarian and a rogue. Holy cow this huge beast with four legs and a huge body that takes haf the screen is fighting the three classes. The beast is named Siegebreaker assault beast. It has a lot of HP but the 3 classes are doing heavy damage to it. It dropped an amulet and gold. The creature just exploded after looting and hundreds of skeletons now fighthing onscreen. Diablo 3 logo seals the gameplay video.

PARIS, France – June 28, 2008 – Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today revealed Diablo® III, the newest entry in its critically acclaimed action role-playing-game franchise. The announcement was made during the 2008 Blizzard Entertainment® Worldwide Invitational at the Porte de Versailles Convention Centre in Paris, France. A cinematic trailer and an extended gameplay demonstration with commentary from the development team introduced the game to the thousands of players in attendance.
“We’ve wanted to expand on the epic story and gameplay elements of the Diablo universe for some time now,” stated Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We know that players have also been long awaiting a return to the series, so we’re very excited to be sharing this announcement with Blizzard gamers here in Paris and around the world today.”
Diablo III will pick up the story twenty years after the events of Diablo II. Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal have been defeated, but the Worldstone, which once shielded the inhabitants of the world of Sanctuary from the forces of both Heaven and Hell, has been destroyed, and evil once again stirs in Tristram. Playing as a hero from one of five distinct character classes, players will acquire powerful items, spells, and abilities as they explore new and familiar areas of Sanctuary and battle hordes of demons to safeguard the world from the horrors that have arisen. The first two characters classes -- the barbarian and the witch doctor -- were shown as part of the announcement at the event today in Paris.
Diablo III will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine to render lush indoor and outdoor areas of Sanctuary with a high level of detail and vivid special effects. The game’s physics-enhanced environments will be interactive and destructible, offering traps and obstacles that create added danger for players and monsters alike. These elements, along with a new quest system and random scripted events, will be integrated into the game’s random-level generator, giving Diablo III the ultimate combination of dynamic gameplay and replayability. Cooperative and competitive play will be available online through an upgraded version of Blizzard Entertainment’s renowned online gaming service, Battle.net®.
Blizzard Entertainment is developing Diablo III for simultaneous release on the Windows® and Macintosh® PC platforms. Further information about the game, including details on the other character classes, major new features for the single-player and multiplayer components, system requirements, pricing, and availability, will be announced as development progresses. Okay first of all, when diablo 2 was made, the lead designer was Bill Roper.
Bill Roper is no longer employed with blizzard, nor is half the team that made diablo 2.
So if you expect the art to be exactly the same just next gen and polished, then your a jackass who doesn't know anything about production quality.
The art is different. Thats plain as day. But the game play isn't. Thats the point. So get over it. Christ.
video showed 4 at once, but didn't mention a max amount.
Wow. I'd say it'll probably be released Xmas 2010?
Is it even possible for battle net to support thousands of players in one world or "server"?
This is a pretty important detail, garg, but I haven't seen any info on it yet.
Some people derive personal satisfaction and self worth from pissing on other peoples parades.
Best to just ignore them, becuase I stronly suspect there's going to be tons of them. Alot of people had alot invested in this game never being made. They pontificated endlessly about how foolish it would be and it would hurt Blizzard's sales because people would leave WoW, and how it'll suck without the original Blizz North people.
They won't be letting go of any of that easily.
I don't think they removed potions. I just think the red things are just additional things and you can still use potions if you like.
i posted a picture of a d3 screen you dumbass. plus im TALKING about d3. shut up your just being a retard.
This is me "just voicing my opinion", which is not "a bad thing":
Anyone who relates this game to WoW in any fashion is an incompetent and a piece of deep-fried monkey shit that should be thrown to the bottom of the Burning Hells and then used as the new triune demon's footstool.
ooh ooh this is the nightelf forest.
STFU and be happy the game is here.
Those are way pre-alfa graphs. JHC!
I thought that at first, but I didn't see any potions on his bar or in his inventory.
Dont even try to deny it fanboys. Its very similar art style.
Im still going to play it. But face the fact that they've based it on WoWs art.
The only thing you have brought to the table of conversation becides bad humor and homosexuality , is comparing d3 to wow. Stop being a dude muncher.
my opinion is if you are ignorant to the fact that d3 looks more like WoW than d1/d2 then your just kidding yourself.
although lots of stuff in d3 looks nice. i just wish it was darker. i HOPE other areas are the game are more like what we are used to.
