Changes to the Diablo Lore
I am merely delivering this to you, as it was delivered to me.
Hi, Avi -
All what I wrote in the Sin War was as Blizzard has decided the
official story shall now be. I agree, it differs from the original
Diablo material, but that is because they have expanded well beyond
that now, just as they did with WoW. Even at the time of Mel's book,
this was not so, but was decided shortly after. Obviously, what
happens after Inarius is turned over to Mephisto is up for conjecture.

So what, now the books are more canonical than the games, which intoduced the lore?
What are your guys' thoughts?
This is what Tyrael says after you have killed Baal -
"I am impressed, mortal. You have overcome the greatest challenge this world has ever faced and defeated the last of the Prime Evils. However, we are too late to save the Worldstone. Baal's destructive touch has corrupted it completely.
Given enough time, the Worldstone's energies will drain away and the barriers between the worlds will shatter -- the powers of Hell will flood into this...Sanctuary... and eradicate your people and everything you've labored to build.
Therefore, I must destroy the corrupted Worldstone before the powers of Hell take root. This act will change your world forever -- with consequences even i cannot foresee. However, it is the only way to ensure mankinds survival.
Go now, mortal. I have opened a portal that will lead you to safety.
May the Eternal Light shine upon you and your descendants for what you've done this day. The continued survival of mankind is your legacy! Above all else, you have earned a rest from this endless battle."
What i get from that is, the Worldstones energies will fade away(if not destroyed) and the gates to the burning hells will open to sanctuary and a flood of demons will kill all / everything.
But, will the same thing happen even after the Worldstone is destroyed? we don't know, heck even Tyrael doesn't know what the f**k will happen to Sanctuary after he destroys it.
It might be what he thought before he destroyed it, hell will flood into Sanctuary. In anycase theres alot to the Diablo Lore that we haven't played in the games.
Is this something we should look into maybe creating? I know there are committed fan communities for Diablo out there, but I would challenge anyone to find me an, at least, half-decent collection, interpretation and summary of the lore of Diablo.
As a devoted and eager community ourselves shouldn't we, at bare minimum, seek out this grail of knowledge (lest we create it ourselves)? I've always been keenly interested in the lore. I think that the lore of Diablo is something we should champion even above the raw mechanics of the game. Without the story and the narrative the overall quality of the experience suffers dramatically. Without enthusiastic authors like Richard A. Knaak and others we risk losing the essence of Diablo.
EDIT: Off-topic. Does anyone feel slighted in the least that they whored out many of the popular Diablo item names to WoW? Sorry for the change of pace here. It just crossed my mind, but it bears some correlation to the lore.

Diablo Wikia would be a great place for us to update... I've only done a few small things there myself though

Edit - This was a thread about it

It doesn't mention Inarius at all in Librarius Ex Horadrim. Maybe thats the change? But I don't see it as a change, more of an addition.
Also, for those who didn't know, Moon of the Spider is set just after the Worldstone is destroyed, and nothing major changed, more like something just doesn't feel right. They suspect that it would be much easier for angels and demons to enter Sanctuary now, but then it isn't mentioned again, so the return of Astrogha doesn't seem to actually be related to the Worldstone's destruction.
I am soo gonna help to update that Diablo Wiki.
With out a doubt I answered that the biggest problem I have is that most of the times, when I talk, it seems that no one seems to hear me, neither if its important or not, neither if it is quiet or not, neither if it is expected or not, my own friends, my own family, and even complete strangers who shouldn't have any bias against the sound of my voice or opinion or personality.
Thinking about it my self sometimes, I reached the conclusion that perhaps it is the way, or order, I present how I want to express my self that for some reason appeals to the biologically built in circuits in most of the population minds that are in charge of ignoring stuff, and thinking about such a thing is really depressing because I can't see what I can do to change my manner of speech, and it looks like I'll just go on living my life with people ignoring me, not because they want to, but because they can't help it.
I'm not crazy by the way, it was for the army.
And this is related to the subject because, I already tried to point out the changes that were made in the lore here:

FSM damn it, no one even bothered to ask who Avi is.
Getting a tad off-topic. This is just a stab in the dark but if youre talking to someone in real life and youre not making proper eyecontact then they can get confuzzled and lose interest (from personal experience)
