Blizzard Establishes "Team 3"
Gamasutra reports that Frank Pearce of Blizzard Entertainment has just confirmed that the company is working hard on another new title... and it's not World of Warcraft or Starcraft II. 40 people are working on Starcraft II and 40 people are working on this secret Team 3 project, so it's definitely another big one. According to Pearce, "Team 3 is working on something really awesome. I can’t give you any hints, but it’s totally awesome."
With Blizzcon '07 coming up this August 3-4, people have high hopes that this mystery game will be unveiled.
Hmmm, Team 3... Diablo 3... could it be? Join our discussion!
Odd. The article was named: "The BlizzCon Annoucement Leak" or something around those lines.
www.blizzplanet.com
The ideas are cool, but I remember somebody debunking its credibility.
Also, does anyone have a copy of the article over at blizzplanet saved they can post or link to? Just curious as to what it really said and why it was deemed "sensitive" material by the poster.
It is from February 2006.
This is what the site says:
"The WoW insider reports now, one learned of an anonymous postal service that the video Games live orchestra, which will play on the termination concert of the BlizzCon, received its note leaves for the show. Under these leaves, three new, previously yet unknown music pieces are found by the name of ' 'Northrend 1, 2 and 3'', which points out the presentation at the weekend." -- http://wow.gamona.de/index.php?unid=11466
They also mention Diablo 3 in the newsbreak, but it is way to choppy for me to understand... something about the siege of Harragoth and a "frozen stone."
Any way, the images on the far left and far right are definitely from Diablo, but I've never seen the picture in the middle... Is it from WoW??
Northrend is supossed to be the next WoW expansion, you can check this sites for Info: http://www.wowwiki.com/Northrend or http://www.worldofraids.com/
Medievaldragon: "The person who contacted me within less than 12 hours before the Starcraft 2 announcement, told me what Medusa meant. IGN had mentioned they saw a Medusa Demo listed in the WWI itinerary page."
"I posted the news, and this person contacted me."
"He told me Medusa was the codename of Team 1 (RTS). Although, I was partial in believing the source, 12 hours later it turned out it was indeed Starcraft 2."
"The news is exciting and to be sincere even tempting. However, I have never been the type of hyping by leaking info or illegal content extracted from the MPQ."
"I try to play by the rules."
"Blizzplanet is a member of the Blizzard Fansite Program. And I will rather behave in a good way, as we have a good long standing with Blizzard."
"On the other hand, I can never forget Blizzard has given us 100 Closed Beta keys to giveaway to fans. Should I be tempted in revealing top secret stuff for hits, and throw down the drain the opportunity of getting fans into future Closed Beta? Should I be that selfish?"
"I'm still tempted, but I think fans deserve better."
"I know the two remaining codenames -- that assuming the contact is legit."
"All I can say is Blizzard is announcing two games at BlizzCon. One is an expansion and another one is a Diablo game."
"Note I am not revealing anything that hasn't been already said before."
"1. Blizzard said a year ago they plan to ship a yearly expansion."
"2. There has been job openings specifying "Diablo"
If they are going to even comment on Team 3 any further, we will know what they are working on and therefore an announcement would have to be made.
Blizzard (hypatheticaly): "Team 3 is working on a next-gen MMO that is a continuation in one of our main title series." --Would have to be D3 (to be anything else would be an outrage!)
So, you see, any further comment about Team 3 would be like spilling the beans anyway... unless all they announced was a later date and place to announce the game. (If that was the case, then why even comment on it?)
At Blizzcon '07... It's all or nothing... either there will be no word or
Diablo 3 will have to be announced, and that's all there is to it.
