Blizzard Confirms New Product Next Month!
"It took a good day of calls and emails, but Blizzard just got back to us about the rumor floating around that Starcraft 2 will be announced next month during their World Wide Invitation in Seoul, South Korea.
According to a Korean website, StarCraft 2 is being developed in 3D with a new race and lots of changes for existing units. The site went on to say that additional details would be revealed during Blizzard's WWI on May 19th in Seoul.
When reached for comment today this was Blizzard's official response:
We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more. Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present.
So that's a yes on a StarCraft 2, eventually, and a yes to a product announcement next month. The only question now is are they one in the same. " -Brian Crecente, from Kotaku.
So what do you guys think? A lot of people still believe it's gonna be Starcraft (which would be fine too because, honestly, who wouldn't love to see that game revisited just as much as Diablo?) but after a statement like that, I'm thinking it's gonna either be an announcement for Diablo 3 or a completely new Blizzard title. If it's not a Diablo or Starcraft game, I'm putting my money on TacoCraft.
Alright, let the speculation begin! May 19th simply cannot come soon enough.

BTW, I found that the information I posted was about the BlizzCon supposed to happen the year Blizz North closed (this site http://www.rpgcodex.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=9145) My bad guys, should have looked a little closer into the info I posted. SRY.
I doubt a world wide convention will be Held in America. =) An event that is trying to attract from a worldly scale will not be sucessfull in their home land. (where other than the place the Air one of their titles on TV)
There is still no Link.. All you people did is take the most logical, obvious, realistic idea and put all your money on it.. It makes you feel comfortable to do that. But It isn't true.
Did Blizzard say it was Starctaft? No. =)
Blizzard is huge now. It really doesn't matter where they announce what... These arent the D1, Warcraft days.
My argument Isnt that its going to be Diablo. It's not even that It isn't going to be Starcraft.
Im Nutral with no facts present leading me to think other wise... I think it in all probubility will be Starcraft, But I also think It will Most likely will be Diablo, or another Series...
But thats just bull shit because, Take a guess...
No Facts
I'm sick of Warcraft completely, I want to brn all copies of every warcraft game there is, its so burnt out and so...ugh. Wehn I see a WoW box, I see a giant money sign, disgusting. Blizzard made WoW only for the money...
I just hope Diablo won't be the same, and won't meet Warcraft's fate
there are many that wouldnt agree. Especially Diablo has very little to do with the real rpgs (see Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment etc). Diablo is more of a fast, extremely fun kill'em all game with some character customization (thats why we all love it). There's no real "role playing" in it, though. And even though WoW doesnt include too much role play either (except on the RP servers maybe) its a completely different kind of game, since its multiplayer based. A singleplayer Diablo (with coop options) wouldnt compete with an MMO. Blizzard knows it, just as much as everyone else does.
You seem to think I don't think its going to be Starcraft. =)
Besides, there is no place for logic here. Not for this situation, my point is, you or nobody else has anything substancial to convince me that it is going to Starcraft. And won't unless there is a leak, or Blizzard confidentiality issue.
Only a few days out anyways
=)
But it would be smart to have rivaling games as Blizzard would get two different groups of gamers to play possibly doubling their money.
I fully agree. If they didn't release the game because of WoW's success, the expansions would not be coming out every year or so.
Still, it doesn't matter. You guys can speculate and speculate but still wont be able to come to any conclusion. We just have to wait 16 more days until we can find out for sure.
Thus they will not release a new MMO while WoW is still going strong, for the sole reason that few people have the time to invest in two MMO's, much less the will to pay for two monthly fees.
Would a D3 take players from WoW though? Not in any substantial amount, so long as D3 isn't an MMO. If people aren't required to pay a regular fee for D3, they can buy it and then play it whenever they want, thus they can mix and match with WoW simultaneously.
Secondly, people that would play D3 so much that they wouldn't have time for WoW are a small minority and wouldn't affect Blizzard's current subscribers to any large extent.
That is complete nonsense. Logic always applies to all situations.
Another one of these guys....
This is a very narrow minded view, =)
When something is in question in any case no matter what the facts are...
(Narrow Minded) The man that says everything points to this, so It's goto be that.
(Open Minded) The man that says it doesn't necessarely have to be that, it could be other things.
"You should know that"
Korea is Starcraft if you knew anything about the game
Maybe in your shoes this is about starcraft, but to your average Joe, and most population, this is about an announcement of a new title.
"You went too deep son"
Blizz-Korea
You mean what? Blizzards Korean Website formated to deliver to the Fan base of Korea?
As far as I know Blizzard does not have a subdivision in Korea, the Official Blizzard Co. Is located in LA, If there is please link me. =)
How are you so sure that WoW and Burning Crusade will be the next generation of Diablo games? ...
err... the next gen of diablo games is WoW and Burning Crusade? wtf are u on mate...
thats WARCRAFT
not DIABLO
it is also an MMO
perhaps it might be this and that, but how many rumours a bout SC2 have there been compared to D3?
but thats not the point, to say WoW is the next gen diablo... u sir need to be shot...
how about u stick with ur Warcraft 3 and TFT as thats the next gen Starcraft...
yeah right... completely different games lol
But, I've went to the so-called Blizz-Korea website and it is nothing like the blizzard.com that I go to. There is an intro video and everything. From blizzard.com I can't see Blizzard making a website with an intro video. It seems to unprofessional for Blizzard. Unless you give me proof, I will not believe that this is an official Blizzard website and not a fan-based website.
http://www.blizzard.co.kr/
As you can see it uses blizzards layout which only they are aloud to use because of copyrights. Also note the links to jobs postings. There is no questioning this is definitly an official blizzard site. O yea and the copyright at the bottom of the page gives all rights to Blizzard Entertainment. Also note that blizzard has made many sites (mostly for WoW) that have flash intros. Have a look around the WoW website and you will find quite a few.
