Blizzard Confirms New Product Next Month!
"It took a good day of calls and emails, but Blizzard just got back to us about the rumor floating around that Starcraft 2 will be announced next month during their World Wide Invitation in Seoul, South Korea.
According to a Korean website, StarCraft 2 is being developed in 3D with a new race and lots of changes for existing units. The site went on to say that additional details would be revealed during Blizzard's WWI on May 19th in Seoul.
When reached for comment today this was Blizzard's official response:
We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more. Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present.
So that's a yes on a StarCraft 2, eventually, and a yes to a product announcement next month. The only question now is are they one in the same. " -Brian Crecente, from Kotaku.
So what do you guys think? A lot of people still believe it's gonna be Starcraft (which would be fine too because, honestly, who wouldn't love to see that game revisited just as much as Diablo?) but after a statement like that, I'm thinking it's gonna either be an announcement for Diablo 3 or a completely new Blizzard title. If it's not a Diablo or Starcraft game, I'm putting my money on TacoCraft.
Alright, let the speculation begin! May 19th simply cannot come soon enough.

this doesnt make much sense to me but let me explain my thought about it.
Korea is the country in which Starcraft is a religion. Tournaments, tv shows etc. Wouldnt it be completely logical to have the next Starcraft game announced in the land in which its worshiped as a religion?
Who the hell said any thing about a MMORPG... jesus maybe blizzard has designed D3 to be the first ever FPS MMO hack/slash game. Where left clicking to bring you shield up to you face could mean the mattter of life and death.
You dont know what blizzard has for D3 jesus they could do so manyt hings...
Look at SC2 i image it being like planet side if it s MMO. With different worlds to take over and shait.
StarCraft II (80%)
StarCraft Ghost (15%)
Diablo III (5%)
goto www.diablo3.com and where does it take u? here... showing that they havent cared to buy the domain... for reason's that they probably wont continue that series considering the whole dev team went elsewhere a.k.a. Hellgate London.
goto www.starcraft2.com and where does it take you? right to blizzard...
sorry guys i think were all waiting for something that will never happen (diablo 3) not a hater cause trust me i'd much rather see d3 over starcraft 2 even though im a fan of both i just think rts games are playd out.
I just want to say that www.diablo2.com leads you to a site that isn't affiliated with Blizzard as well...
Diablo
www.blizzard.com/diablo
www.blizzard.com/diablo2
www.blizzard.com/diablo2exp
SC
www.blizzard.com/starcraft
www.blizzard.com/broodwar
WC
www.blizzard.com/war2bne
www.blizzard.com/war3
www.blizzard.com/war3x
or for more info its
Diablo II/LOD
www.battle.net/diablo2exp
Starcraft/BW
www.battle.net/scc
Warcraft III ROC/TFT
www.battle.net/war3
so for domains wouldnt it be something more along the lines of;
www.blizzard.com/diablo3
www.blizzard.com/sc2
www.battle.net/diablo3
www.battle.net/sc2
or something like that?
bu since Blizzard has purchased Starcraft2.com, and not Diablo3.com i think SCII might be the more logical of the two games, but thats not to say they wont annouce SCII on may 19th then annouce DIII at a later stage.
That's my logic, though I suppose it could be an elaborate joke to keep people guessing, but what I was pointing out was that they don't always buy the domains of games they release. Domains like www.starcraft.com and www.warcraft3.com are not owned by blizzard, so just because they own www.starcraft2.com doesn't guarantee an announcement, just makes it seem more likely.
You're right though that whatever game is announced will get an official page at either www.battle.net/ and/or www.blizzard.com/ but I'm sure they won't post a page there until AFTER the announcement.
It is noteable however that the starcraft 2 domain was bought by Blizzard and there has been no knowledge of anything of the sort for a Diablo 3.
Basically it could go either way.
However since many people here have been mentioning that there might be some announcment of another new game at E3 this is impossible. If you go to the E3 site (http://www.e3expo.com/login/login.aspx?redirect=%2fIndex.aspx) then you will notice that it is now called E3 Media and Business summit. Basically E3 is now a private meeting of developers held in private hotel rooms to discuss business tactics. A few "featured games" will be chown but that is it. E3 is no longer the big game show it was before! (which sucks by the way)
Also note that all companies that would normally go to E3 have been invited to participate in the Tokyo Game Show instead (which isn't as good as E3 was but o well).
Just thought you should all know that.

Lucrin
it has been almost 10 years without another SC game, so a new one is long overdue. 6 years without another Diablo game. i want both of these games so im willing to wait for them.
kinda what i was thinking. Blizzard seems to pick up quite a few d3 websites but not this one, what were they uh.. diablo3.net diablo3.com.au or something like that.
played the first one, never got around to the second one.
well, your reasoning is not very solid, and sometimes when you type something in in the url box, it leads you to different domain names, and I imagine something like that would be affiliated with blizzard anyway. this site was made far before, I imagine, they even had plans for diablo 3, so they wouldnt attempt to buy it anyway. and others are correct, the address would have been http://www.blizzard.com/starcraft2/
or
http://www.blizzard.com/sc2/ or http://www.blizzard.com/scII/ or soemthing along those lines- plus I bet they HAVE a page setup, they just havent added it to website directory, and I bet if you tested alot of different web urls linking to blizaard you could find it- google wont work because it will have a different title to keep it secret...
but seriously, your reasoning sucks, and I think D3 will be announced as well as starcraft. after all, WC3 and D2 came out around the same times.
AND, not "alot" of the Diablo team left- a few people joined up with others, but a majority of the team still works for blizzard, they just relocated. I'm almost certain Diablo will continue, and you are just an idiot. Blizzard would never just end diablo right here and now, especially with all the costumer anticipation, all the fan sites and whatnot- You obviously are talking out of your ass, and you obviously dont like diablo, much less any other games I imagine, so just shut the fuck up, and stop blowing words out of your ass, smartshit
i agree almost completely
Sounds interesting, any links i could read up on it?
Good post.
