Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for its second BlizzCon gaming convention. BlizzCon is a celebration of the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo franchises and the players who have helped make them so popular around the world. This year's event will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on August 3 and 4, and will feature various activities for attendees to take part in.
This would be the perfect chance to finally announce their next game, which hopefully is Diablo 3.
actually questing and pvp was completely primitive in Diablo 2.
i actually do, only about 15% of the total income from the WoW subscriptions is profit. Server maintenance, buying new servers, paying for the bug fixing and (content) patch development, 24/7 online customer support, forum moderation etc cost money and they have quite a few employees working in that. And i do agree that making a new MMO every 2 years would be a disaster. WoW is now 3 years old. If their next MMO comes out within 2-3 years it should be the timing they said they'd stop supporting WoW (on announcement they said they'd support it with expansions every year for 5-6 years). I'm not in the industry so i cant say for sure, but it looks to me that they'd have more income if they made a more "mature" MMO and got back people they lost to all of the new MMORPGs we see lately.
thats certain, yes. There already are textures of Northrend in the latest patch, and there have been Emerald Dream textures since the Scourge Invasion patch. WoW isnt in trouble yet. But after a couple years? I'm not too sure. If we started killing major lore characters now, what will we do for the next couple years?
again, good in theory. But there already are companies that keep multiple MMORPGs up at the same time and have profit. Just as NCsoft has game cards for all of their games, they could easily have packages to include them all too. And even if some people dont see it that way, many players (WoW and all MMORPGs alike) pay attention to the story. A Diablo MMO has a completely different (just as Starcraft that i wouldnt like much tho) setting and offers completely different opportunities to make the game nothing like the "other". It would definitely be hard to keep the profit, but since i'm not in the industry i'm not in a position to tell.
Anyway, its getting to theoretical. Odds say it wont be an MMO just yet. But we'll find out in time.
We cant be sure of anything. For a WoW expansion beta it would be too early (an overkill to us players if it comes out too early). For Diablo III beta it would be too early too. Its not even announced yet. But, then, why didnt they say "StarCraft II beta keys"?
Of course they might aswell play with words again. They might announce a game in BlizzCon 2007 this August, but the beta keys could aswell be StarCraft II.
They said before its announcement "We have nothing to say about StarCraft II at present." and 30 days later they announced it. With the same logic StarCraft II is an upcoming Blizzard game, is it not?
Those Basterds, I still hate them for that. XD
But I don't remember that interview with Blizzard... anyone have a link?
Ya, something like a new starcraft race and SC2 beta-key.
We're pretty much screw!

Yeah I guess there were alot of wrong interpertations of 2 projects in development, and 1 Major anouncement. lol
I hope you're joking, which I know you're not, you make me laugh so much. You truly think you're intelligent and make decent arguments against everyone except those who are actually intelligent then you simply cower.
Any normal person with a thing called common sense and a life would look at Blizzard stating they have nothing in regards to Starcraft at present would not immediately turn around the next day and call them liars and break down every word.
Also, you can't grasp the concept that it was all a joke.
Don't turn this around on me, none of it will have validity because I meant none of it, don't just tell me how unintelligent I am, it's all you ever do to myself and others. Why don't you try intelligently responding? There's really nothing to say but to admit you have a severe inferiority complex.
Don't start man, nobody wants this thread to go off topic, Were all sorry your feelings are hurt, But that comment was strictly opnionated and not an verbal attack twords you.
Don't make it so personal.
In the mean time Flagship released a gameplay trailor of Hellgate: London.. At first I thought it was your typical RTS and to be honest I really didn't dig it. But there are classes/levels/quests involved. and from what I see in this vid its going to be a sick game.
Granted... Its still not my thing

edit:
I just checked the main website for hellgatelondon and it's actualy pretty good, but i don't see my machine running this game.
Diablo 3 Announcement at Blizzcon 2007?
After its long awaited StarCraft 2 announcement last month, rumours are building that Blizzard will also be giving Diablo fans some loving at this years Blizzcon with the company suspected to be preparing reveal Diablo 3.
Drawing together bits of information such as increased hiring on the Diablo team, Starcrafttwo.com’s Medieval Dragon has done some detective work and come up with an educated guess that the convention will feature an official Diablo 3 announcement.
Most telling is an interview with fantasy author and Diablo writer Richard A. Knaak where upon being asked straight up if he was writing for Diablo 3 he replied: “I am not writing for a dead world … but a world with dead. ’nuff said!”

What do we know about Diablo III? We know we want it, but little else is set in stone. We can determine some key facts based on recent Blizzard news, and offer our suggestions for the next iteration of the hit franchise.
We hope to soon have our minds Dia-blown!
Ever since Blizzard's Northern-Californian division Blizzard North fell apart due to a combination of a conflict with Blizzard owner Vivendi and several Blizz North employees wishing to move on, Diablo fans have had their hopes shattered not once, but many a time as they wait patiently for the next title in the highly-acclaimed franchise to be announced.
A few months ago, the possibility of a third Diablo game seemed highly unlikely. Soon after the fallout between Blizz North and Vivendi, Bill Roper and his band of merry men went on to form Flagship Studios; one of the two studios that were founded as a result of the incident. This led several people to believe that Diablo III had met its untimely demise. Several Diablo fans still consider Flagship's upcoming game Hellgate: London to be a spiritual successor to Diablo 2.
However, in February 2006, Blizzard announced vacancies for the positions of Art Director and Art Leads to join "the team behind Diablo I and II" for "an unannounced PC project". While these positions could very well have been for the recently announced StarCraft II, Blizz claimed that the game had been in development since 2003. Not having an Art Director and Art Leads as late as 2006 seems like cutting it a bit too close, doesn't it?.
Couple this with Blizzard's recent confirmation that they would continue to work on both the StarCraft and Diablo franchises, and it's pretty much a given that Diablo III is in development right now. The question is, what will the game be like, and what plot could it possibly follow after the events that occur at the end of Lord of Destruction? I think it's fair to say that using the Worldstone's destruction as an excuse to resurrect Diablo would be considered extremely lame. That would be a huge cop-out on Blizzard's part, and I refuse to believe they would ever do their fans such a disservice.
Many fans have speculated that the two remaining lesser demons Azmodan (the Lord of Sin) and Belial (the Lord of Lies) will be a part of the story this time around. Considering they weren't in either of the first two games, I'd say this is quite likely.
But what of Diablo himself? Is the game even going to be called "Diablo III"? Just because it's a Diablo game doesn't necessarily mean it has to revolve around the Lord of Terror. Or is Diablo's "death" where the Lord of Lies comes in? Again, that seems like a cop-out to me, but Blizzard would probably be able to pull it off without it coming off as too lame or obvious.
Another popular theory is that Baal is still alive and that the Tyrael at the end who destroys the World Stone was actually Baal in disguise. Heck, for all you know, you could have been fighting one of his clones all the time. This would indeed open up several possibilities for the third game. It would also make sense for the third game to take place in heaven, as several rumours have already suggested.
There are several theories regarding gameplay as well. The most widely stated is that Diablo III will include mounts, just like World of WarCraft. Again, considering this feature is in WoW and in Sacred (which is a similar game), I'd say this is likely.
Beyond this, there is no information ... no rumours - absolutely nothing that could possibly help us guess what Diablo III will be like. Of late, several sites have stated that the game will be making an appearance at BlizzCon or even as early as E3 (I wouldn't bet on the latter). At this point, it's safe to say that Diablo III is definitely heading our way at some point, but I wouldn't count on a release until 2009. What does everyone else have to say on the subject?
Oh, and Cain just needs to die.
