Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. today announced plans for its second BlizzCon gaming convention. BlizzCon is a celebration of the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo franchises and the players who have helped make them so popular around the world. This year's event will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California on August 3 and 4, and will feature various activities for attendees to take part in.
This would be the perfect chance to finally announce their next game, which hopefully is Diablo 3.
I spent two weeks savouring my first playing experience of Diablo which means I got more fun out of it.
theres a consequence for too many hell players / heaven players. it would balance it self out, as he said.
but seriously, post something about the topic not about you being new. thats for the introductory threads.
dont infect another thread with that crap, there's the other one still not finished.
I agree with your point, turning Diablo into a MMO would draw a lot of custormers away from WoW ( Since i'm sure mostly were & are Diablo fans ).
But that being said, i'm sure sooner or later a new Game will problaly draw the WoW players away, even with a new Expansion..
WoW lost and looses people to Lord of the Rings Online, EverQuest 2 (and to come, Age of Conan and Warhammer Online). Another MMO would just get them back, or keep them in the company, which isnt that bad for Blizzard since people that pay monthly stay to them, no matter for which game they stay. WoW is a social phenomenon now. Its not about Diablo players that got bored over the years, or Warcraft fans. Everyone knows WoW and most have tried it at least once too.
for some people it just lost interest. I know quite a few people myself. A new game (especially a darker one) might bring people back to Blizzard or "steal" people from other games. However i dont believe they'll make such a move just yet. Diablo has a very good setting for a pvp oriented mmorpg, but i dont think its time for it. They might have it in the back of their heads, or even in development, but i do expect a Diablo III before that. (I however have nothing to support my theory as i'm not in Blizzard - its just what i think of it).
Wow Reminded me of playing house in preschool. Sorry I just couldn't play a game like that. I think their target audience was for teenage girls with that one (I always felt that way about it). Just how i see it nothing againt all you 7 million players..
So I bought Resistance =)
Even if Blizzard lost half of their total players in WOW they would still be past their projected player meximum before the game was released which logically would have been 2-3.5 million players Max. Im doubt that is a major consern.
I'm sure blizzard will make a fantastic game; albeit diablo3, world of diablo, or a brand new game.
I hear ya..
They should do what they did with the Starcraft Series... Keep the same engine theoretically and gameplay. Add a few new things, items, abilities, maybee a new race or 2. should increase top max level, make the game twice as deep as D2 if possible.
I wouldnt touch the graphics.. New graphics are very vibrant, and attractive. Older graphics, were more realistic and Dark. I mean if you can make it work than by all means, but i have yet to see it for a game as Diablo.
not exactly true. older graphics weren't necessarily realistic... at all. 2d isn't the best way of handling realistic stuff. 3D is more realisitc perspective-wise and looks wise. Older graphics are simple and fun. 3D consumes you into the game; It doesn't feel like a game, but like your actually doing the thing in real life. Or rather it is meant to be like that.
As far as realism, The new Graphics may look better, but they are in no way more realistic. Its very easy to be fooled by the atractiveness of it.
Flagship Studios (Diablo Team) created thier MMO, a WOW type game, Rated E or T i think. It has a little Darker feel than WOW if you ask me, with "new" graphics, but I still dont really like it. Im going to try it again though in the upcoming closed alpha stage.
I guess my pont is that if they used old graphics not only would i not be dissapointed, I would be relieved, unlike most. But theres no way that is going to happen.
You can always do the "SOE" method...
Warcraft or Diablo MMO at $15 a month, or get both at $21
Besides, Warcraft will always have a million or two players subscribing. Even at that rate, WOW will continue to make $$$
I agree with an earlier poster. If people are leaving WOW for a different MMO, why not leave for a BLIZZARD MMO. The best competitor IS yourself...
