No one forces you to play in ranked games
Personaly pvp specific items would be great.Something to ocupy our time until proper changes to PVM are made trough expansions

On a more serious note.
Diablo 3 is Diablo 3 .PvP tokens are very welcome,no matter if they will be used for getting PvP specific gear or not.
And about farming...Yea farming is for PvM.Tokens are for getting items for PvP.Different things,each unrelated to each other..I don't see the problem here.
You want to be best in PvM...Farm the hell out of it.
Want to rule the PvP ranks...Just win enough matches with PvM gear until you get enough tokens to be able to buy some PvP gear.
I'm sure it will be balanced to allow us to use both PvM gear and PvP gear,mixed.
