Two months ago, on May Activision and Vivendi Games/Blizzard had announced their membership cancellation from the ESA, basically pulling off E3 as well.  Suddenly, in recent hours it was announced a ActivisionBlizzard press conference would take place today in the evening.  As Gamespot, IGN and Kotaku's auto-updated blogs said, the press conference just ended with the Neversoft Band playing onstage.  It is quietly disappointing to not have seen Blizzard up there to promote Wrath of the Lich King and Starcraft 2, or at least play the Diablo III Teaser. The ActivisionBlizzard press conference has wrapped up without any Blizzard game.

11:28pm EST / 8:28pm PDT
Gotta love how Gamespot and IGN are updating the live blog every two minutes. Right now ex-Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker to play out the drums kit for Guitar Hero World Tour. I can imagine Blizzard will come to stage at some point.  ActivisionBlizzard is stealing the freaking E3 show Press and attention big time!

11:00pm EST / 8:00pm PDT
Gamespot has a reporter at E3 streaming a Live blog that auto-updates your page with new info from the floor at a restaurant near E3 where ActivisionBlizzard is holding a press conference with a massive screen.  A lot of Activision games have been showcased already. We are awaiting any news from Blizzard Entertainment games.  Specially Diablo 3 or the unannounced Next-Gen MMO. It is unknown whether the unannounced game might be revealed here however.

We will update anything new that is reported by Gamespot and other websites.  For now, if you wish to stand alert, visit the Live Gamespot E3 Watch blog. Your page will auto-reload showing new updates every few minutes.

Thus far they have shown the latest Wolverine Film game, Guitar Hero's latest game,
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion, a simultaneous James Bond game/film release, and Spiderman: Web of Shadows trailers. With ActivisionBlizzard'a merger complete last week, this being their first Press Conference, and Blizzard Entertainment being the main jewel in said merger, that means there is a great chance a Blizzard game video or press panel could roll there at the end of the press conference.

Any major announcements would be made at Blizzcon, not E3.

I'm not counting on an MMO for either Diablo or Starcraft to be announced until long after the newest installments of each franchise are completed and released to the general public.

Note: A Starcraft MMO would not work, Zerg are of one mind and have no free will.

^ when they break from the overmind they do

have you not played broodwar? one of the first things you do as the queen of blades is get them back under your control

and who said they need to be full on zerg

as I recall, zerg/toss hybrid at the end of bw, I am sure they have free will

and who is to say a celebrate isn't controlling your character? and you just think it is you doing the movement...

blizzard isn't above changing lore, remember that

I really don't see it working too well though...A Diablo MMO, would work. However, for it to exist, the ending of Diablo III would have to be inconclusive.

i wouldn't mind blizzard at E3, they could bring something worth watching there. Then again that's why we have WWI and blizzcon.

Also it's now offical that xbox 360 is going casual to try to face the wii, so sad.

Umh - None game developer company would show 4th series of one game , before release the 3rd one.
This would be a tombstone for D3 , if they show D4.
World of Diablo ( -i prefer something different anyway - like : "Diablo : Heaven sins" or "Diablo : Hell Rising" ) would be released somewhere in the end of 2010 - when D3 start to fading away.
So - here - what i think : Blizzard see fading WoW, see and opportunity in 3D FP RPG MMORPG - because there is none good at this point , and i think they will do something in this direction.
Let's only hope that is not so stuped rpg as hellgate was. :D imao ! :D

I know this is a super optimistic idea, but imagine blizzard decides to just say a few words near the end, like, "o and btw guys, Diablo 3 is already in stores now"
they would just say it as if its nothing too... lol xD I could see a revolution start over that.

anyways back down to earth here, I do wish they atleast reveal one more class, we dont want any videos, at least the class concept :)

heh doesn't seem to be very long lasting game this D3 if it already starts fading away in 1 year :P (if they release it next year) I hope at least 2-3 years before expansion if there will be any. If the game is entertaining enough and large enough it might not even need xpack, at least if the next game of this series would be some MMO.

if they are making that MMO now it most probably is not of the of the franchises... Just ask yourself. Why would they have 2 games of the same franchise out and kicking? totally pointless....

I still find it weird that Blizzard did not show any games at all - maybe they were only announcing games and Blizzard didn't have anything to announce?

from december 2008 to december 2010 - this is 2 years period - a normal time for game to start to become a little or more boring. at least an expansion will be released.

As you can see for yourself - some firms release games almost every month, so - in the near future - games concurention shall rise so , that in game industry game shall live and die not longer than 2-3 years.

but MMORPG on Diablo shall have for sure in near future.

So, according to you... Diablo III will start to fade away between 0-1 years after it's release (providing it's released in '09) ?

I don't approve 100% of the new Art Direction on D3 but I don't want Blizzard to change it for a few reasons.

1) Lore. The colours we have seen so far supposedly reflect how the world looks after the destruction of the worldstone.
2) We have seen TWO locations. Supposedly two locations that are visited early in the game. Hopefully the game won't consist of only two locations? I believe that some locations in the game will be dark and gothic, but as Blizzard has commented: You need bright colourful areas to really contrast to the dark, gory, bloody, torn-bodies-everywhere-like dungeons!
3)Bizzard does what Blizzard wants to do. Blizzard have been making a LOT of money this way!

I only find it weird that Activision even held a press conference considering that both Activision and Blizzard had dropped out of the ESA.

IMHO it doesn't really matter because I could care less about E3. It sucked ever since they made it more "efficient". So who really cares.

not very ... every my tougth is based on my theory that D3 will be release this year. , next year shall start to bore fans of waiting , and the game will follow Doom 3 - doomed release.
Because of so much waiting - usually result is dissapointing ..

i hate activision i wish they never baught over blizzard, activision dumb down all there games to T ratings leaving the majority of players us 18+ disapointed with most of the outcomes.

They also keep everything under raps alot which is also frustrating lol
