Jan 7, 2015Fungineering posted a message on Why Players Quit D3, Patch Soon?, GR 45 DH on 2.1.2What made Diablo 2 better was an open-trade system and a loot system which didn't shower you in...loot.Posted in: News
You know what kills longevity? Catering to those who demand increased loot drops in the form of legendary surplus compounded by a lack of trade. You play for a couple weeks and you're decked out in whatever overpowered combination of gear is the flavor of the patch and you move on whereas Diablo 2 took much more time and effort to achieve the same goal through farming and player interaction within a functional lobby system. Clicking on a player who had his profile set up to show what he had to trade or wants to buy or even having the ability to create specific games to be joined for a trading free-for-all was the foundation of the 'end game' experience of Diablo 2.
Now, all you do is hit a button and relish in personal loot which is vendor trash 99% of the time and does nothing but create a divide not only in the community but right in to the games themselves which you have no control over joining.
Solution: Scrap this current MMO-inspired chat system and develop a fully functional battle.net lobby akin to Diablo 2, abolish bound-on-account items entirely, and readjust the drop-rate of legendary items to accommodate a open-trade system (ie lower the drop rates). 'But that 4chan hacker guy will ruin the economy' yeah, okay, it'll have an impact to some degree and if Blizzard were more on top of their game it'd be less of an issue but, as far as I and (it seems) many others are concerned, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks in the grand scheme of things. Also, the removal of cool down abilities.
Throwing in new content regardless of how good it may be will not solve the issue that this game is build on a broken MMO-inspired foundation. RoS did a lot of things right but it was only a matter of time before the same issues began to crop up and caused players to leave. Path of Exile has provided me with much more replay-ability because Grinding Gear Games doesn't assume we're all crooked players, tons of build variations, is built around a more robust 'end game' design, constant communal events, and provide content updates on a very regular basis. -

- Letting Cain be killed off by Lea accidentally (her not being able to control her powers) was also an idea, but since Maghda was the Villain of the hour at this point in the game, the decision went in her "favor"

Oh look, more dubstep garbage that shouldnt enter my earholes, yaaaaaaay.
When I do something monotonous in-game, I go to Youtube and play the compilation of Two Steps From Hell. That'll make anything epic. -

After they nerfed the Blood Golem + Iron Maiden and Amp Damage + Corpse Explosion build I usually stayed with Bone spells strictly for PvP. I tried a Novamancer on several occasions but never really fell in love with it and never played Summoner beyond level 12 for niche PvP.
The best part was going in to the cow level, casting Bone Prison or Bone Wall and hear the hostile sound several times because it would ruin the mob density and often meant crowded portals. I really loved to stir the pot back in the day...

I'll be playing on US East. Not sure if it'll be classic or expansion though as I've always preferred classic since it puts more focus on farming god-tier rares rather than runewords and uniques.

Nice! I'll be playing when the new season starts so I'll poke one of you guys for an invite when that time comes pending any open slots.

Hey fellas!
I'm interested in the idea of being a support character for my group of closed friends but I am in a conundrum as to which offers easier accessibility, playability, and longevity.
The first point, accessibility, being in regards to the gear required in order to achieve their respective lockdown abilities to be applied 100% of the time or as close to as possible. From my understanding, a WD requires a perfect rolled mask as well as SMK in order to provide lockdown and party buffs whereas a Crusader simply needs a shield, some crafted sets and stacking CDR so maybe I answered this part of the question.
My second point and easily most subjective is playability. Does Condemn with Vacuum feel better than Piranhado? Does SWG trump AC? Is the range of Blind easier to apply and maintain than Horrify?
Lastly, is there any area where one pulls ahead of the other or do their own inherent abilities make them equally as strong in their own way throughout greater rifts?
Lots of questions but would appreciate any feedback since I am having an internal battle of comparisons. What I fall back on is that the WD has more build variations than the Crusader in the event that I want an offset since I hate Steed Charge and I'd like to try something other than a Condemn build.

I've recently hit 70 on my WD and am wondering whether or not an old build I used to use is still viable for, well, solo/party greater rifts in this case. It's a combination of spawning in Sycophants through Plague of Toad spam and Poison damage while offering multiple methods of control and escape if there is any downtime on Wall of Zombies, Jaunt, and Piranhas.
This is the build in question and I switch out Soul to Waste to Languish on Soul Harvest whenever I feel the need to and I only have the smite and poison damage gem.
It works fine in T1, but anything can I suppose, but it's nice to have all of these available to me and the end result is being unhindered by mobs or bosses while I peck away at their health.
