posted a message on Rainbow Goblins - Cosmetic Wings

I think you should get into the mindset of sometimes just running around killing elites, and maybe do some bounties. Besides, much more interesting than simply running the same location over and over again. Would make sense to chose a decent build but one that lets you just speed through, like the chicken WD, if it's still a thing.

But if doing the same run isn't an issue, I think all the ones people recommended above make sense, as they are predictable and rarely bother your mojo!

posted a message on The "new" content is not enough to get me to return.

I don't think blizzard understands what their fans want. Necro has been wanted since launch and they've never cared. Two new zones (wowee), a psuedo-remake for a nostalgia trip and to make us realize how bad outdated mechanics are, and some payed class content don't fix what's wrong with the game (terrible, shoehorned builds based on gear we get for free doing some menial tasks at the beginning of the season, content that can be steamrolled until you get to the psuedo-difficulty in grifts, and a lingering and undeniable staleness for the better part of a year).

I feel bad for the people that have been sticking around for these announcements too. That's all you're getting for the next couple years.

Lots of things have been wanted since the beginning, however this was meant, as the previous one, to be a different game, with different classes. The fact that the Barbarian was kept, should suffice! The necro was only put back in, because the work they already done for it in HotS. Otherwise, the D2 necro and D3's WH are basically the same! That's why this one is possible, because it's different while keeping the most thematic skills it had before, like Corpse Explosion.
PVP and Trading have yet to come into the game, so expecting everything now, when they are still adding content is unrealistic to say the least. Give it time, it will get better and better.

posted a message on Well, Blizzcon has let me down

They did technically do (just about) everything we asked for, in realistic terms. A Diablo remake and the Necromacer (probably the most thematic character in the series). Diablo IV was never an option, especially considering the fact that the team working on D3 was basically headless. The fact that you guys lied yourself into thinking that proves more about your state of mind before anything else.

Besides, it makes more sense to have a MMO in the Diablo Universe, another hack&slash is not an option right now, since this one is yet to be finished!

There is no big announcement for Diablo left, so ragging against bitching is irrelevant. If they had any, this would have been the time to let us know, build the hype and crash the internet!

posted a message on What will happen at Blizzcon?

That image could be for a smaller project, like a new book/graphic novel or comic-strip, however there is a strong indication (looking at all the "evidence" in the past) to believe it's a new Diablo game. Be it D1 remastered, a PVP arena style of game (considering they pretty much ignored PVP, though initially they worked intensively on it) or something mobile friendly, I think Diablo will be whored down for a while for fast money grab. I am still waiting for a Diablo movie, for which Legendary pictures has the rights (bought bundled with Warcraft back in the days).

posted a message on Diablo IV: Who is going to GamesCom?

    Quote from Gorokgo-next

Personally I still am inclined to think it's either about a new expansion (for which we have proof it exists in their plans),

It existed in their plans years ago when Jay Wilson was in charge, but plans change.
Jay Wilson wasn't in charge, he was there to manage the team for the project to see the light of day. If anything I was referring more to Chris Metzen before anyone else really, since he's in charge in terms of Story and Franchise development, which I assume at that time meant, they had important bits of the story outlined before the first expansion came out (for both of them that is). The ending of RoS is highly vague and precise at the same time. The only thing we know for sure is that this December, Diablo will be 20 years old, so something "special" is to be announced, either at Blizzcon (which makes more sense) or on the actual birth date of the series. However I still think it may have something to do with a live action movie in the Diablo Universe, it's the only thing that could make us "lose our shit" considering that games come and go (or stay)!

posted a message on Diablo IV: Who is going to GamesCom?

Something weird is happening for Diablo, for sure. If we were to take for granted that quote from the the CM guy that said, and I quote, "At next years Blizzcon, Diablo-Fans are gona lose their shit" then it makes sense for them to at least announce what's happening in the Diablo Universe. Personally I still am inclined to think it's either about a new expansion (for which we have proof it exists in their plans), a new Diablo game which will be anything BUT a ARPG, so either a MMO or a battle arena type of game (just to answer the question regarding Diablo PVP) or the upcoming Diablo movie. Not many people remember, but when Legendary Pictures bought the movie rights for Warcraft they also got the Diablo ones.

Either way, the new hirings for the Diablo team are there because those people are missing (obviously), so it's not like they could afford waiting until the new project for Diablo get underway, because they didn't had the key people to engage it in the first place. So it could be anything really considering the short period of time between the job listings and Blizzcon 2016. At best they could have ordered a new comic book series, or a short animated film, which is easier to produce and it's not done entirely by them, so a fast cash grab. Let's hope it's more complex than that!

I personally believe, strongly that is, that there are some mechanics involved that dictate to a high degree what you get and when you get it. That's why when you first start, your paragon level tends, amongst other factors, to give you items from the "starter pack", and only after you played with those for a while, you get actually build changing ones. Which is reasonable. I would recommend finding some friends to play with, at least until you are 350+ paragon, otherwise you will struggle with your upgrades.

They seem more or less the same in terms of, ahem, squishyness. However it does seem at least for now, that Wizards have more builds to choose from. If you are not so hard bent on Intel chars, than pretty much any other will do much better. I would first go and play some range classes to make my transition as smooth as possible, like Demon Hunters. But to give a decent answer we first need to know what you plan to get out of them, either you want to play as casual as possible or as efficient as possible. Because believe it or not, not all classes/builds can manage both!

posted a message on Should I stay on Expert difficulty for now?

It's always a good idea to manage well your item's stats. As long as you wear str items on intel chars and with bad stats that is, you cannot push further. By this point you should at least be well geared in rares, and by well I mean main stat + vit + all rez/armor/life % etc, and with maximum amounts of sockets for your highest gems. Otherwise you will catch the end of the seazon by having played anything but Torment. I'm not having a go, I'm just pointing out the flaw in your question. Salvage, craft and/or enchant and you are good to go.

posted a message on End game sucks!

Well actually it's all about accessibility. They don't want most of their players (which are noobs) to feel put off by the endgame content they can never experience. So when you struggle to find issues with the game, just make sure it's not the usual case of first world problems, and it's actually something that needs addressing. Why do you think it's so damn easy to gear up? Just so the rest of the players experience the joy of finding loot in a resonable time. If it takes you 10 hours to be fully geared and ready to push for Grifts, then it takes them 10 days to reach that point. They often said that most of the ideas come from the perspective of the top 1%, so trying to fit them in will destroy most of their game philosophy, therefore ruining the game. It will also be easier to make items auto-pickable, but guess what, they frown upon that because it elimiates most of the physicality they keep so saint for the games. Sure, you can find 20 legendaries in a 1 minute rift, and I bet it sucks to have to stop and pick them up individually, but for the normal player, who usually finds one legendary per lower Torment rift (or even lower), the joy of picking that item is one of the best things you can experience. You could make it so that you have to be Paragon X+ to be able to auto pick items, but then again, you get hit with the idea that they don't want the game to feel different for different players, and separate the two groups. Not to mention they may feel put off by the fact you can and they cannot. The faster you come to terms with the fact that they like and want you to play in groups, to help out the little guy and make him feel part of it, the faster you understand that most of the changes you think are mandatory, are actually not!

And, as I said many times in the past, if you have thought long and hard at it, chances are the Devs already examined that option and decided that either it's not relevant or not suitable for that stage of the game. That's why the cube took so long to appear.

posted a message on The RNG Thread!
    Quote from Jostefgo-next

Blizzard has put out there the idea that RNG (random number generator) is used to determine many factors in D3. This was simply a ploy on their part. They were hoping their fanboy base would pick up the idea and run with it. They did. There are no random events in D3.

Why would I say this? Because in the word random lies the idea that all items in the potential population have an equal likelihood of being chosen. In D3 that is never the case. With all the rift guardians available, if they were generated based on random, it would be statistically improbably to ever get the same one 4 rifts in a row. I personally have experienced many, uncountably, instances where I've gotten the same one 6, 8, even 10 rifts in a row. The same case would be true of specific legendary items from Kadala. With all the potential bracers available, 3 of the same, and no others, in the same visit to her is not probable. Yet is has happened to me over and over. NOT random.

Blizzard has coded RNG out of the game, and in fact has coded into the game through layers of tables of choices an anti-randomness. It would be honest of them to come out and deny the existance of RNG in D3, but in my 25+ years of playing Blizzard games, I have yet to see honesty as being something they put any emphasis on.

I don't know exactly how RG are chosen, but I highly doubt the system just decides on the spot. It could, and it should considering how many issues can arrive with this, depend also on the environment and monster types you had up to him. Which means that unless you have completely different layouts each rift, then you may encounter the same boss many times that day. And besides there aren't than many to begin with, the chances for you to get the same one is quite high (and also, you tend to notice that you get the same RG 3 times in a row, but you completely ignore the fact you played 30 Rifts, and this is the first time it happened, not to mention that the whole point of RNG is to bring you random values, not each value on a certain interval, which is no longer RNG! then you apply it to confirmation bias etc). Now, it's a well known fact that RNG is no longer RNG in D3, especially with the ~Smart Loot~ system in place, but it will still play a large role in your adventures. Of course, the more you play the more you get, at some point you will encounter most variations, both in terms of layouts and monster types, and in items dropped.
But yes, the game is becoming more and more predictable, and that's only because it has to!
