If I were to go to Blizzcon 08, I would most look forward to meeting online friends. I would also love to be there first hand for Diablo 3 information, especially since this is the first Diablo announcement I have been a part of (I have been playing Diablo and Diablo 2 for years but I started playing after LOD was released).

You do know that wow is dying a slow death right ? And servers can all ways be re-used

any game that is released dies a slow death, but most games don't blow up like wow did... but the servers being re-usable is a good point, i don't know exactly how this kind of stuff works but if they do make diablo 3 a MMO then by the time diablo comes out... wow will have lost a lot of subs and couldn't they use the left over servers for a new game?

    You are trolling. It's unnecessary.

They should basically make the game easier. That would allow people to improvise without thinking that they are going to fail if they put one wrong skill point somewhere, and uber items and other things would really feel uber, not like you get them just so that Hell is not too boring, lol...

I agree, easier in some aspects and harder in some. I think the idea behind runes and runewords is very good, but with cheaters, nothing happens like you want. If there weren't cheaters, then runewords really would feel uber... imagine how amazed you would be when you see a barb teleporting around (have to put it in perspective since it happens all the time now)

Also, they really should allow you to redistribute your skill and stat points, this is one of the things that i think Diablo 3 is going to adopt off of WoW, just like WoW adopted a lot of ideas from Diablo II.

posted a message on Rune addiction in D3?
Ok it's just my opinion but gems are about 100 times easier to get than runes... prime example: hellforge quest. You get like 5 gems and 1 rune from that quest, of course runes are going to be more powerful because they are far more rare. It would be nice if a perfect gem had as good of stats as a rune, but it really doesn't matter... the only time you socket gems anyways is in lower levels, then you move onto runes just like you start out with sigon set and move onto higher sets. The thing everyone is forgetting about gems (that I think Blizzard designed this way on purpose) is that a bulk of gems are required for tons of crafting. For a true crafter, gems are just as important as runes. So even though gems don't compare to a rune when you get farther into the game, they are still very useful. The thing I'm wondering about in this thread is why everyone is complaining about gems not being as good as runes but no one mentions jewels? There are some jewels that in some items such as 2/3/2 claws for assasins, beat out any high rune or perfect gem. Someone please cry about how overpowered jewels are now:D

Anyways, there is nothing wrong with the way Blizzard designed the game or drop rate... the high runes are very powerful but they are also very rare. The problem comes from cheaters, and no matter how Blizzard changes the drop rates or how powerful some items or how weak others are, there are still going to be good and bad items... and guess what? As long as there are cheaters, those rare good items are going to be more plentiful and since Diablo is a pretty old game, not to mention a FREE to play online game... of course it's going to be harder to prevent hackers and dupers.

i don't mean to be pessimistic but i think that the word [CENSORED] could be a lot of things that could refer to a lot of different games... even though hell does seem like it would fit very well in there. the problem is that even if the censored word is "hell", this magazine could be talking about any game for the PC that has anything to do with hell, even one we don't know about. If this message was in a blizzard post or something then I would pee myself but for now i'm still hopeful but we are taking it as a hint because we are the masters of disection and speculation

i'm pretty disappointed in this... it's nice that blizzard went ahead and took the site, whether they intend on doing something with it soon or not, but i don't think it was worth a mysterious countdown

Take a moment and look at diablo 2 duels, then look at duels from other games. Nothing compares! Dueling in diablo places an emphasis on agility. One thing which detracts me from rpgs is that you rarely need to master combat skill techniques. In diablo knowing how to shoot teleport and dodge incoming projectiles will predict 30% of the outcome of the battle. The rest of course is how you invest your skill points, how to effectively use this skills (taking into consideration the opponents weakness) and how you equip yourself.
And its my firm believe that this can only be replicated under the same conditions as diablo2 with a top down view.
just take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xH_yp9BVJOU&feature=related
    or this:

but the only problem is that most of the fast-paced duels that i love in diablo II, are because of the mass duping of runes which allows everyone to have an enigma.

unless they decide to go with the diablo 1 approach and have some or all of the spells learnable with any class as long as they have certain requirements.

Fissure is considered fire in that one. If you haven't noticed the firey pits that seem to burn in the holes when fissure is cast. Not to mention fissure is between skills called "Molten Boulder" and "Volcano".

yeah they deal fire damage but they still involve the earth... fissure is a crack in the earth and volcano is sticking right up out of the earth, pretty much the same feel in my opinion. not to mention that in bear form druids can already make earthquakes. i'm not saying that your spells are already in the game, i'm just saying it wouldn't really be an introduction to "earth" spells... sorry for the confusion

What I would like to see in DiabloIII would be more additions to different types of spells. An introduction to earth based techniques, such as causing earth quakes, or creating large walls of dirt/mud that can take a crap load of damage, but aren't very wide. The only two earth-like spells I can think of from the first two games are Stone Curse and Clay Golem.

Another type of spells are nature-based. Not animal summoning or wind-like spells. But rather wood spells, leaf spells or something. Kind of like the vine, and as someone had previously mentioned, a technique like a Vine Bind, which would follow the idea of a stone curse.

The last type of spells that would be cool to see would be more along weapon manipulation. Something like double throw, but rather it being two separate tosses, you use mana to create more of the weapon, like clones, and you throw like 10 at a time (level variant though) and only using up one of the actual item. I know this is starting to dwell on the idea used in the Anime called 'Naruto', but items like scrolls to contain more weapons (Kind of like the Horadric Cube), but can be used as a weapon. For example, you lay down a scroll on the ground as a trap that contains 10 of a certain kind of weapon, and when a monster comes near the trap goes off and the weapons fire in all directions hurting all enemies. Also, to follow the aerial techniques (Blizzard, Meteor and Thunderstorm), you could have one like this but of weapons. It would take up a lot of mana, but you could have a large amount of weapons falling from the sky and striking all enemies within a certain radius.

druids can summon vines, make fissures in the earth and lots more so spells like the ones you described wouldn't really be an introduction.

one thing i hope for so much is that when the game comes out, clans aren't called guilds. diablo was the first game i ever played online and when i was asked to join a "clan", i was like woah thats tight. but on other games they are called guilds :( clan sounds so much more medieval and hardcore in my opinion.

i put in between just because the whole sojs, high runes currency was so interesting to me in diablo 2, instead of everyone trying to get gold to buy whatever they want, they trade items... it's like pokemon cards:D

and srry to hear about your sin.

i kno its just game but its still (lol) a GAME! :D

yeah sucks, even though it's a game it still has sentimental value because you put time and effort into getting the items
