I guess it's fairly pointless for us to discuss how long would it take without knowing insides of it, I just wanted to give my take on it based on my experience, since you implied that adding auto-skip-cinematic functionality might take a while.
In any case, it’s has been over a year now, so I would have been enough time to implement it, but apparently it wasn’t high enough on a priority list.
It’s mindboggling to me how this even ended up in the release of the game, yet more so not being fixed for over a year. Just now they acknowledge that this is an issue. So imo they screwed up multiple times, and it seems to me that you still defend them? (In a sense of cutting them too much slack, by implying that they didn't have enough time for it)
