To be forced in this case means you have no other option. If you want the most powerful items and this is how ladders are setup, you are forced to play ladders to have the best items. Does anyone not agree the game is basically 100% about getting stronger items? If there is a logical argument against that statement please share, I am willing to listen. So the game is about getting stronger items...and the strongest items are ONLY going to drop in ladder mode...if you want the strongest items (who doesn't) how are you not forced to play ladders?

No, a blizzard employee doesn't come to my house with a gun and tell me to play ladders or else...but in the sense that we are all playing a game that is 100% about loot and ladders are where you get the best loot, you are forced...seems to be pretty clear to me. The only choice we are making is to play a loot game and do whatever we can to get the best loot as fast as possible, regardless of time spent in-game. If there is only one choice for getting the top items that is the definition of being forced...I can probably think of 10 other ways to say the same thing, but I really don't see how people can keep typing that this isn't forcing you...http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/forced definition #4 - "Required by circumstances"...

I am sorry too that if I choose not to play that mode my gear sets will suffer...

Lol...so you assume that all casual players don't care at all about gear what-so-ever...we aren't "competitive" (again...not necessarily skill but whoever plays the most typically - with a few exceptions) anyway so who cares? Again...people in this forum, casual and lifers alike obviously care about the game, care about having decent gear, and care about playing end-game and having a challenge. I guess us casual players should just walk around in-game at a leisurely pace and enjoy the beautiful environments, chat a bit with friends, and maybe while we are at it we can kill a couple mobs as long as it is a low-difficulty and non-competitive! They can't possibly be skilled players, how can they be only playing an hour at a time? The bottom line is almost every person playing this game cares mostly about 1 thing and that is loot. If you offer the best loot in only one mode, I don't see how you can say that isn't forcing you to play said mode...

So playing competitively motivates people to play and the only way to play competitively is going to be ladders but it isn't forced on us? I normally don't like to make assumptions...but it is probably safe to say that people who care enough about the game to check this site, read the forums, and create an account to comment on those forums cares at least a little about being somewhat competitive regardless of how often or long they get to play. If the rewards in ladder were only cosmetic would we even be having this conversation? I agree, the players who don't play as much won't be rewarded as much just because of RNG but there is at least a chance I too can get a wand of woh or a full set, etc. Add on top of that to add "not only are you going to generally have worse gear because you play less, you also have 0 chance to get the best and newest items unless you play ladders" - that is the issue. I realize I will never have as good of a gear set as a player who plays so much more than me, but at least there is a chance I can see a game breaking item drop. Of course I don't take it personally, it's a video game forum :) Just discussion about something we both love!

I completely agree Bagstone (as usual). I am already "behind" so to speak since I have a full-time job and a family that are obviously higher priorities for me. My playtime is limited and I simply cannot "compete" (almost makes me laugh as competing would mean comparing skill and not just who plays the most) with people playing 5, 10, 15, etc. hours a day playing 1 MAYBE 2 hours a day with sometimes days in between. Now when I do play I am going to have to completely start my toon(s) all over and play a mode I never would have played just to avoid being even more behind. Personally, not just in this game but life in general I HATE feeling forced into doing anything...Doesn't sound like they are going to reverse their thinking on it since they are already putting out posts like the front page but I agree it is very frustrating.

Yeah...I find that he seems to randomly target any mob on the screen and fixates on that mob till it is gone. The problem (in addition to the seemingly random target selection) is if the mob is too far away or the path to the mob is blocked he just stands there and does nothing.

I have gotten around 15 set pieces since launch and seriously 14 of them have been blackthornes...doesn't seem so random to me.

posted a message on Damage % to Elemental Damage Question
So I know the % damage isn't applying to elemental damage when you reforge...probably a dumb question...but does that mean it isn't applying it to ANY elemental damage? The bow on my DH profile (below) came with 8% damage and lightning damage, so is the 2484 total damage already factoring the 8% or will it be buffed after the change? Thanks in advance...sorry if this has been answered elsewhere...

I kind of like how the points rotate to each category. If we had complete freedom then, although I would like to put some points in movement speed or pickup radius it would always feel like an overall loss since I would be passing up on more damage (which, at least today, is always king).

what bothers me, what happens with accounts that have number of characters, each with paragon levels, but none of them with para100? Even in summ of plevels not 100.
also i don't understand - only levels shared? Or what you pick (which abilities\perks you pick) are separate choices for all characters? Because you know, if you have 10 characters (12 with addon) you probably dont need every spare point spent towards 1-2 stats, while you playing characters with 3 different main stats (also you probably dont need str if you play dex\int based characters same ammount of time.)

Please, please, please. Do yourself a favor and get an education :(

English most likely isn't his/her primary language so it's understandable. To answer your questions 2gutpik, it doesn't matter what paragon level they are, it all adds up across your characters. Say I have a level 50, 33, 2, and 12. When Paragon 2.0 comes out, these will combine to be 97 (50+33+2+12). Each character you have for that game mode (Normal or Hardcore) will have 97 points so you won't have to choose who gets what points. Example, I have five characters, each one will have 97 paragon points.

You are absolutely incorrect. Its not based on levels, but instead, off of experience. In reality you'd probably end up at like paragon 70.

I was using it as a simple example. No one knows what the conversion will be until Blizzard decides what it will be, and even then that is subject to change in future patches. The question that was at hand was what will happen with paragon levels and how that affects a player's characters.

Well the only thing for sure is that they certainly won't be just adding the levels together...not trying to be rude...just saying. There are several accounts that already have 10 level 100's and to max the non-core stats Blizz has stated in blue posts that will take level 800. They won't want people to be maxed right when Paragon 2.0 launches.

posted a message on What to do now with your gold?
Maybe it has been mentioned elsewhere, but anyone thing removing gold from the game is a possibility? Not sure how they would handle the mass of gold that is out there now, but gold seems semi-pointless now that the AH is being removed. Maybe just make more mats drop and they are somewhat the new currency? Just a thought...

Personally I hope they don't have any bonuses or anything like the WOW guild system. Yes you can play multiplayer in D3, but to me, it will always be a single player game; that is the best thing about it IMO, I can play by myself without a bunch of drama or immaturity. Sure, give some bonuses when you are in a group (like they are today) which makes it fun to play with a select few friends but don't make people feel even more penalized when they just want to fly solo.
