It will be ladders pretty obviously, but I'm praying they don't just put in standard ladders ala D2.
Diablo 3 is not a game about character creation, thus implementing ladders has limited value. Exclusive items are a terrible idea; why people who want to play ladder feel entitled to this is beyond me, the reward is the competition, the race, if this reward alone is not enough - then stop playing ladders. I don't see the hardcore community begging for exclusive items just because they play HC.
For me, there is a very limited way in which ladders can be implemented and actually work within D3. Josh has done a great job so far, so although I'm pessimistic, he could very well pull it off.

I pretty much agree with Jaetch and Bagstone. Wizards are in a great position, and they're super fun to play. I actually switched from my Witch Doctor over to a Wizard because I enjoyed it so much.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
The only thing I'm not too keen on is how Magic Weapon/Familiar feel pretty much mandatory to take. Skills that you just cast and forget whilst giving a major damage increase just feel bad. The familiar and magic weapon are both really cool ideas and skills, but I really don't think there should be a rune that just increases damage; I would much prefer the runes to be utility.

So it's raining legendary's? No, I get far less than on my p100 character before patch.
You haven't found anything useful? You can't have played very long, me and all of my friends have found cool interesting or better stat upgrades in 2 days.
Kinda contradict yourself saying you bought items off the AH for a few millions, yet say you never even had millions of gold. Which if the latter is true, you have a very strong opinion for a game where you haven't even touched the endgame. Not possible to play D3 endgame without earning millions of gold just from picking up gold alone.
If you don't like the game, don't play it for gods sake. I went in not expecting much, and I was blown away with how awesome it is, as are all my friends. Seems like there are just so many whining idiots expecting the game to be something that ARPG's are not.
If you're going to make a post on these forums at least make it constructive, because quite frankly you just come across as a whining little kid who just wants to scream about something, and after reading a line or two of the whiners post, it always comes out that they don't have a clue what theyre talking about.
If you don't have something positive to say, at least make it constructive; if you can't do the latter, just don't say anything at all.

Josh and the team did an amazing job. It's revived the game for me entirely!Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Had a great night yesterday, farming in a full party, every time someone got a legend we all "Ohhhhhhh"'d. Was great fun, and I can't see any negatives at all. The new champ pack affix's are hilarious fun as well, especially love the poison checker affix!

Staying WD. The other classes don't have enough frogs or zombies for my liking.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

Well I hope you're right, would be a kinda nice thing for them to do, you know, giving players something cool just for pre-ordering. I'm a little sceptical though, as giving a reward for only pre-ordering even the standard edition isn't something I've heard them do before, although I may be wrong. Also seems a little strange talking about an in-game reward for Heroes of the Storm when that game isn't set for release any time soon at all; I mean I'd be surprised if it came out before 2015.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Got a feeling the wings will come with the CE of either the next WoW expansion, or Starcraft LotV. I'm leaning towards the wings coming with WoW, as it'd be an easy way to encourage people on the fence about buying WoD to take the plunge and get it.

I agree with Bagstone.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Plus, the main point of the game is to farm loot; if RoS had a system in place which just allowed someone with BiS gear to go to the enchanter and upgrade these items to be BiS at level 70, then that would be an awful thing. Okay, I played through act 5, went to the enchanter, and now I'm done. What a long, fun and interesting journey that would be.
Item resets need to happen, especially in loot based games.

So, everywhere I look I see people discussing ladders. I just wanted to start a thread to see what people want from ladders, how they would feel they could be best implemented, what types of ladders people want, or if they even want them at all.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Most say something along the lines of ;"Path of Exile has ladders, so Diablo 3 should." But, all I can think of is that PoE is an entirely different game to Diablo. PoE has a huge focus on making unique characters, levelling them and trying out the new builds. PoE's focus on unique character creation is obvious, and to many people that's the main point of the game, as PoE also struggles with endgame. So these ladders fit with the game, reinforcing the re-rolling of characters. No two characters are the same, and you cannot completely respec.
Which brings me to my point. What could make remaking character's in Diablo appealing, after all, every character is the same, has access to all the same abilities and have identical stat points. What would make re-rolling, a new fun and interesting prospect?
The reason I'm asking is because I think Blizzard are looking for a new way to implement ladders. Something that would fit with Diablo's system. And maybe just yelling "Ladders!" all the time isn't quite effective enough. So what ideas do you have?
Ill start with just a couple of ideas.
Dungeon Master Ladder: An endless dungeon that gets harder after (fully) clearing each floor level. There would be a ladder, that displays what floor you managed to get to, with the top 100 (for example) being listed on battle net. You would be able to view this ladder, both in-game and via battle net. There would be a tiered rewards system that grants vanity items for success.
Hardcore Classic: A race to the highest Paragon level. Ladders could vary from 1 week sprints to 2 month marathons. I feel classic ladders like this would fit hardcore better, as there is a sense of danger with rushing.
What types (if any) of ladders would you like to see the most, and why do you think it would fit with Diablo 3's game design.

I've always been a huge fan of the franchise, and with the way RoS is looking now, I have no desire to buy the game. The social aspect of battle net OP mentioned is WAY more important than Blizzard realises. It's affected SC2 for the worse, yet no changes have been announced regarding battle net. I always think of this when battlenet 2.0 is discussed: http://imgur.com/jEzkTPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion
There's been so many good posts with awesome idea's about core gameplay/loot/general game improvement/endgame that I'm not going to say what they could do to make the game better because it's already been said by many of the forum members here. Many times. Over and over. Well, at least we tried to help.
I seriously doubt any more big changes will be made to RoS as it releases shortly. I just can't see how they end up with a game like this, when they could have taken every good aspect of Diablo 2 and made the best arpg ever. D2 had so many awesome things, why on earth would they ignore all the best parts of it? Whhhyyyy?

Nice work, well done!Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
All your ideas seem great, as well as fitting, and would surely have a positive effect on the game. I'd love for there to be more cosmetic items, whether just visual (like the bleeding feet), or skill based. Each to there own, but I'm a sucker for chasing cosmetic items, such as the Murlocket, and the wings you get from Collectors edition; I just wish there were more (I'm thinking items purely for transmog, with cool looks but no stats, tabards, non-combat pets, unlockable character customization - such as hair colors, tattoos and awesome visual effects for completing sets - such as the Necro vampire set from D2). I'd like to see these types of things as rewards for trials/ranks/competing etc.
I just really hope Blizzard take their time, and really try to make the expansion as good as they can. I have this bad feeling that they're going to release the game too early in order to hit a deadline, and we're not going to see anything else other than what's currently in the alpha.
If they take their time, and try to add in as much endgame as they can, this game will be huge. I just want it to be a worthy successor to the Diablo franchise, and give fans what they really want. I mean, it's not as if the fans haven't given them any ideas is it.
Bravo on the effort DamienJohn.
