Sentry damage is affected by attack speed, average damage, dexterity and any %bonus on items like inna's belt, zuni boots, SOJs and tal ammys. It'll also be boosted by steady aim and marked for death, I prefer valley of death because it's a place and forget rune, and works great for mobs. Sentries also benefit from the 15% additional damage from Archery if using a bow, but because they don't crit, xbows and 2h xbows are kinda useless.Posted in: Demon Hunter: The Dreadlands
The Chain of Torment rune will proc lifesteal, knockback and any cold effects from an SOJ. But because you gotta stay close to the sentry (somewhere within 3/4 screen length), you'll need high eHP to take a few hits.
I find ballistics rather useless because the rockets are only 30% damage if i remember right. so 30% x 1.5 = 45% damage, not worth wasting a passive slot. My friend in that video uses steady aim, but he is a dps maximised build whereas I prefer a more balanced one for survivability. His sentries do about 150~180 per shot while mine do 100~150 per shot.
And since sentries can't crit, I don't have any crit chance or crit damage on my gear. Everything is designed to maximise base weapon damage and attack speed.

I have a similar build that I've been using for a while though I alternate between spike traps and chakram. Sometimes I swap sentry for Impale - awareness. I've not tried mp10, mostly 4~6.Posted in: Demon Hunter: The Dreadlands
I use this shield, the shielding affix is amazing
Discipline is really not a problem because cluster grenades + nightstalker = unlimited disc.
Custom engineering is great too because caltroops and sentries can last longer thus dealing more damage. You'll get to deploy all 3 sentries during boss battles anyway.
I have a separate build using a windforce and sentries as the main damage dealer. 150k paper dps but no problems at all in mp10. Sentries are amazing. This build works especially well in ubers.

Could anyone introduce any 3rd party programs that could bind mouse L/R clicks to keyboard?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I already use the spacebar for move and have all my active skills on the KB for my DH. I recently started a Wiz and my main problem now is that when in Archon mode, both attacks are mouse only. I can't hold the clicks down for long as it hurts my wrist. Even when not in Archon mode, there really aren't many skills available on the L click.
I tried autohotkey but it doesn't work on a mac.

The echoing blast traps are great because they detonate 3 times, they can also actually snapshot shadow power, so if you plant while SP is active, you'll get HP back even after SP has worn off. Of course, the problem is that mobs move, hence caltroops - torturous ground.Posted in: Demon Hunter: The Dreadlands
This is my main build - http://d3up.com/b/776654/sena
I'm more of a hungering arrow / loaded for bear player though I'll still switch to traps when the situation requires it.

Tips on fun and effective low MP builds for Demonhunter? And is there any really effective MP10 Build?posted a message onPosted in: Demon Hunter: The DreadlandsQuote from Mackie
That is a rather nice windforce build, what speed can you do mp10 with this? I feel i must test it
I'm not sure how you would define speed, the only trouble I have is with reflect mobs since I'm not using shadow power. I'm fine with other elite affixes. I was carrying a few mortally geared friends through act 1 and 3 and we did fine. Though I'm mostly on mp7 or mp8.
No problems with ubers too, as in the video, I'll lure siege beast away and keep running around in a large circle usually on the top left end of the map while my team mates kill the wizard on the other end.
In the video I was geared more for survivability so my turrets were doing 100k per shot on average, usually they're 120~150k, at 3 shots per second and 3 turrets, that would be JUST crossing the 1mil dps boundary. It also depends on the mix of skills, sometimes I use bola - thunder ball or entangling - bounty hunter/chain gang for primary and cluster arrow - loaded for bear on secondary.
It's definitely a fun build that can be assembled relatively cheaply compared to the typical calamity/manticore builds.

Just because you can do MP10, doesn't mean you can do it efficiently. I've played all classes and general view is correct DH's can not farm higher MPs as efficiently as other classes for the same amount of gold. Anything below 300k for a DH is not efficient on MP10.
Well the thing is, diablo 3 is a game, not a job. ROI and efficiency should be the last words people think about when playing. As long my friends and I are having fun, who is anyone to tell us how to play?
