posted a message on I wish D3 had more active player base on HC through seasons! (EU)

I have 2 accounts, one is softcore and one is hardcore. I truly love the HC challenge, and my sometimes spotty internet makes it even more challenging. Unfortunately this is an old poorly designed game, both modes are well short of where they could be player wise if Blizz would have done this game justice and did things right. I havent dusted off my HC account yet for season 19, that comes after I burn out on the EZ Mode account. I often find I end up going it alone, even crickets in the PL communities when I need one after an untimely death or even my initial push into HC seasons. This is the life of an HC player. As for clans, Im in a small one that consists of me, myself (both accounts) and my wife who depending on how she feels either plays non stop or not at all so I cannot help you clan wise

posted a message on Botters: Get rekt

With D4 being light years away Im not sure that would be their motive. What I do know, they cannot scan your machine while playing, its an invasion of privacy and illegal, they can only look at D3, and if current popular bots dont inject or modify anything then they cannot detect them, which leaves them to methods such as detecting overall playtime in a given season and say playing for 24 hours straight. Even judging playtime is a slippery slope, back in the day Ive been known to go on 24 hour benders and logging 30 or more hours in any given weekend.

That leaves them down to watching individual suspected botters play with a live person and that person being 100% sure that the player being watched is a bot.

How much time and resources they are willing to spend cleaning up a dying game in maintenance mode is anybody's guess, but if they do suspend ALL botters and HUD users the landscape is going to be more barren than it is now. With shareholders to answer to, wiping out a large portion of your player base in a game that doesnt create revenue might not be the smartest move to make financially, its all about the $$$, and players = $$$

There are financial ramifications to banning all those accounts, and surely thats effecting their ultimate decision as they decide what to do (if they even can definitely detect bots).

Ill add as a casual player botting doesnt really bother me, there is no economy to ruin, and the one time I did play hard and made and finished the season on the leader boards it didnt bother me that I could have been higher if it werent for bots, it kind of impressed me a little that I made it despite the bots.

This game is garbage for a lot of reasons, but bots arent one of them, and eliminating all those accounts wont save it or make it better, just shuffle the leaderboards. If you truly care about making the boards then bots are a big deal to you, but your personal best wont change, and thats pretty much all I try to beat whether its on the boards or not

This game could use a lot of things but this one irks me the most personally.

Get rid of the set dungeon requirements for the seasonal journey

posted a message on LoD Question

While Im hardly a leader board pusher, I do look at them a lot to see what the most successful builds are for the classes Im playing and noticed a few occasions where somebody is wearing a primal set piece as part of their build. So the question is, is there an unstated damage increase to primals that would warrant using for example the Zuni Mojo as opposed to using an ancient one with actual usable legacies? On quite a few occasions and different classes I see players using primals that are either from a set or something like Tyreal's that offer no usable legacies other than the perfect primal stats.

    TIA

posted a message on How popular is season 18? A naive data analysis attempt.

I havent played the last few seasons (Last played very end of 2018), and this season is the first Ive played in a long while playing regular. Due to life getting in the way, I could not start the season when it launched (8 pm EST) and had a very early start to the day on the following Saturday. Although I didnt play, I did check the leader boards at 4 am which is 8 hours after the season started and was surprised to see all 1k positions occupied and the leader at GR 85 and the bottom of the boards 20 GR (This is monk class). Im not sure if this is standard as I play HC mostly, but with my own internet becoming somewhat sketchy I started regular.

Is this pretty standard for softcore so early after launch? To me this seems to be a somewhat "healthy" population, but Ill admit I have nothing to compare it to but was surprised as hell to see #1 so high and even so many so high at the bottom just 8 hours after launch. I only looked at Monk, but I'd guess the other classes had similar results

posted a message on [S18 SSF] Join the Season 18 Solo Self-Found League!

Dont think a clan membership is required. I did it the season it debuted and was clanless. I was actually doing quite well (Monk HC) when I accidentally used that character to do power levels (I have 2 accounts) and ended my one and only attempt at SSF

posted a message on Is LoN or LoD the new future?

Since playing pretty regularly from launch up until the end of 2018 and never missing a season I have since taken off up until now as I anxiously await the start of season 18.

Ive been glancing at the leader boards and playing my old now non season characters as I try and decide which class/build I want to work towards when I noticed just about every position on the leaderboards is now a non set build (Except Crusaders). I personally have no issue learning and adapting to non set builds but I am curious as to if this is the "future" and sets are just a step towards this new style.

If so Im wondering why they are putting effort into the new sets if the game is now headed towards these builds. Obviously nobody can see into the minds of those working at Blizzard, but have we officially seen the death of sets as the best builds for most classes or will sets see some improvements and become viable again?

This is truly well thought out and detailed. Although I will probably never attempt this (I play mostly solo or with one other friend) Ive downloaded it and will give it a thorough reading as I await S13

posted a message on Season 13 leader boards

My comment was more directed at the possible impact of leader boards if it was true, and there was at least one thread on the official boards that about it that was locked due to toxic comments.

Personally I couldn't care less if it's true or not

Kind of curious as to what the leaderboards will reflect this season since rumor has it Blizz has at least temporarily defeated some hacks and bots with this latest patch.

Rumor has it? What does that mean? Have any kind of links or evidence aside from another player stating an opinion? And I'm not trashing you. I am genuinely excited about the prospect. I despise cheaters, botters, etc that make things totally unfair for the rest of us. Hell, don't even get me started about Numlock because folks, there's 6 skills in the game. Seriously. 6. You can't force yourself to manage the cooldowns?
Thats why its called a RUMOR, I have no evidence or links, just means its a rumor

I dont come close, and Ill admit I really dont try to make them, but Im curious to know how much of an impact this may bring to Diablo for the time being, and wonder if my efforts would crack a clean leaderboard. I hit 90 on my Monk just before the season ended, but I did not even play the game for more than half of season 12.

I wonder how low the bottom threshold of the boards will be at the end of the season, or even the top.
