The build is now final. I found that Exalted Soul passive was suited for my needs as a 3rd passive. Edit the build and added a few more details to Exploding Palm.
I will be adding a video to the post later this week and I will also implement the farming routes I do.

At the moment I need the LoH myself, but if you do not, RR will be a better choise when it comes to damage output.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary

Since PTR I have been working on this build to fit my needs best possible. Like all builds, this will have pros and cons but in the end, I felt this was providing my needs best possible and I found it to be the best balanced build in terms of movement speed, white monster and elite moster killing.

Crippling Wave - Rising Tide
I found CW to be one of the best spirit generators, both in terms of damage and spirit generation. I was using Deadly Reach with Foreseight and found it stronger in terms of damage, but due to my low attack speed, I was generating spirit quite slow and went with CW - RT instead. Deadly Reach - Strike from Beyond could server the same purpose plus it adds a longer range, but overall I found CW to suit me better because of the wider range and the fact that my belt adds 10% damage to it.
Dashing Strike - Way of the Falling Star
The 20% movement speed is a core part of my build. Some would prefer Quicksilver, but due to the fact that I try to keep 1 charge of Dashing Strike on cooldown constantly, Quicksilver servers me no purpose. Dashing Strike is perfect for movements speed (you can also dash through walls) and dashing in and out of combat if monsters have for example Frozen affix.
Mantra of Conviction - Annihilation The best mantra when it comes to damage. After further testing I reached the conclusion that Annihilation gave me more speed than Overawe. Overawe is still the best go to when you are doing boss fights (I like to do Keep runs and end with Azmodan).
Lashing Tail Kick - Scorpion Sting
This is one of the core abilities in this build. It deals tons of damage, has 85% chance to stun enemies for 1.5 seconds and is really good for killing elite monsters. Due to this build focusing on lightning damage, the damage is greatly improved by the items, which I will go over later. With my gear I have seen crits arond 2.6m but normally around the 1.8-2m crits.
Exploding Palm - The Flesh is Weak
I found that this yelled the best clear speed. I was testing Strong Spirit rune and even though it gave me more spirit and slightly faster white monster kill speed due to the extra spirit gained and thus the ability to spam Lashing Tail Kick more often, elites just wasn't dying fast enough. If you dislike EP or you are tired of monsters running away, this skill can be swapped out with Cyclone Strike - Implosion. This will help you kill slightly more white monsters, eliminate annoying monsters that run away, but it will cost you elite killing speed.
Sweeping Wind - Cyclone
This is also a core skill to this build. As of 2.0.1 the everything now deals lightning damage with Cyclone rune, making the skill from all lightning modifiers. This is yet again why some items are really good for this build as I will be going over in the gear section.
Seize the Initiative
For me this is a must. Provides a lot of toughness.
This passive is core for the build. The extra 10% movement speed means everything to this build.
I finally found the passive I was looking for to work best with this build. Exalted Soul has a gear synergy with this build, especially when you fight elite monster. Having an almost full 250 pool of spirit give you a high spamable burst that just annihilates your enemy.
There are other options if you want to be more defensive, and this is probably the passive I wouldd swap out of the 3 if I had to.
I put 2 points in movement speed to max out the 25% and the rest I split between dextarity and vitality depending on what I feel is needed.
Here I go for what I feel is needed. At the moment I am full attack speed, but still working on what I benefit the most from. I try to balance crit and crit damage to a 1/10 ratio best possible though.
All out Resistance. This gives you the best thoughness and I currently have low resistance so this will benefit me the most.
Life on Hit. My LoH is really low so this is currently what I am going for. When I reach an amount I feel comfortable with, I will be going for Area Damage.
3. Item Info
First off, this is a build focused around lightning and for that, you want as much % to lightning modifier as possible.
Won Khim Lau is a great weapon to server this purpose. I would suggest having at least that for this build.
As of 2.0.1, you can get modifiers on other gear aswell. Crafting bracers would be a nice place to start, making them into pure damage slot, having % to lightning, Dex, vit and crit on them.
Warzechain Armguards is a great item. It always rolls a main stat, always crit, always pickup radius (which is always nice to have) AND it rolls 2 more affixes which can be lightning damage and vit! That is not all! Every times you destroy a wreckable object, you gain a burst of speed. I am not sure of the % speed, but it feels close to 50-75% for rougly 3 seconds. This is exactly what you want if you are going for a speed build. But keep in mind, depeding on where you farm this item might not be as usable as when you run around in Act III Keeps, where there is wreckables everywhere!
Another worthy metion is Thunderfury. I haven't had the chance to test the weapon yet myself, but it will scale very well with this build.
4. Pros & Cons
- High burst damage
- Insane movement speed
- Fast killing speed of both white and elite monsters
- High chance of stun
- The ability to escape tight situations
- High spirit generation
- Great synergy
- Annihilates melee monsters
- Requires specific gear
- Short range on burst
- Running/fleeing monsters can be annoying, especially with some affixes
- Hard to master
- Ramp up time
If I make any improvements or changes to the build, I will update this thread.
If you have any questions, suggestions or just like the build, please leave a comment.
