Has anybody bagged the Dataminer ghost recently? If so where did you find him? I have run a couple hundred times through the "False" defiled crypts and come up empty and am starting to worry about Einstein's theory of insanity here.

Now that I am at way more than a couple hundred runs and still coming up empty I just want to be done with Dataminer. If you have him up in a game, message me at Striker#1683 and I'll give you 5,000,000 gold so that I can kill him.

For your confidence, It appeared to me from a non-event-fake-crypt just 4 days ago.

Do you have to have a certain quest active? I usually just start with the Return to New Tristram quest and work through multiple unique farming grounds. This doesn't seem to be a problem for anything other than Dataminer. Just making sure I am doing it right.

I do still believe that GF is the wrong way to go tho, its gonna take a HELL of a lot of piles of gold to make up for a 1m item.

I do Alk runs with my Monk picking up all gold piles. I consistently average a gold farming rate of 650,000 gold / hour. If you pick up the gold, open the chests and turn over the bodies it is quite easy to build up a multi-million gold war chest. It gets even better if you strap on GF & pickup radius items.

Granted, stopping to pick up what drops is a huge killer to XP farming efficiency but what's the rush? When you get to Paragon 100 most folks stop playing or start leveling another character anyway.

In case my previous post wasn't clear, based on staticstics there are no inflection points for legendaries. The increased drop rate is linear with increasing MF.

Nope - wasn't quite clear. Have you read section 6.3 of the "Magic Find and its efficiency: A statistical insight" post on this site? The chart there does not look linear to me. It looks like increased MF increases your chances of finding a legendary exponentially.

I am going to zero in on the basic question of what extra magic find gives you. Based on the MF research project we know that extra MF is going to give you a better chance of getting a better quality item out of the each "drop chest" that you get to open after you kill a bad guy. We also know that there is an inflection point around 250 MF where you should routinely be getting 3 Rares for every elite group killed.

Has anybody ran into any research about whether there is an inflection point where Legendaries become more common? If this is possible I would assume that you would need a lot of item or paragon based magic find + high MP MF bonuses to reach this inflection point. And that would be a good argument for running at higher MP even though the pure XP efficiency of MP0 is clear to most.

Stated a different way, if you are looking to maximize your legendary efficiency it might be that higher monster power is the way to go.

posted a message on Skorn vs Duel Wield
I dropped a fairly decent Skorn about 2 months ago. I was a big DW proponent so it took me a while to switch over. The extra DPS finally sucked me in however.

I found that I really needed to re-gear and re-skill my Monk to tailor her to the weapon. The loss of Spirit generation was a huge problem at first but now I am farming at experience/hour rates that are much higher than ever before.

One thing that has not been mentioned is that many offensive skills are keyed to weapon damage. A well rolled Skorn will absolutely improve damage output from these skills vs dual wield. For example, my seven sided strike routinely lands single critical hits over 1.3 million dmg and always pours 6 million total damage into the boss I am fighting.
