All this assumes you're interested in maxing xp/hr gain without regard for drops. Personally I'd think you want a strategy that is a nice middle ground, so that you're making good money even if it is slightly slower.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

You'd see much better results with this build if you switched to a Skorn, and swapped out the berserker rage passive for weapon master. Both rend and MA work off mh weapon DMg, and crit rend ticks with Skorn are just silly.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep

A small misunderstanding here, regarding reflect damage and health link.
It is not that you are getting 3 times as much damage reflected, but that you are only getting a third back from life steal. small difference i am sure, but noteworthy nonetheless.
It makes a huge difference to me. For a long time now, i was trying to figure out why Health Link was giving me troubles. First i thought it's in combination with RD, then i noticed Electrified + Health Link was troublesome too, but in the end i figured out its Health Link alone. I just didn't think of what you said. I am relieved now that i know, it was really bugging me.
About plagued - suddenly Andariel's makes more sense. Or just a single 50+ poison resist roll on shoulder/pants ;)
Against RD you need physical resist.
Pretty sure plagued is physical resist too.

I'm looking for xp/hr tracker either as a program or online (preferable); if a program, it needs to be on macs. All google searches seem to turn up dps calcs, but not xp ones.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Any ideas community?

Been looking for a decent guide that can be adapted to hardcore playstyle. I'm looking to use a HotA build for higher mps, but want to be very sure about the best way to go about it since there's a lot at stake! So can anyone offer advice on build/gearing, or link to a guide in which that info can be found?Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep

Thought I'd post here to get fellow monks' feedback, and anyone else with useful advice.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I play HC (only) and finally have a few infernal machines. Given my monk's gear and EHP, and assuming I do ubers with similarly geared people, what mp lvl should I be aiming for? I am particularly worried about survivability, since I haven't experienced these fights before and so don't know what to expect in terms of DMg incoming at various mp levels. Any ideas on how best to approach it?

Two questions:Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
1) Is this build hc-viable in terms of survivability? I'd never let my hp get that low (50k+), but is it solid enough to avoid death if played with a little less recklessness?
2) How bad is rubber-banding with this? It killed my p44 ww barb and I'm not keen to repeat the mistake.

Personally, I'd lose charge and put marauder's rage in there instead. I ran that up to paragon 35 or so on hc. The question then becomes, when do you change from bloodlust to ravage on rend? Ravage lets you clear a lot faster, and later on with better gear you can swap out WOTB for sprint(marathon) for speed clears. The problem half the time is the shitty rend animation ends up making you miss quite a bit and waste tons of rage trying to tag mobs that are running, which ravage is great for.Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
I ended up going with ravage because, with decent LoH, you get full return from LoH on the initial application of rend, and most mobs died well before rend could run its full course, meaning I'd rather hit more mobs for the LoH (and damage if they then run away) than to get the paltry % of rend's damage back as life (which was never much anyway considering they'd die to quickly thanks to revenge).
Also let me say that one change I made fairly late (before switching to WW) but that made things a million times easier (for Alkaizer runs at least) was switching to cleave with broad sweep. It almost sounds redundant, but honestly the survivability from the extra LoH (hitting multiple targets) combined with the ability to clear out lots of crap around you while rend is ticking is brilliant. It's almost enough AE dmg that you could drop rend for a single target ability like HotA, though I never did.
I will say that these changes--specially, losing a short-cd get out of trouble ability like charge or leap--required a different mind set, and takes some getting used to. You can't count on leaping out of frozen/waller, so you need to save WotB for the times you're otherwise going to get fucked by cc. And it WotB is down, play it very safe. The added damage from battle rage makes killing elites much faster, though.
TLDR: drop charge for rend, replace frenzy with cleave, add marauder's rage.

I've been running a standard rend/revenge 1h/shield build, but its not particularly efficient with my 50k dps, so I'm wondering what others have had success with. I'm wary of ww,since, being unfamiliar with it, I'm worried that a mistake could prove fatal. What about, say, a 2H furious charge build? Greatly appreciate any help!Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
