Well, this popped up a while ago on Reddit, and I've waited for a long time but no one cared to re-do the chart. And since there are now approximately 23 threads per minute asking those questions, I thought I'd just give it a go. So here's the somewhat updated difficulty overview:

Disclaimer: Many of the values are guesstimates - solid guesstimates based on lots of work, but not exact science. In GR key drop rate and some T11-T13 data, like DP drop rate, could always benefit from more data.

I don't think anyone is arguing that it's hard, it's just very tedious, time consuming, and most of all, not fun. In fact, I'd prefer if it were harder and they payoff was better. I really like the idea of having a fixed level grift for each of the ubers culminating in a guaranteed piece.

The whole process has become terrible because it's at T6. Literally the only way to make your hellfire experience faster is to find someway to increase your movement speed. Fun? What is this word? Ubers used to be fun when they were challenging.

I love softcore Diablo, don't get me wrong. If you look at my profile you'll see that's where I spend the vast majority of my time and it's for pretty much the same reasons as everyone else here has listed (I love facerolling mp10 with a group, etc) but Hard Core is really where the longevity of this game is for me. There really is nothing like the rush you get when you're sitting back, relaxing in your chair, farming through a map when all of the sudden an elite group comes up with some interesting affix combinations, and then, oh crap, there's another group of elites and then all the sudden you're up out of your chair, face close to the screen, adrenaline pumping, because, oh shit, you're about to die if you make a false move. I *Strongly* encourage you to just try it for a while and see if it doesn't just get you excited again about playing diablo. It really is a unique aspect of video gaming where these days everything has gotten so easy and it's all just about keeping you playing longer. The concept of bam, everything not in your stash is permanently wiped really makes it interesting.
TWO NOTES:
Don't tell me about your network connectivity issues. Every single person I've talked to has tried to get to play hc throws that excuse at me and you know how many friends I know have lost HC characters to lag? 0. You know what you do when your connection gets bad? Farm an area you won't die in or go play SC until your connection gets better.
You will die. You will. I've seen guys at 100k HP (Real HP, not EHP) 900 RA, 8k armor die on MP2, it just happens. Just like anything else, don't put all your eggs in one basket and be prepared. Don't get mad about it, just move on and make another character. I have two tabs in my stash devoted to nothing but leveling new characters and it makes it real easy. Every 2 levels or so, I just run to the stash and grab the next item in line and my characters are always face rolling through 0-60.

If you aren't going to answer one or all of these questions, please go to another thread!
- Would you like access to a separate auction house?
- Would you like to include player trading via the trade window?
- How long would you like the resets to be?
- How many character slots should we enable?
- Should the characters take up existing slots you currently have?

I'm having a blast playing with my 5 year old tho. I died about halfway through the butcher one time and she had to finish him by herself and she was so scared about the "big bad guy"... so priceless, and she beat him!!
