Supernova Elite on pokerstars is the toughest grind ive ever done. It felt like grinding paragon 100 x 15 in 1 year, with the possibility of losing thousands of dollars.

Just had a streak of awesome drops! had a prowler with almost perfect rolls and it should go for a few hundred M as well as some other very lucky drops now that 1.05 is out.
Just wondering what gear one would acquire if the budget was huge. ie Ideal set items, etc.
i like: 4 piece inna's (helm, chest, belt, pants), 2 piece nats (ring, boots), vile ward, echoing fury and an awesome won kim lau (if you like 1h) or a skorn (2h).
those are all debatable and my opinion, but mostly what i use. GL!

First off, I think your monk is pretty good.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
Turdragin said something about more lifegain and i agree that is useful, especially in a few hours when the patch is applied and you want to attempt higher monster power. The advice he gives above seems more or less correct.
One of the problems you are probably running into is that because all your gear is "good" or "very good" the last stage of upgrading to "elite" type gear is extremely costly.
The top upgrades on the AH will often cost hundreds of millions. 4 piece inna's, 2-3 piece Natalya's, vile ward, witching hour, echoing fury, a top won khim lau. Those are the types of items you should be looking for at this point (not all of those since some contradict), but that type level.
Its tough to improve on what is good already (and will always get tougher and tougher), but this is why we play. so we can continually strive to be the best we can be.

eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Swen-2595/hero/742178 and here is my crazy kamikaze monk :-D
Looks good to me. Not sure why you refere to it as a Kamikaze monk,. your armor and such seems nice and high.
Trying to decide whats next on my upgrade list.
- Get good rare shoulders with pickup radius
- Get a Vile Ward with pickup radius
- Get a higher DPS weapon with life steal
- Get Pants with sockets
- Get another Cindercoat with more sockets & more Dex
When i was Paragon leveling i had a Leorics with pickup radius.
I have replaced it since and I miss it greatly. That ability is really underrated imo.

I think people kind of missed the point of paragon levels...
It's not intended to be difficult, it's intended to be time consuming - to give players something to do beyond level cap. Time consuming and difficult aren't really the same things.
All True. I've been 100 for a while and although the grind wasn't hard in terms of skill. I felt I needed to be dedicated towards getting there somewhat quickly.
You're running a marathon here and have unlimited time to complete it. The only challenge is pushing yourself to finish as quickly as you can.

good post, i echo much of your analysis on current monks.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
On live right now i have seen many effective tempest rush builds but i dont know how they translate to post 1.0.5.
i wish i was willing to invest in a +spirit per second set of gear so i could play them.

heres the thing.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
when i think about how to build an amazing i monk i think "what is important?" and thats namely DPS and defence.
so how do i get better?
there are many ways of getting more dps...up your crit rate, get more dex, get more IAS.
Well what about defence? what do I do?
well you can get more vit... thats ok, till you get like 40k or more, seems like overkilll after that.
you could get more armor... again its good.
most people choose to increase their resistances.
how do i increase my resistances?
well, the rich guys just dont care, plop down 2000$ usd and buy all the best DPS gear on the AH with the highest all-resist values.
im not rich, what can i do?
well, you can use the current version of OWE and choose a resist (i choose fire), then stack your character with that resist and you should be ok.
what are you saying?
i think the problem ISNT with OWE. i think the problems are the other passives and how weak they are. what about a passive that gives you a bonus of your dex to resist? your dex to vit? (or armor).
there arent any alternatives that measure up to OWE and to make it worse they are nerfing seize the initiative as well.
if you want build diversity, then add better options. taking the best ones away doesnt make me think there are more possibilities.
i realize this is a sidetrack off the initial thread, but alot of the responses seemed to have pushed to this direction.

Sorry for being blunt, but so what? Every broken 'system' or 'mechanic' they decide to fix will 'punish' the people who took advantage of it (not to say 'exploited' it). That's no reason not to fix things.Quote from Disc
Apoligize in advance if i misread the proposal, but if not, i stand by that it would be very punishing to me and others like me.
that's how games work. we arent playing a more simplistic game like checkers or chess where everything is more or less completely balanced for all players. its a work in progress.
game balancing is hard and every move has impact on the community.
i don't think the proposal is bad, but it does take away the values of non-all resist gear. I think that would do alot of harm for most mid geared monks.
The long term value and cost of high rolled all resist gear would go through the roof (and its already high).
for a player such as myself, my mindset wouldn't be "im going to now mix and match my resists" it would be "screw it, im going to get a full set of all resist (instead of fire) in every slot and not bother with OWE" (if i could afford it).
10/1/2012 3:17:38 AM
they also said c) they do not want to change OWE quickly because a nerf would radically change the values and impact of existing monk gear.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
I am merely saying that the above proposal would be a pretty large change to my existing gear in a negative manner.

nats ring and boots (i got the helm too). you want the 7% crit 100% of the time but the 130 dex is very nice too.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
inna chest (or helm) and pants (you want the 2 picee but the 4 piece is nice too).
witching hour (unless you like innas 4).
Echoing Fury is a very nice weapon as is won kim lau.
