Let me throw out some math to show you how IAS can be a dps loss.Quote from Cularic I'm just conjecturing here, but I don't think that IAS will ever be a DPS loss over no IAS. It may not be a huge gain if you run out of arcane power, and you may be able to potentially get more damage with some other magical property instead of IAS in certain cases, but IAS itself won't hurt your DPS.
Case 1: Base Case
- APS = 1, AP spent per second = 18, max AP = 80, AP regen = 10, eDPS = 100k, mob hp = 1000k.
- Net AP usage= 8 AP per second, Channel time = 10s.
- Mob dies in 10s on average.
- APS = 2, AP spent per second = 36, max AP = 80, AP regen = 10, eDPS = 200k, mob hp = 1000k.
- Net AP usage=26 AP per second, Channel time = 3.08s.
- Damage done before out of AP = 2*308k = 615.4k.
- eDPS for remainder of fight, assuming no wand or sig spell = 200k*(10/36) = 55.56k
- Time required to finish mob = (1000k-2*308k)/(55.56k) = 6.91s
- Mob dies in 3.08+9.91 = 9.99s on average.
Granted, that's a very extreme example, but that's the general idea behind not wanting much IAS as a channeler. Also, I assumed you have no wand or sig spell, but if you have either, you can recoup some of the losses. For example, with a wand your wand attack will fire while you're out of AP and does around 1/6th the damge of most channel skills (100% weapon damage vs 600% of AP spenders). That means you do an exta 200k*(1-10/36) dps after you run out, which lowers the mob kill time to 7.9s. If you use a sig spell, just multiply the 200*(1-10/36) by the weapon damage of the sig spell. With a sig spell that does some 200% weapon damage, the kill time is more like 6.78s. That means you only kill the mob about 48% faster with twice the DPS.
Keep in mind this is still just a rough approximation, so if you really want to compare actual dps with different IAS amounts, you'd have to account for cost reduction, multiple skills, etc. The example still should be useful in explaining the case against using lots of IAS as a channeler.
Edit: math should be (more) correct. -

I have a list of the breakpoints. https://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/8770117237#11Quote from Bagstone
I see, I must have confused it with some other channeling spell. Tried to Google for the breakpoints (if there are any) but no luck. Would be nice if someone could shed light on this
Literally almost everyone says you don't want IAS for a channeling build. It DOES drain your resources faster, sure, but you don't do less damage and maybe you get more. It's been repeated so many times everyone believes it, and maybe they are right too, maybe it IS the worst stat, but it's not a loss. -

Jaetch posted a message on Two-Week Progress Report: Solo Torment VI Nephalem RiftTwo-week mark, so here's more or less my progress report.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
The video is my first attempt to solo through a T6 Rift. Last time I tried on T5, but ended up with a bunch of bugged out ghost elites, so I stopped right there. This time at least there were no crazy ghosts so I managed to clear content all the way to the Rift Guardian without dying, but ended up dying to the Guardian three times because it was paired with an elite at the same time That and some cockiness on my part (see attempting to facetank mobs, Frozen Pulse, Guardian, elite, everything, and HP melting). I probably would've died a few more times at least had there been more crazy combinations of multiple elite packs. If not dying, then kiting for a whole lot longer. Group play will definitely go much smoother than soloing, for sure.
Build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wizard#UeYjSO!ZcSR!Ycbacc
Yep, no Teleport nor Black Hole. Asking for trouble, I know.
No bugged items, no exploits, no potentially unintended combinations of items going on (e.g. Unity on you and your follower + follower invulnerability legendary, infinite resources Pride's Fall bug, etc.), no gear swapping... nothing fishy going on.
Gear highlights, self-buffed with Enchantress - Tal Rasha's 4-piece bonus
- 1.4M+ sheet DPS
- 1.68 APS, 60%+ crit chance, 400%+ crit damage
- 16% arcane bonus, 28% Arcane Torrent bonus
- 8K+ regeneration, 3K+ life on hit, 12K+ life after kill, 85K+ globes bonus
- 2800+ average resistances, 8800+ armor
- 12.5% range damage reduction, 34% melee damage reduction, 15% elite damage reduction
- 4 APoC, 10% RCR
T6 Bounty runs are a lot more manageable given their predictability. T6 Rifts, on the other hand... right now they make for a good challenge to see how well you geared yourself (or how poorly you geared yourself).
Many of us, including me, thought Torment VI would be completely untouchable for a month after launch, but there more and more are wizards out there already capable of soloing T6 Rifts without dying every 30 seconds or taking 5 minutes kiting all over the place to kill each elite pack.
...Eh, actually now that I think about it, I haven't seen people do T6 per se, just words and stories getting thrown around. The few videos I did see so far are either party runs or solo with bugged/exploity item combinations. But hey, that's why I uploaded a video, completely uncut.
For the veterans who've stuck with the game since pre-nerf original Inferno in May-June 2012, playing T6 right now is somewhat reminiscent of those days, meaning in due time, some of us may end up farming it more and more effectively and efficiently. Right now it's basically just a "for fun, challenge yourself" game mode.
Regarding one day potentially facerolling T6... I personally don't really like that. I'd prefer to have at least one difficulty that's absurd enough that no one will ever be able to farm it efficiently even with 100% perfect rolls across the board for all 13 items. But, oh, well.

Question #1 - What are you planning to run?
Question #2 - What is your friend, your other friend, your clan mate, your other clan mate, your clan mate's friend, your friend's clan mate's other friend, so on and so forth going to run?
If you can confirm that each and every single one of those people will be running the same exact build, then we can discuss BiS items. It's not so clear cut anymore in RoS. You list a lot of generic stats. What about area damage? Cooldown and resource cost reduction?
You fail to mention String of Ears or Harrington Waistguard in your belts discussion. Instead, you incorporate Witching Hour... huh. Witching Hour is only good for paper stats. Great for boosting sheet DPS if that's all you care about. But if it's sheet DPS you care about, then you should've mentioned Harrington Waistguard, which can more than double your damage output for 10 seconds each time you click on an interactable object. And String of Ears' 30% melee reduction is priceless when you want to have a chance of tanking high Torment elites.
Bracers. None of the set items? Have you seen Aughild's? Two pieces reduce both melee and ranged damage taken by 7%. Three pieces reduce all elite damage taken by 15% and boost elite bonus damage by 15%. That's HUGE because they scale incredibly well with the mitigation stats you already have. I went from kiting Ubers Rakanoth and Ghom in circles on Torment V to face-tanking them by just adding more mitigation and tacking on the three-piece bonus. As for legendary ones, have you used Ancient Parthan Defenders? It's a huge mitigation boost if you can round up a dozen or so mobs and stun them, which isn't exactly a difficult thing to do in places like Nephalem Rifts. How about Warzechian Armguards for speed running Bounties? What about Trag'Oul Coils for potential perma-Archon?
As a side note, movement speed on boots? I highly recommend abandoning movement speed on gear, period, and put them into paragon points and be done with it forever. I'll gladly take any skill damage on boots over movement speed anyday. You're not going to be getting skill bonuses through paragon points. I even rather have boots with intelligence, vitality, resistance and armor over any with movement speed. Have you considered Boots of Disregard? Pretty much end-game boots for some channeling builds. Illusory Boots? Crazy good for speed running Bounties. I'd take Illusory or Disregard over Vyr's anyday, regrettably. Yes, I have both the Boots of Disregard and Illusory Boots. The former you can get through Act III Horadric Caches and the latter in Act II Caches (you can get both in Act IV, too).
But given what you already listed for the different item categories, I'm pretty sure you know that there is really no single BiS item. I mention all of the above items because I have them and I have used them in various builds. I can actually start running Torment VI now with my wizard because of items like Harrington, String of Ears, Aughild's, etc. Without them, I will have a much, much, much more difficult time. -

Much of D2's appeal to many players was it's 'wild west' online presentation. The lack of rules and oversight. The lack of DRM integrity. If an online game launched these days with the same sort of chaotic online structure, it would likely fail. D2 launched back in an era before many homes even had internet, or PC's for that matter. Software companies didn't understand nor appreciate how much a popular online game could be ravaged by nonchalant players and 3rd party bottom-feeders.
Much of that chaos was fun, I admit. But nowadays, a major online game IS going to have some presence of a DRM strategy. I hope more people start appreciating D3 for what it is and cease sneering at it for what it isn't. -

Yeah, but at the end of the day I'd rather not turn into the OP - someone who didn't buy the game but is still ranting and raving about <feature that caused him not to buy the game> two years later. This community needs BETTER than that. That kind of sociopathic obsession is something I wish would die out. Someone didn't buy the game? Great. Let it go and move on. The people who purchased the game deserve to be able to enjoy it without being permanently defending their fansites from trolls.Quote from damage424
Shaggy, if you go through with voting with your wallet then I applaud you. Don't let others tell you it doesn't matter, it does.
I don't want to be that jerkoff who continues to hang around the forums telling everyone else who is enjoying the game how "wrong" they are for liking something I don't like (and truth be told, I really only am at odds with the philosophy of BoA, and not really with the game). But I "fought" for well over a year against the people who hated the game but wouldn't give it a rest and I refuse to let myself become one of them. I'll continue to express my opinions about things, but I'm not going to be that guy who doesn't know how to be anything but pessimistic. -

DFxSANDY posted a message on Recent forum postsSite suggestion-the "recent forum posts" section shows only 6 posts at a time. When the site is busy, they go by fast and it is hard to catch some of them. You would have to go into the regular forum section and check a few sections to see if you missed something. My suggestion would be to increase the size to maybe around 10. This would make it better to keep tabs on new posts. Thank you.Posted in: Site Feedback - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Inspired by /u/briansey's post, I decided to do something similar. Since my PC crashed a day before the season an I couldn't fix it in time (plus preferred to watch the World Cup), I missed the season start. So I saved up 3 Challenge Rift caches (which means I didn't have to run any bounties), got a power level to 70, and wanted to push my luck. As I managed to find a spot in a T13 group as "rift closer", I managed to complete the UE set at around 2-3 hours played. The rest was pretty simple: I used a certain Journey Tracker website to keep track of my season journey process while leaving Kulle out, until the end:
https://youtu.be/esMCJJBay7A
All 3 conquests (3 gems to 65, TX rift in under 2 minutes, GR75 solo) were just pickups along the way. In the end, it took me 8:15. After I got UE everything was solo; but I spent about an hour or so chatting with one of the power levelers in-game, so this is by far not the fastest possible (of course if you get carried the entire way this is probably doable in 2-3 hours or so). Learned some interesting things though - for example, make sure you have 200+ DB and some random legendaries to cube the final 40 items; leave the one bounty until the end, so you can join a random T13 bounty group; when being the rift closer, make sure you maximize toughness+speed so you can pick up DBs+items in the rift; and probably more that I forgot now (not sure if anyone's interested).
Doing this entirely solo would've probably taken about 15 hours: 3-4 hours for getting to 70 (I'm not good at leveling solo, especially DH), then 2-3 hours getting the full 6 piece, and then an hour more because I would've missed out on the ~10-15 rift keys I got as T13 closer.

Reporting Posts
Administrators, Managers, and the Moderation Team try to patrol as much of the boards as possible, but can't read it all. If you find a post that is inappropriate, report it and they will look into it as quickly as possible. Do not involve yourself. It's simple and keeps you out of flame wars and out of trouble.
Do not, under any circumstances, publicly discuss moderation about threads, members, social groups, visitor messages, albums, and/or blogs in any public venue. PM the moderation manager if you feel you have been unfairly treated (see our team page) or the community manager if you need a different contact.
Site Guidelines
Staff Discretion
We operate on a basis of staff discretion, what this means is not all moderators or staff members will act exactly the same to certain situations. We are not machines and for the most part are volunteers. These are the site guidelines, they obviously cannot cover every situation, but if you post something not directly covered here and we still feel like it's against the spirit of the thread or the forums we can and will remove it.
However if you do feel that it was wrongly removed then PM our moderation team about the situation and we will review it.
Warning and Infractions
In general most offenses will either issue a one point infraction, though not limited to, or a warning which doesn't add to your infraction bar, it merely serves as a notification to you that it's not okay to continue the action and it is kept logged for staff to view when dealing with you in the future.
Automatic actions will be taken at certain amounts of infraction points:
Trolling & Flaming
This section should be very self explanatory, DiabloFans operates on general common sense netiquette. We will not tolerate threads made solely to complain or any kind of ridiculous trolling (posts made to provoke a person or a group of people).
Do not make personal attacks against another user based on anything and do not flame. Personal attacks will not be taken lightly.
Off-topic/Derailing/Hijacking
Sometimes discussion steers threads into a different direction than the original post. That is fine. What is not fine is purposely entering a thread and steering it in a different direction to derail it. If you enter a thread about how great kittens are and start telling everyone kittens are terrible and puppies are better, that is derailing. On the same line of thinking though, if you enter a thread about how bad a puppy is and you wish it would stop making messes in the floor and someone comes in and says puppies are fine you're a moron, that's also not okay.
Remember to not take part and report it instead, it will keep you out of trouble.
Videos and Streams
Our forums are not an advertising platform. Do not create a thread to advertise your stream or attempt to advertise your stream otherwise - we will delete such threads/posts without a notification.
If you have created a video about any Diablo 3 content, be it a class guide, footage of you killing monsters, or a discussion about the game's features, feel free to post this on our forums. However, please note the following rules:
Video threads that we feel are just about advertising your channel and do not provide basis for a constructive and meaningful discussion will be deleted without a notification.
Also, please note that our forum is primarily intended to be a platform for discussion - so even if you're a content creator, make sure to also participate in discussions when you're posting videos. We do not have an official rule or ratio of "threads vs posts" or "video vs discussion posts" numbers, but we do keep an eye on this and will notify you if we think the ratio is getting out of hand. If you want to post multiple videos please make a thread and reply to add new videos (or edit the last post - see our bumping rules).
Advertising
In general, we do not allow advertising on our site. If you have inquiry that might be related to advertising your content please contact our moderation team about it first. It will then be discussed with other members of the staff and a decision will be made. We reserve the right to refuse for any reasons we choose and are not obligated to explain them. We will never allow advertisement to sites for monetary gain, only ones providing meaningful discussion for our members and relevant topics.
If anyone posts any links to any guides of the sort that are not free and have any sort of strings attached or monetary gain behind them, you will be banned without warning. This includes links in posts, links in your profile, links in your signature, links in reported PMs, or anywhere else. This also includes linking to your blog, Facebook, MySpace, a Youtube video or anything else that provides links to where someone would be selling a guide.
If you are making a guide to help people or just to show friends, whatever, that is fine. I repeat though, if you're charging for your expertise on the matter, you will be banned. This is not a site to advertise on.
Vote Manipulation
Builds in our builds section can be upvoted or downvoted, and you're free to share the link to friends (outside of Diablofans) and ask them to upvote your build. Note however that we have a close watch on potential issues of vote manipulation - i.e., attempts of any kind to artificially inflate (or lower) the vote count on any given build. Vote manipulation will result in 2 infraction points, removal of all associated votes on the build in question, and a ban to accounts who have been identified as being abused for the purpose of vote manipulation. We cannot reveal the specifics on how we go about identifying acts of vote manipulation - but rest assured that such actions will not go unsanctioned.
Bumping
A "bump" is a post in a thread with the purpose to bring this thread to the top of a particular forum list. We do not allow excessive bumping, and while in most forums (e.g., General Discussion) we might be lenient from time to time, please give forums users some time (a few days) before you bump. However, in the clan forums we have a strict 7 day rule. That means if the last post in you clan thread is more recent than 7 days, you are not allowed to post there (even if you have updated information - update the first and/or last post then).
Signatures/Avatars
The use of videos and excessively animated (read: seizure-invoking) images within signatures is prohibited. Do note that you are allowed to use animated images, just not ones that are obscenely animated.
Language Barrier
Note that this is primarily an English community. Posting in public forums (as well as status updates) in languages other than English is considered spam and will be removed. Private manners, such as PM's and wall comments are allowed, as long as both parties are in agreement.
Illegal Activities and Violations of the Terms of Service
Although those are not the official forums, we do not allow any threads or posts that are against the Terms of Service of Blizzard or their games either. This includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:
Any such violations will be moderated without a warning (threads/posts will be locked or deleted and infractions/bans might be issued).

The double goblin event is one of the known, datamined community buffs (and one that has been activated quite regularly in the past). There's a few others that we know of, thanks to a datamine in 2.0.5:
https://www.diablofans.com/news/48064-datamined-patch-2-0-5-class-changes-and-strings
So basically, the "themes" might be based around the following "events":
Maybe there are more, can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but this datamine obviously is quite old. But that's the kind of stuff you can expect.
Double cache might be a season worth playing, as you can rack up a lot of mats for future reforging (32 mats per bounty run, so you could make about 120 mats per hour with a good group).
I hope there's other, more interesting ones. I personally wouldn't mind one that would make things slower or harder, like 10% of the XP or double enemy damage/HP or so, because last season it took me 15 hours to finish guardian (solo self-found on HC after getting a powerlevel to 70), and after that I just lose motivation to play. I wish there was something past Guardian or Guardian would be much higher (like GR100 with all classes or whatever). But as a theme they'll probably keep it more on the casual side.
1
Thanks, apophiz!
Tracker is updated now for S14, all that's missing are the boss names. Hopefully I'll get them before the season start, otherwise I'll update them as soon as I'm done with Guardian.
2
I plan on updating it, yes - but I have to wait until Blizzard send me the info. I've already contacted Nevalistis but haven't heard back from her yet, and last season I didn't receive the info in time, so there's a chance it won't be up before the opening weekend (at least the boss names). We'll see, I'm waiting for the S14 blog post which at least will give us the conquests and Chapter 4 reward.
I've added a countdown and placeholders and so on, so at least that's there.

I think if you're just looking for a casual game in which you can randomly slay some demons and get some loot, without having to delve too much into theorycrafting, numbercrunching, or "making the right choice", Diablo 3 is an amazing game - especially the first 10-100 hours (depending on how fast/slow you are, and basically the slower you are because you take your time the better your experience will be).
Once you've experienced it all and you hit the ceiling and all there is is farming higher numbers (increasing paragon and gem levels for higher GR numbers) the game becomes stale. It reminds me of Torchlight 1 (just when it came out) - the first 15 hours were some of the most amazing experience I've ever had in any game ever. So. Much. Fun. But then there was nothing new, the itemization and game design just "stopped" after a certain level (I think it was 60), and the game become boring almost instantly.
Yeah, this game is definitely underappreciated. I mean, if this game was shit I wouldn't have 4k hours played.
1
I think if you don't stutter step and/or do the other crazy things Wudijo and other top DHs do, GR93 with your gear/paragon is quite a good result already. To go higher you'll need to either simply become more powerful (higher gems by doing some group GRs, though it's difficult to find a spot as a DH; more paragon, better gear) or "step up your gameplay" which includes stuff like stutter stepping.
What do you reckon is your biggest limitation, damage or survivability? What caught my eye is the fact that you have incredibly low HP (less than 500k) due to the fact that you have almost no vitality on the pieces where it could be an option (e.g., shoulders, hands, offhand). Sometimes just becoming a bit more tanky allows for more time to shoot because you have to vault less often. Also makes sure your discipline always is super maxed out. I also don't like stutter stepping, and I found it good to always go a bit more defensive (sometimes even by switching one item to a defensive choice, such as Esoteric, though with that setup of course 99 isn't an option - but I haven't tried to really "push" with UE).
Maybe someone else will provide some insights, it's been some time since I played myself. But you made me consider going back and trying what I can achieve as well... just waiting for the post-season "gear merge"
1
You need to get a new one - old items don't get updated retroactively (only set items/bonuses, and sometimes legendaries but only in rare exceptions and Deathwish isn't one of them).

"Being neglected"? This is the 36th challenge rift and the first one where the chosen clear is really one of the top clears. This was a request by the community for a long time ("make challenge rifts really challenging"). I think realizing an idea brought forward by the community is the opposite of "neglecting". But that's just me
