for the conspiracy theorist ,6 hours played y-day mp3 no set no legendary

    MF? 100? :S

150-200 with MP/NV. And same here - about 6 hours, nothing so far.

Like I said earlier: if you have better gear and higher paragon level, you have a completely different picture and find lots of legs/sets - just do the math. My friends who are ~20 paragon levels higher also found a lot since the patch. But also, RNG is RNG; I'm having bad luck, they're on a lucky streak.

It's so ridiculous when people with paragon 70+, perfect gear, capped MF, and infinite time complain about "too many legendaries". You got this gear, MF, and paragon level in order to get all these drops in the first place. Please note that the "doubled" drop rate for casual players means: they will get 2 instead of 1 legendary per week. With casual I mean 50k dps, 100-150 MF incl. 5NV, and MP1-3. If you're farming MP8 with 300k dps and 600MF, you're not only 5 times faster in killing mobs, you also have an about 4 times higher chance of drops. In 10 hours of daily playing you'll find about 20 times more legendaries than a casual player who has 10 hours playtime per week.

Please remember this when you "complain" about having found 20 legendaries and grant the casuals their 1-2 drops per week. Thanks.

Also, the increase in legendaries in the AH is absolutely normal - everyone's farming like crazy now for the Hellfire Ring; lots of people are returning to the game who previously stopped playing because they lost interest. It's just obvious that the AH will be flooded, but it will go back to normal in a few days/weeks.

There will always be a "timeout" - you need 5NV for the organs to drop, which means no fight can last longer than 30 minutes anyways.

What? Why? Can you elaborate on that??

Edit: Okay, I read it in the other thread. Well, these are the breakthrough points for a WW build; if you're playing something different, these breakpoints are different as well, of course.

Thanks Jaetch for summing it up so nicely. And thanks everyone else here for contributing to the discussion. As there is no conclusive study yet and there are so many open questions, I'm thinking about performing a study similar to what Loroese did for WW/LoH. But as I'll have to take a one week break from D3 now, it won't happen within the next few days... maybe I'll even wait for 1.05.

    2. If a spell cannot crit, your CHC and CHD are factored in the spell's each damage done/tick - pretty much like Desintegrate or Hydra can't crit but their damage is affected by both crit stats.

Is this true? For my Barbarian, it works differently in the case of Rend: when applying the DoT, there is a roll whether or not Rend crits. If it crits, all its damage ticks are increased; if not, you should re-apply Rend ;-)
Would be interesting as to whether this is differently for Wizard DoTs and if yes, why the hell we have two different mechanics here...

Would like to hear some confirmations/corrections from somebody who did.

    Absolutely, same here :-)

TheDemokin: if I interpret your post right, it means bottom line that every point IAS increases your flat damage out put to the same extent, but the way how it changes your playing style greatly varies depending on the spell's mechanics?

TheDemokin: strictly speaking, Twister wouldn't benefit from IAS then as well, wouldn't it? Hm. If Audacitus and SolTheDruid are right, then essentially every spell benefits from IAS: either the cast rate is increased or the damage over time as inflicted by a spell is increased.

However, doesn't every point in attack speed increase the displayed DPS in the character screen, which in turn means that every spell has increased damage for increased attack speed? This would mean that while DoT spells benefit from IAS, it offers less improvements to these spells than to spells that have an increased cast rate. Weird.

For all this theorycrafting, it would be so helpful if Diablo 3 offered a combat log option...

    Hi all,

I like to switch spells occasionally and as I'm upgrading my Wizard's gear, I just ran into a problem. It seems as if some builds don't benefit at all from IAS while others completely rock when you stack IAS. I tried to Google for a comprehensive list, but all the information I could find was more or less "guesswork" and much of it pre-1.04 or even earlier.

It would be interesting to have a list of the most commonly used spells and if (and to what extent) they are affected by IAS. And of course, how that's going to change with 1.05 :-)

For example, I've heard different things about the Archon beam, the last thing I've read is that Archon as a whole completely scales with IAS. Same goes for Twister and Arcane Orb. Right?

However, Blizzard and Hydra don't seem to benefit from IAS at all. Is that correct?

    Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

Regarding aggro/threat: Here are some nice facts about aggro in Diablo 3:
    gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/67003/how-does-aggro-work-in-diablo-iii
After reading all of this, you'll probably realize that the "rules" are so messed up that it's more or less RNG in most of the situations. However, if you can "save" a teammate from dying by stunning and/or attracting a mob that's chasing him, it's good enough for tanking. My DH friends don't die that often (I can't do much about mortar or ranged groups).

    I'm using this right now:

    eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WVgkYX!bVU!acZcZa

Rend is so powerful... I think I'll stick to it.
Also, Cleave > Frenzy and Superstition > Relentless, I agree.

And now I have a problem... I'd like to use Demoralize and/or Ancient Spears. What to kick out???

    Thanks for all the replies!

@Hellfrog and Bogok: I'll just give it a try tonight in a few test runs and see what works best for me. Haven't had a close look at Superstition yet, I always felt like Relentless is my live saver. According to the EHP calc, Tough as Nails adds 12.6% to my EHP, Nerves of Steel 21% and Superstition would add 25% versus ranged - what about dropping Touch as Nails? Or is that a no-go?

@luizdeh: Awesome advice, I kind of overlooked that pickup also applies to globes. My DH friends will love this, because picking up all the globes improves their DPS as well ;-) I'll follow on that. As for the life regen - it's on my list to get some, but it's really low priority, I'd like to focus on LoH. Tbh, I haven't been in too many situations where I'm "out of enemies" and low health. There's always another mob or two around the corner - Leap and hit and I'm back at full health in no time, thanks to LoH. And it's hard to simulate what ~2000 life regen would feel like, because it's so expensive... :-/ Maybe I'll get some cheap gear and try it out.

@Philippos: I'm not interested in PvP at all, thanks ;-)

Regarding the aggro issue: tanking ranged is close to impossible, yes; and mortar mobs will always shoot at the ranged DDs. But Wrenching Smash worked quite well so far; I'll try to play around with Demoralize and Ancient Spears tonight.

@Boss_Hogg: Nice build. So you swapped Ground Stomp completely with Demoralize, interesting. I'll give that a try, too :-)

I've got two inferno characters - an Archon wizard for solo play and a tank barbarian for act 3 farming (in a group with 2 demon hunters). I am not interested in damage at all, I just want to keep the two demon hunters save from all the bad guys. Many of the build discussions or inferno threads mix "tanking" and "DPS", but I'd like to keep these two aspects separated. I've got zero "% dmg to life" and only rely on LoH to be independent of my damage (as much as it is possible in D3).

    Here are my stats:
oi48.tinypic.com/wb6waw.jpg (can't paste URLs because it's my first post - haha)

My passives are Nerves of Steel (atm switching equip from life% to vitality), Tough as Nails, and Relentless.

A usual fight looks like this: War Cry (Impunity), jump into the pack with Leap (Iron Impact), hit Ground Stomp (Wrenching Smash) and whenever possible Revenge (Provocation).

If anyone has any suggestion up to this point - great, otherwise I hope I'm on the right track. While I'm in general open to new ideas, the two main concerns where I'm really undecided are my primary active skill and the remaining 6th skill to add into my rotation.

Primary: I'm currently running around with Frenzy+Sidearm, but especially after realizing that Sidearm doesn't trigger LoH, it makes me wonder if I should switch to Cleave (with Reaping Swing or Gathering Storm). Would be great if some people who have lots of tanking experience could share their insights on that.

6th slot: I've used Threatening Shout (Falter or Demoralize) until now, but I've been thinking if I should try spamming Rend (Bloodlust) instead. Or maybe even replace Revenge with Rend, as it's getting nerfed in 1.05?
