I'm not sure if this was in an interview with David Brevik or the Schaefer Brothers but one of them said that they would love to buy the Diablo I.P. if they could and had the money.
I feel that the current Blizzard only sees the Diablo series as nothing more than a product to exploit and make money out of, as well as just experiment and take big risks on (such as with the inclusion of a RMAH as well as porting their first ever console game in years).
Now I'm not against companies making money off of their I.P. but I would like them to make money off of games the right way, I want them to really put their hearts and souls into it and treat franchise as a work of art that set the precedent for all modern ARPGS rather than simply a generic money maker.
The only way I can see this happening, is if people actually don't buy the Diablo 3 expansion, and just let it slowly die off, maybe in 10 years or so later when the franchise have become nothing but a shell of it's former self. The I.P. can be bought by true Diablo fans and be recreated into a true successor to Diablo 2, until then we are left with what we have in Diablo 3, love it or hate it.

So even though all these changes sound good, its going to take six months to a year for some of these itemization changes to be implemented. -

I've been in denial for awhile, but I think I'm ready to accept that Blizzard much like Bioware is just a shadow of it's former self. -

Judging from their statements, a lot of truly game changing tweaks won't come until way later on, but if that means we get to have a smaller 1.0.8 with just those 3 main areas of tweaks plus some small class balance I wouldn't mind it come out sooner.Posted in: News

If players could create themselves uber characters in the PTR, they would use that to satisfy all their curiosity and it would kill the satisfaction of accomplishing that in the real game.
Isn't the point of playing a game to have satisfaction though? Originally why do people play games? Aren't games suppose to be for fun, satisfaction and an enjoyable experience while you are playing it?
Diablo 2 had a dual system wherein you could play single-player/open battle.net and server side multi-player.
In the single-player/open battle net I could spawn items/stats on my various characters of varying degree to test different builds as well as armor composition. I did gain satisfaction from this and it did satisfy some of my curiosity, but by no means did it quench it's thirst.
I had the ability to test all types of items from weak rares with specific attributes to godly rune words. While having access to these items in singleplayer/open battle net did create a lot of enjoyment it did not discourage me from attempting to gain said items on server side multi-player.
It is because of that system that I had played Diablo 2 on again off again for last decade. There is no other game on the market that had such a nice combination of fluid systems.
I know that this dream of having the ability to spawn items much like my dream of having a single player/open battle.net system will probably never come into fruition, but that is not to say I agree with the current system.
I do not agree with the current system and firmly believe that computers/video games are meant for ENJOYMENT/SATISFACTION. -

Interesting stuff from the blues. Apparent it's now officially confirmed that blues can spawn any items they want and whatever quantity they want. I wonder if this applies to live.
Not trying to rock the boat or anything but I wonder if the harm is really that bad in letting players be able to do this at least in PTR, so we can test items/builds.
I'm not strictly posting this for you but just in general for everyone.
PTR - means public test realm, you TEST stuff in it. and hes not just any blue poster, hes a QA analyst meaning its his job to able to re-produce any bugs that either are found by devs or players.
This is a very wrong assumption that all blue posters are the same, and quiet a lot of people don't understand it very well. being blue doesn't mean:
-they developed the game
-they designed the game
-they have access to player infos
Also they do let players sometimes to try out certain dungeons or specific weapon, but since diablo's loot is not set and its always in RNG it wouldnt make sense to give players the best quality for testing, it doesnt help anyone. They want to test RNG and gameplay usually, because ur experience and gameplay will be a lot diff than the next guy.
In most PTRs in wow they provide you with premade characters with full gear and full profs and supplies so you can actully test ur spec, talents, gameplay. Since there is an "endgame" gear it works in that case to give test gear.
I think your post kind of deviated from my point.
Firstly, I never stated that all blues are the same, there are many types of Blizzard employees such as QA analyst, Community Managers, Developers, Support Forum Agents, etc which all fall into the category defined as "Blues".
You are correct in that there are people who do not know this but don't assume that someone doesn't know this just because they mention "blue".
Secondly, there is no harm in sending out a post indicating that it would be nice to have the ability to spawn items. To further my point against to comment.
I never indicate that said items have to be "best quality" as indicated in your posting. Items dropped in D3 are indeed governed by the RNG, but it does not hurt to be able to test items of Legendary or Set quality since if you have read from the Vasaden's posting,
Items can be spawn subject to the RNG equivalent to as if it were to have been dropped from a monster, thus having properties derived from the in game RNG as you would on live.
The point of PTR a Public Test Realm, is itself to test for a variety of things. Blizzard's internal testing team is limited in that it would not have the extended abilities of a large testing pubic community and to say that testing the ability to spawn items, including but not limited to Legendaries and Sets and that "it doesn't help anyone" is a flawed argument,
Being able to test a large range of items including but not limited to Legendaries and Sets will expose a lot bugs that Blizzard's own internal testing team will never have the ability to do on their own. -

Blizzard All-Stars: after being in an intense legal battle with Valve over the the name "Blizzard DOTA" and within it's conclusion within the last year. I suspect they might throw this in somewhere.

Predictions:
Project Titan: They will probably will announce some more information for this project, maybe even give it a name and have some test demos at Blizzcon for attendees to try out.
Starcraft 2: With the release of HOTS this year I highly doubt they are going to announce anything with Legacy of the Void at Blizzcon at all this year, if we are lucky maybe a very early alpha demo in the play test area.
WOW: Same with SC2, MOP was just released at the end of last year I know they are planning another expansion for WOW but probably not much information will come out on it.
Diablo 3: Here is the big one, at the rate Blizzard is going, 2-3 months per new patch. 1.0.7 was just released earlier this month, I suspect a 1.0.8 to launch sometime in May, possibly around the Diablo 3 one year anniversary. 1.0.9 will be sometime in late summer around August, then finally 1.1 will be around late October just in time for Blizzcon discussion.
Blizzard might actually consider Diablo 3 after 1.1 to be a "completed project" and we won't really receive any content patches like what we have been getting. Again leading towards the likely announcement of Diablo 3's first expansion, definitely not a date of course but for sure some information and possibly some Diablo 3x beta keys in the Blizzcon goodie bags :Thumbs Up:

The fact is and from the eyes of Activision Blizzard(A/B) D3 is a huge financial success, how it got there is another story, but because it is a huge financial success A/B feels the need to continually support it is they plan to have at least 1 if not more expansions in the future.
They might end up pulling a WoW and already have a total of 4-5 expansions planned for it already... or at the very least go the SC2 route and have at least another 2.
At the end of the day as long as there is hope (continued promise as well as small delivery of improvements) people would still play.
I personally don't actively play but whatever reason, whether its nostalgia or my ill founded hope for D3's future. I am still here and will play a bit with every new patch/PTR that goes out.

Just logged into my PTR client, it seems as of 8:57 AM PST, the 1.0.7 PTR client is still not able to be downloaded automatically with a click of a button. Obviously there are ways to directly download it, because the datamined info is already out, but it doesn't automatically download as of now.
It looks like it'll be up soon though if PTR does go live today, BNET maintenance is suppose to go from 3:00AM to 11:00AM PST, it also wouldn't be surprising if there was a delay so if the PTR were to launch today, I don't except it to be available until maintenance is completed.
EDIT: it seems EU already has there's for US - West it's still not up, guess it depends on where you are?...
