Actually, they should remove Inferno and change Hell to "Inferno" (difficulty-wsie). Normal and Nightmare should allow you to reach level 60 (1-30 and 30-60). It would make leveling a little less tedious since the last 10 levels were extremely slow.

Allow Normal and Nightmare to potentially drop high-end items so people won't feel like they are wasting their time... well, at very least, it would help a little.

Allowing end game items to potentially drop in a new consolidated NM-Hell probably would help a lot. I always thought Jay's model of having end game items only being able to be dropped in inferno really made people feel like they had to play inferno rather than it just have been a harder difficulty just for kicks or people who wanted to "challenge" themselves.

At the very least the removing of Hell would help a lot, though I think if they are to release these changes with expansion they might as well just remove both NM and Hell altogether (assuming there will be at least one new act added to the game). and make it so the first playthrough will be from 1-60 on normal and then followed by inferno (but inferno would be more open or perhaps have randomized acts/levels as opposed to the current linear story mode.

Here is a reply from Wyatt to Flux, when asked about the possibility of removing the Hell difficulty, so that you have some context and insight.
Wyatt Cheng: A related question to that is, 1-30 the first time through normal is interesting, maybe the first time because of the story. maybe the 2nd time through it’s a different class and you’re doing different skills. Maybe the pacing feels right. maybe it’s even interesting further down since the challenge holds up and your loot/reward acquisition rate stays high and feels right.
But then kind of like what you’re saying, I don’t know if it’s specifically NM and Hell that’s the issue. More that you really want to get to Inferno and you’ve got a long road ahead of you and it’s very predictable and very much the same. Another question for us to ask ourselves is, what makes the destination so much more interesting than the journey? Can we make the journey appealing as well? If not, then maybe we should just move the destination closer.

I don't think itemization or improved character skills alone would improve the tedious feeling of going through NM and Hell, there definitely needs to be quite a lot of changes to the journey (NM, HELL specifically).

Perhaps we are looking at it wrong, Inferno is not the destination but only another step in our journey.

Our destination is more like reaching Paragon 100 and doing other stuff afterwards like PvP, possibly achievements for some people if they can make them more meaningful like from Mr. Monstrocity's Loot 2.0 suggestions.

To that end, I personally think it would better if they just consolidated Normal, NM, and Hell into the 1-60 framework, I think Diablo historically has been always been about end game (other that low level dueling and at least in D2). For example, all the available skills you can have are unlocked once you reached level 30, and that is accomplished just a little while afterwards past entry into NM as I recall (correct me if I'm wrong).

I think another two issues in regards to the early/mid-game issue is that the story is just too tied into the game and the linearity of the maps.

Even though D2 essentially only had large square regions of maps randomized in one of several directions it still felt more "open" than the current D3. I think if anything besides itemization and skill improvements they should really consider reworking a lot of the maps similar to what D2 and Grim Dawn are doing with map randomization, and also generally create a free roam mode detached from the story.

I know there are a ton of other issues and more specific detail to go into but this is at least a start.

I wonder if they added anything new to the D3 console demo ever since PAX, i also wonder since loot is shared and the main focus is on local coop for D3 console if this means there will be no other forms of multiplayer other than local multiplayer (i.e. no lan or online matchmaking for D3 console.)

There is also possible but highly unlikely chance for the announcement of the D3 expansion, I expect it for Blizzcon 2013 in Nov, but who knows, definitely not gonna hold my breath on it though.

The stack size for gold sales on the auction house has been increased from 1 million to 10 million.

I'm guessing this is to curb third-party gold sales (which is 100m per $3)

Blizzards new stack size = 120m per $3 ( that is when it drops to 25 cents per stack)

    All-in-all it's just another band-aid solution, it'll reach 10 mil @ 25 cents AKA as 1 mil for 2.5 cents soon enough.

They probably should have raised it even higher and just let the math work itself out. Its not that hard to convert... or for those mathematically challenged I'm sure someone would create a conversion tool or have it real time in some RMAH tracker somewhere.

These seem to be the only changes that I see which are different from the previous PTR patch notes.

Speaking of changes Overneathe, is there a way to find out more about the Anniversary change, specifically what the bonus to MF/GF I'm guessing it will work similar to a MF/GF shrine and just give a standard 25+ MF/GF and hopefully this can go beyond the cap as well or else seems pretty pointless for those at P100 or have max Mf/Gf

As for loot drop rates, I'm not really sure if there are just generally nerfs or a combination or buffs and nerfs to drop rates to the different monsters. Some of these monsters can have quite a bit of HP especially in terms of MP scaling... Probably need to test.

So is this the famous LOOT upgrade patch ?? ..or is that still being worked on? PVP ever come out?

    no and sort of.

They didn't say which patch will have the loot improvements (legendaries that are the same level as monsters that dropped them). For now its just 4 player FFA screwing around pvp with no death in HC.

The PVP patch was always set to be 1.1.0. My prediction for that patch is a bunch of people returning, getting rocked in obsolete gear, then spending the next 6 months complaining about how gear shouldn't matter in pvp instead of farming new gear, then quitting the game but sticking around on the forums and fan sites to complain about the game.

I'm surprised(?) they didn't try to squeeze in more maps for brawling, the scorched chapel must seems pretty bland by now. As I wonder if the PvP patch will still be set to 1.1.0 or just thrown out altogether, perhaps the main focus will be itemization in 1.1 now...

Sounds good, we really need to get this patch out so that Blizzard can actually start rolling out more meaningful changes such as with itemization changes, more pvp zones, and continued class balance.

The amount they are patching is actually quite fast.

2 Patches to PTR in the same week.

It must be a record! 1.0.6 had just 3 lines of change that took several months to implement.

Tooltips in the Auction House will now show an item comparison for a player's currently selected character

Man people have been asking for forever, glad it's finally changed months later.

Players can now craft items using materials located in the shared stash

Small change, but huge QOL improvement IMO.

A maximum of eight buffs and debuffs will now be displayed on the UI

I was expecting it to go up to at least 10 for good measure, but I guess +3 is better than the horrible 5 only clutter.

Overall, I feel the changes are good. We still haven't seen the specifics of the changes for monster density, but this is a pretty good patch in terms of QOL and generally not that much stuff that people really disagree with other than the scorpion nerf.

The most surprising thing was that the only class balance change was to the wizard, I was expecting at least some more slight changes to the rest of the classes.

Is this a complete datamined patch note? or will the official notes reflect more?

EDIT: I guess since they are notes directly from the launcher. It's the official notes?

The patch actually seems very small at face value, but it probably does have great ramifications.

I'm not sure if this was in an interview with David Brevik or the Schaefer Brothers but one of them said that they would love to buy the Diablo I.P. if they could and had the money.

I feel that the current Blizzard only sees the Diablo series as nothing more than a product to exploit and make money out of, as well as just experiment and take big risks on (such as with the inclusion of a RMAH as well as porting their first ever console game in years).

Now I'm not against companies making money off of their I.P. but I would like them to make money off of games the right way, I want them to really put their hearts and souls into it and treat franchise as a work of art that set the precedent for all modern ARPGS rather than simply a generic money maker.

The only way I can see this happening, is if people actually don't buy the Diablo 3 expansion, and just let it slowly die off, maybe in 10 years or so later when the franchise have become nothing but a shell of it's former self. The I.P. can be bought by true Diablo fans and be recreated into a true successor to Diablo 2, until then we are left with what we have in Diablo 3, love it or hate it.

Like any other AAA title development team, Diablo 3's team is slow to implement simply because they are very bureaucratic and have to spend a lot of time on things such as localization that arent as prominent for indie companies.

So even though all these changes sound good, its going to take six months to a year for some of these itemization changes to be implemented.
