Offline mode, I dont have very stable internet and love being able to play offline without fear of disconnects. It also allows flexibility in the game allowing me to play how I wish.

Sep 26, 2013Oranite posted a message on New Datamined Patch - Class Changes, Passive Effects, Character slots, Stat caps, Quests, and MUCH moreI'm glad to see some caps on the trifecta stats.Posted in: News
I still have a problem with movement speed, movement speed has always had a 25% cap from items and IMO this needs to be increased by a bit (perhaps to 36%? or increased the overall speed by 25% but leave the current cap?)
It also has always been weird to have a 25% cap when 2 items at max movement speed only give 12% each. (24 or some divisor of 12 makes more sense)
Also if they end up keeping this weird cap, Blizzard should just make ilvl70 (or whatever the end game ilvl is for ROS) to be able to give 25% MS bonus on boots or another single item, so there will be less dependency on making sure your char has 2x items with MS at 12% each.
For Ex.
-1x End game boot with 25% MS bonus or Lacunis, or Innas or whatever. Rather then 2 pieces. -

As for the AH announcement, wow... I did not expect that coming, but im not sure about shutting down both the GAH and the RMAH, I understand the big debate about it, but we need something to replace it maybe a Barter house rather than going back to the old D2 system. -
Aug 21, 2013Oranite posted a message on Diablo III: Reaper of Souls RevealedFirst of all, I'm surprised and actually quite glad that Blizzard actually released quite a bit of information on RoS. Things i'm still curious about and may/may not have been answered.Posted in: News
- Whether there will still be 4 difficulties in the expansion.
- Whether the Crusader is the only Class.
- Whether there would be another expansion, indication of "first" diablo 3 expansion upon announcement.
- What changes to the GAH/RMAH will there be?
- PvP, will we finally have more PvP modes?
- Is there more character slots? I heard something about 2 additional slots, but can anyone confirm?
- Have there been any changes to the previous 4 acts, particularly Act 4?
- Will there be a "disable" dialogue mode/disable all Cinematics.
- Extended Affix pool for monsters?
- More Ubers/Changes to the existing Uber Systems.
- Is there still a 4 player per game limit?
- Changes to the chat room and BNET.

Actually, they should remove Inferno and change Hell to "Inferno" (difficulty-wsie). Normal and Nightmare should allow you to reach level 60 (1-30 and 30-60). It would make leveling a little less tedious since the last 10 levels were extremely slow.
Allow Normal and Nightmare to potentially drop high-end items so people won't feel like they are wasting their time... well, at very least, it would help a little.
Allowing end game items to potentially drop in a new consolidated NM-Hell probably would help a lot. I always thought Jay's model of having end game items only being able to be dropped in inferno really made people feel like they had to play inferno rather than it just have been a harder difficulty just for kicks or people who wanted to "challenge" themselves.
At the very least the removing of Hell would help a lot, though I think if they are to release these changes with expansion they might as well just remove both NM and Hell altogether (assuming there will be at least one new act added to the game). and make it so the first playthrough will be from 1-60 on normal and then followed by inferno (but inferno would be more open or perhaps have randomized acts/levels as opposed to the current linear story mode. -
Jul 27, 2013Oranite posted a message on Vote for Diablo III's CMs, Blue Posts, Lion and Pan's Diablo MotorcyclePosted in: NewsHere is a reply from Wyatt to Flux, when asked about the possibility of removing the Hell difficulty, so that you have some context and insight.
Wyatt Cheng: A related question to that is, 1-30 the first time through normal is interesting, maybe the first time because of the story. maybe the 2nd time through it’s a different class and you’re doing different skills. Maybe the pacing feels right. maybe it’s even interesting further down since the challenge holds up and your loot/reward acquisition rate stays high and feels right.
But then kind of like what you’re saying, I don’t know if it’s specifically NM and Hell that’s the issue. More that you really want to get to Inferno and you’ve got a long road ahead of you and it’s very predictable and very much the same. Another question for us to ask ourselves is, what makes the destination so much more interesting than the journey? Can we make the journey appealing as well? If not, then maybe we should just move the destination closer.
I don't think itemization or improved character skills alone would improve the tedious feeling of going through NM and Hell, there definitely needs to be quite a lot of changes to the journey (NM, HELL specifically).
Perhaps we are looking at it wrong, Inferno is not the destination but only another step in our journey.
Our destination is more like reaching Paragon 100 and doing other stuff afterwards like PvP, possibly achievements for some people if they can make them more meaningful like from Mr. Monstrocity's Loot 2.0 suggestions.
To that end, I personally think it would better if they just consolidated Normal, NM, and Hell into the 1-60 framework, I think Diablo historically has been always been about end game (other that low level dueling and at least in D2). For example, all the available skills you can have are unlocked once you reached level 30, and that is accomplished just a little while afterwards past entry into NM as I recall (correct me if I'm wrong).
I think another two issues in regards to the early/mid-game issue is that the story is just too tied into the game and the linearity of the maps.
Even though D2 essentially only had large square regions of maps randomized in one of several directions it still felt more "open" than the current D3. I think if anything besides itemization and skill improvements they should really consider reworking a lot of the maps similar to what D2 and Grim Dawn are doing with map randomization, and also generally create a free roam mode detached from the story.
I know there are a ton of other issues and more specific detail to go into but this is at least a start. -
Jun 6, 2013Oranite posted a message on Diablo III – Coming September 3 to Xbox 360 & PS3, Diablo III Confirmed to Raise Hell at This Year’s E3I wonder if they added anything new to the D3 console demo ever since PAX, i also wonder since loot is shared and the main focus is on local coop for D3 console if this means there will be no other forms of multiplayer other than local multiplayer (i.e. no lan or online matchmaking for D3 console.)Posted in: News
There is also possible but highly unlikely chance for the announcement of the D3 expansion, I expect it for Blizzcon 2013 in Nov, but who knows, definitely not gonna hold my breath on it though. -

The stack size for gold sales on the auction house has been increased from 1 million to 10 million.
I'm guessing this is to curb third-party gold sales (which is 100m per $3)
Blizzards new stack size = 120m per $3 ( that is when it drops to 25 cents per stack)
All-in-all it's just another band-aid solution, it'll reach 10 mil @ 25 cents AKA as 1 mil for 2.5 cents soon enough.
They probably should have raised it even higher and just let the math work itself out. Its not that hard to convert... or for those mathematically challenged I'm sure someone would create a conversion tool or have it real time in some RMAH tracker somewhere. -

- Accursed, Betrayed, Bile Crawlers, Blazing Guardians, Blazing Ghouls Brood Hatchlings, Cavern Spiders, Charged Constructs, Chilling Constructs, Crazed Cultists, Crazed Summoners, Dark Conjurers, Dark Cultists, Dark Moon Clan Impalers, Dark Summoners, Dark Zealots, Deranged Cultists, Doom Wraiths, Dust Shamblers, Enraged Zealots, Fallen, Fallen Grunts, Fallen Peons, Fallen Soldiers, Foul Conjurers , Frost Guardians, Ghouls, Hungry Corpses, Moon Clan Impalers, Murderous Fiends, Noxious Guardians, Ravenous Dead, Retching Cadavers, Reviled, Savage Fiends, Spiderlings, Shade Stalkers, Shadow Vermin, Shock Guardians, Skeletal Crawlers, Smoldering Constructs, Spine Lashers Stygian Crawlers, Tormented Stingers, Toxic Constructs, and Vicious Ghouls
- The stack size for gold sales on the auction house has been increased from 1 million to 10 million
These seem to be the only changes that I see which are different from the previous PTR patch notes.
Speaking of changes Overneathe, is there a way to find out more about the Anniversary change, specifically what the bonus to MF/GF I'm guessing it will work similar to a MF/GF shrine and just give a standard 25+ MF/GF and hopefully this can go beyond the cap as well or else seems pretty pointless for those at P100 or have max Mf/Gf
As for loot drop rates, I'm not really sure if there are just generally nerfs or a combination or buffs and nerfs to drop rates to the different monsters. Some of these monsters can have quite a bit of HP especially in terms of MP scaling... Probably need to test.

So is this the famous LOOT upgrade patch ?? ..or is that still being worked on? PVP ever come out?
no and sort of.
They didn't say which patch will have the loot improvements (legendaries that are the same level as monsters that dropped them). For now its just 4 player FFA screwing around pvp with no death in HC.
The PVP patch was always set to be 1.1.0. My prediction for that patch is a bunch of people returning, getting rocked in obsolete gear, then spending the next 6 months complaining about how gear shouldn't matter in pvp instead of farming new gear, then quitting the game but sticking around on the forums and fan sites to complain about the game.
I'm surprised(?) they didn't try to squeeze in more maps for brawling, the scorched chapel must seems pretty bland by now. As I wonder if the PvP patch will still be set to 1.1.0 or just thrown out altogether, perhaps the main focus will be itemization in 1.1 now... -

That makes sense I guess, assuming they will be having one of the newest builds available for Blizzcon attendees to try.

I really hope so too, a lot of the problems with end game progression issues could have been brought earlier to light if more of vanilla was allowed to be test.
It's true that Blizzard wants to hide as much of the story as possible to at least have some selling point, but it's not like for those who really seek it they can't get it already from the datamine notes.
I really hope that all these new systems: nephalim rifts, adventure mode, reforging via mystic, gheeds, devils hand, etc. all get a pretty through testing especially at end game before RoS goes live.

Very POE of you. It worked for POE cant say it wont work for D3, the currency will essentially shift to mats or gems, which actually isnt a bad idea as mats do have a sink with crafting while trading with gold, especially 3rd trades will only shift the gold around and doesnt really remove it from the economy.
Too bad about pickup radius though if this happens, its use will be cut in half unless its toggleable for gems and mats as well in the future.

Many of the great idea's we've seen could have come into fruition, ya I know there are pros and cons with allowing modding but being the way it is, it is all or nothing and it's quite a shame how so many good ideas for D3 will never be more than a few paragraphs in a topic due to the game's current limitations.

I hope OP doesn't mean guest pass anyone could just go over to the Blizzard forums and create an account and play a trial version of Diablo 3, but it is strange to have an "extra key" it's not like Blizzard sells D3 in a B1G1 scenario.

I understand the need for companies to make more money, and unlike a subscription based game I don't expect consistent large content patches, hell I'd be very happy to pay like $10-15 every 6 months or so for some meaningful DLC, or mini expansion that adds a bunch of new dungeons, access to more tabs, character slots, and DLC exclusive PvP modes/arenas, but as for the core of the game I would like to see the promised improvements to itemization first.
