This is exactly the attitude I'm talking about. Straight mind-numbing cynicism Just relax, be patient and have fun. If Diablo doesn't seem fun to you, don't play.

Modern cynicism has been defined as an attitude of distrust toward claimed ethical and social values and a rejection of the need to be socially involved. It is pessimistic in regards to the capacity of human beings to make the correct ethical choice, and one antonym is naiveté. Modern cynicism is sometimes regarded as a product of mass society, especially in those circumstances where the individual believes there is a conflict between society's stated motives and goals and actual motives and goals.

hmmm, definition somehow skips over "mind-numbing" part...

ok, i am being cynical. with good reason. one of my favourite pastimes is brutally taken away from me. but i am not angry 24/7 - i have work, family, i like reading a good book or watching films. i am not a person full of hate.

but i don't like my daily checkups on d3 - "oh, maybe the things will go better". ah, no, once again.

    why i don't stop playing? i did.

why i don't play d2, if it was so much better? i would, if there weren't rather unpleasant bug preventing me to

who is the best player? well, put back ladders, fix the abuses, and we could see who is who.

I wonder why people weren't so fuckin cynical when D2 was in it's prime? I think gamers today are just a bit fucked up and jaded.

and you know it how? someone might think that you were actually there...

there were much less internet, much less forums, much less shared abuses at youtube (which wasn't created yet, in case you wonder)

but, there was much more balance (and overly, the balance was not of paramount importance - pick the char and play it, not face single player competition who brags all day long how much they rule by abusing), there was much more MP, there were items actually worth something every time you found one.

and to be rude, there was dev team that actually knew what they're doing - won't go much into this, but PTR was set in two minor patches - why wasn't it up all the time testing PvP, for example, on voluntary basics? we wouldn't be surprised "WOW, THE 2 MILLION DPS CHAR KILLS OPPONENTS IN SINGLE SHOT? WHAT A STRANGE AND UNUSUAL TURN OF EVENTS!" - this was so predictable that even didn't deserve testing at all.

    here's some cynicism for ya

    TOPIC:
oh, strongest D3 player is some abusing kid. no skill needed, no brains. so i vote for a retard who seen on youtube how exactly game should be played, and replicated it. since it needs only money, i guess it's the richest and stupidest kid around. i would hate myself for the rest of my life if i bought an item for 7000$ real money, but someone supposedly thought differently.

i guess he is the uber-player, master of the game and lord of light.

posted a message on poll: two most powerful classes (1.04)
    Quote from RavenNL

I would suspect that by "no major problems with balance" he means "it was not considered an issue". At least that's how I read it in context. (not voting since I haven't played in quite a long time but still find it fun to peek around sometimes)

this is what i meant, maybe wasn't clear enough. yes, hammerdins, sorcs and necros playing in underwears only etc were OP, but there was like 10 major builds and freedom for experiments - basically, skip hammerdin if you hate him, there were like 10 alternative paladin builds, all viable. and underwear necros and sorcs DID die occasionally, so they were just temporary state...

but the topic is D3, not previous games...

are the books worth reading? i mean, there were small inconsistencies between diablo1 and diablo2 lore, but huge holes and mistakes at D3.

on OP, and as someone who didn't read the books (yet) i would prefer The Prophet to be someone more earthly, since neither hell nor heaven were much involved in business of mankind in first two games (with Tyrael marked as an 'exception')

As said in title... Please avoid voting two times for same class. Classes are listed alphabetically.

Explanation: traditionally, Diablo had no major problems with balance. Third incarnation would be no exception, if no AH was involved. Classes would be matter of preference, and people will play what they like or what they suit their playstyle best. However, i've read quite a bit 'changing the class' rants, which made me wonder, for educational purposes, what does community think?

Please explain your choice briefly, and avoid flaming, if possible. Thank you!

The God is wise indeed! Comparing his (short) changelog with actual Blizzard's, I found lots of similarities and can't help but think that Clavdivs had better (1 sec rare identification compared to identification removal; balancing differently normal/nightmare/hell than inferno). i really need to find some time to read the blog. On that topic, maybe I can help in building better site? Nothing monumental, just simple stuff which i can do quickly...

Signature changed to support The God.

i haven't actually read the blog, but this readers digest seems interesting, so i will...

i like INFERNO RUNES proposition - it would be VERY cool to have a balanced skills on inferno, instead steady-growth in power - and also having better balance while leveling - what's the point of having skill unlocked at lvl60 in leveling? you'll play, like, 15min and then you'll get to inferno

i also like buffing the secondary attributes effects - dexterity barbarian seem interesting already - if done properly, could be fun build.

doesn't SPACE became 'force move' recently? but, true, using CTRL to see items you won't pickup is really bad

i'll look into the blog when have more time...

have you any solutions for inferno/paragon, btw?

overall inferno difficult was (and is) too low, and killing diablo should actually being a challenge. but initial idea of having random crap-bosses with imba statistics for totally random loot was bad, so lowering the boss spikes was a good thing. also, acts have no difficulty curve, rather difficulty steps.

agreed that AH is killing the game - full of people exploiting, even having their video streams - and i'm convinced that bots are ruling the AH. and aliens, of course. i read an interview with chinese botter, guy has 100 accounts working 24/7. beat that. you can't, nobody does. and it's easy to detect bots but blizzard won't do it.

RMAH is kinda ok, i like selling something for money, and face it - it would always happen, but not so easy and legitimate. but gold AH is ruining the leveling completely
