you're right, with the addition of pvp blizzard wil probably alter all existing skills so that smokescreen no longer gives immunity, sentry's dont target other players, spike traps suddenly take 5 seconds to charge, preperation doesn't work in arena's, abilities from other players can't be dodged and players are immune to crowd control, it could happen so you're right, there is no point in guessing what strategies will be effective in pvp because we could be playing a totally diffrent game once pvp hits.
I doubt hey will make skills useless in pvp. If thats what they end up doing i won't even bother play.
After being at a crossroads on upgrades a month ago, it seems I'm starting a new cycle right now. Once again I'm stuck in a crossroads with no clue on what to upgrade.
1 - Tal Rasha's for a Rare Amulet, with IAS, CC, Intel (expensive at not so big upgrade)
2 - Belt for Witching Hour (massive loss on EHP)
3 - Wep with socket (veery expensive()
Budget: 15M
Any advice?
Thanks!
Id say your are looking good. Only thing left really is to upgrade current gear to better versions. Which could take a while if you play legit. But, thats part of the fun.
I notice you use horrify, which i would say you would be better off with the rune that ups your Defense by 100% for 3 secs.
So basically you got a credit card all shined up wanting to find out which class will be the most easy to use in pvp?
Any for the 5 classes can be used in pvp. You should just wait and find out what works best for you by trial and error. Dont be a wagon jumper, cookie cutter credit card kid.
Dont assume any class will be the BEST. Figure it out.
PVP was a major feature in D2. No clue what your talking about.
If it wasn't for pvp i bet the 'majority' of players would have stopped playing due to boredom within 3-4 months of playing.
The hostile button was a magical button. From, duels to pking.
I mean really, i bet more than half the player base pvpd in some way, shape or form. Im not really debating this, im just stating the obvious.
Yeah... you're just stating the obvious. The obvious fact, that you have a very self-centered view. If PvP was a major feature, why has Blizzard focused on PvM features with almost every D2 patch? Why is there still no PvP at all in D3? Think about it.
And about your "guess" that more than half the players played D2 just because of PvP - sorry, but just go to any D2 forum, and look at the threads. The PvP sections are always smaller - and this is even though every thread which is remotely related to PvP is moved to that forum. If your claim was true, these forums would be flooded with content. I guess we'll never get an official figure, but your claim has absolutely no evidence.
Diablo was always less about skill; it's about killing millions of monsters and collecting loot. And it was designed such that it can be played by anyone who knows how to use a mouse.
...Cool story. How much PVP did you do in diablo 2? Probably none by that comment.
Yep, none. If you had actually read other comments, including the original first post of this thread, you would have known this.
And I personally don't need to "own" someone to have fun. If me and my mates "own" uber bosses by kicking their asses, we have fun enough.
You sound like a noob...lol. GoooOood For YouuUUuu!
I used to Necro vs Necro against great players in private games all night long just for the love of great duels. There was nothing but respect for each other and we learned alot.
Please,,, Shut up. PvM is that way------------------>
Nothing worse then some guy with no love for pvp trying to make some pointles spoint about why pvp shouldn't exist.
Nothing worse then some guy with no love for the original idea of this game trying to make some pointless point about why this game should be turned into the same shit like every other game out there.
If you like PvP, it's your opinion, but please refrain from insulting me just because I don't share your view about seeing each other player as noob if they're not as awesome as me.
BLAH BLAH BLAH. Only reasons theres no pvp in D3 is because Jay Wilson is tooo stupid to give us a duel button. Hes like you i guess... Clueless.
Also..
Please point me to the PVM part of the forum so i can whine about PvM being pointless and Diablos all about PVP....lol?
See, you don't pvp... So your opinion about PVP is a pointless fart in the wind.
And besides your a NOOB because you don't pvp yet have a crap TON of stuff to say about it. Thats what makes you a noob, its got nothing to do with being awesome.
Is there anything else you have no experience with that you have a HUGE opinion about? DurrHh

A skilled pvp'r in D2 could give you his 'BEST' gear... Run over to Charsi, buy some vendor trash and still win easily. I kid you not because i used to naked duel in FFA games....

Oh come on! At least don't lie! PVP was a Huge feature in D2. Even the D2 Beta was packed of Pvper. Couldn't you see all the PVP game in the game list? Pvper even had unofficial naming convention to help you find a pvp game: Duel, Duels, Duelss, Duelss,....... Dueling, Duel now,.... were always full and active.
God damn I miss the sound when someone was click the pvp button in town. I would go outside town and wait for that little #$#)(*!! I could feel the adrenaline pumping. Dude, it was intense. hehe
He's not lying, you are. Or, to put it another way, you're taking your experience with the game and making it everyone's.
PvP was a relatively minor feature in D2; the majority of people that bought that game (like me) never even touched bnet, let alone PvP.

Is it me or do people seem to miss the point that IAS and CD and CC are actually a form a buffs and don't represent a players true damage.
Maybe this is a WoW thing or something i dunno.
Me and friend got into a debate about this. But in the end he made no sense at all and he started to agree with me.
Someones real damage is their base damage... Im just starting to get anoyed by all these players that claim their 'un-buffed' damage is 100 000+ damage when its not. Thats just that persons CD, CC and IAS fluffin their DPS calculator through the roof.
Anyone else agree that unbuffed should not count for DPS fluff?
Only thing im scared of pvp is that there is no specific pvp gear.. so its pay to win? Rich kids buy awesome gear from RMAH with daddys visa and then they own pvp... doesnt sound fun to me in any ways. If its that way i will skip the pvp.. any thoughts?
Ya....Diablo PVP is meant to be played by gearing youself.
Also, lets hope blizzard removes crit damage and nerfs total damage output done to players.
Because honestly, as is. Credit card players would'nt matter much. Even if they could do 1 bll crit damage they could still die to a player doing 10 k dps just for the simpell fact most players have only about 50 k life.
Uhm......armour and resists.
Still won't matter. It will only neg some damge. But, even so using defensive skills > stacked resists and defense.
My point was all these people waving their e-peen credit card builds will be in for a reality check when they finally understand that Crit is a PvM stat.
Its not gonna matter if they crit for a mill if only takes about 30-50 true damage to kill someone in a few seconds. Bascially making all crit useless. Unless of course they are dueling against players with a millions of hit points, which ain't gonna happen.
Ok so you guys mean that we had to wait half of the year for the PvP mode that will be dominated by big wallets right?
Actually i hope the skill factor will matter more than in D2. Otherwise its pointless, don't you think?
D2 pvp was all about skill. What are you even talking about?
And really, pvp won't be pay to win unless they can balance it.
People who spent tons of cash on Crit gear are gonna be in for a rude awakening one way or another.

You beat the game if you kill all evil and acquire all loot - and not by beating other players in a pointless dual about personal animosities.
Wrong.. Mfing is all about finding better pvp items... Thats what D2 was about to pvpr's.
Duels where never about personal animosities until someone with mental issues in "PUBLIC" games took it to that level. Also it was never about ears. No real dueler cared about ears.
But, personal animosities where very entertaining.
Obviously you never made past that random public brawl phase.
1. Of course I remember, see my "rip somone's ear off" comment. However, dueling in D2 was only a minor thing - some might disagree and say "no I was really badass and the community was big" blablabla. All communities I came across while playing D2 were about trading, fighting uber tristram, getting high level runes and stuff like that. Neither Blizzard nor the majority of the players actually focused on pvp in D2.
Your 'opinion' is stupid. PVP was a MAJOR part of D2.
Your comment can be compared to a bunch of crack heads saying... "No one drinks beers they all do crack" Well, of course the all do crack if all you do is hang out with crack heads.
The 'MAJORITY' of players i new, played with and against where all pvp style players. A FULL friends list of all pvp players. Non STOP pvp games which featured private duels, team duels, legit duels with rules, free for all public games and the good ol' all pkr's.
From my 3 1/2 years of playing D2 i spent 90% of my time 'PVPING'.....
Also, complaining, whinning, sportsman ship, crying about balance, excuses, trolling and people who just enjoy a good duel come with the territory. Its all expected and sometimes the actual crying and trolling in public FFA games was more enjoyable then the actual FFA duels.
So please, keep your opinion to yourself if you did NOT indulge yourself fully into the PVP D2 world. Seriously, i hate NON pvprs with opinions. You all sound like Vegans giving advice on how to BBQ steaks. Everytime i see a non pvpr speak about how PVP isn't the focus and there's no point I DON'T GIVE A DAMN.
Ya.. I know we are still waiting for the PvP arena to be released...And left wondering why we just can't have a simple dule button added.
But i really wish i could pass this idea on to blizzard for a new pvp style game... Maybe for an xpac release since i would gladly pay for this.
Its basically a FFA type pvp game... A throw back to the old D2 style ffa games with 8 players max.
First off a small camp(town), with a spiked wooden fence surrounding it. Allowing stash and vendor access..with different entrances to the battlefield. (3 second imune to damage or doing damage when you enter)
Second... The battlefield would have be based off the same theme but the catch is the only way back into town when you enter is by town portal.
Third... HOSTILE BUTTON. Basically this would be a great place to bring back this feature. Just click on players icon and hostile on unhostile.
Fourth... Have 4 different settings for these FFA type games. Where dying transfers gold from the dead player to the winner/pkr. But have 4 settings.
Settings go from...
1.) No gold losss.. (for newbs or just casual fun)
2.) 100 gold per death.
3) 1000 gold per death
4) 100 000 gold per death.
Dying will respawn player in town.
Players can only enter the game if they have the gold in the stash .. If not they would not be allowed to enter the game and be auto kicked from game when they no longer have the gold to play.
This would create an almost gambling type atmosphere..With that old skool FFA feel.
And last but not least... Add the option to make private games.

...Really, running cunts? Newbie?
Sheesh, reminds of the idiots in D2 public games that played barbs that would always cry about ranged classes maintaining breathing/attacking range.
Its not running... Running means you want to escape. You can't expect a ranged class to sit in one spot so you can chop away.
Also, I can't wait to get ground stomped.

Just pray you don't run into a pack of WD's.
Because it will be pretty funny hearing that talk commin from a chicken...lol
I mean, if you pull that card 1st... If you get hex'd its over. Even with alot of crowd control reduction you will probably get stalled and mauled.
Thats my thought anyways,

Not everyone is stupid or pathetic enough to spend money on gear. And really, Diablo PVP was "ALWAYS' about gearing yourself.
Thank GOD blizzard kept it the way it should be....
